Patrick, you are, in my opinion, the most interesting young saxophone player I've heard from a long time, there are today so many virtuoso but, sorry, quite boring... And your musical culture is huge and eclectic . Thank you. I hope you'll have the beautiful career you deserve. Cheers from France
Most underrated comment on YT. Sure Chad LB can play lots of notes, but I want to hear a melody that moves and flows through the changes to say smth that doesn't sound like my fingers are amazing at speedily navigating passages.
Patrick is so great. He's innovating with his j-pop inflected jazz, and the range in what he can do is so broad and great. He can go from in the pocket, soulful blues to sounding just like Bird or Cannonball and then to his own sound, his altissimo register is so powerful, and every note he play has meaning. Seriously a great player all around and someone I am following closely.
@@gillhewerfamily6550 I've been saying for a few years now that Pat is the only sax player I can listen to in those high registers - everyone else just sounds shrill. Totally agree that every note has meaning - it's like he literally infuses each note with soul. Even if you don't look at the screen you know it is Pat from the wya he blows the note.
Agreed with your sentiment. Since I found Patrick, I’ve been hooked and can’t stop listening to anything he’s playing in…and I stopped listening to Chad tbh
The sax playing is truly musical. This is what it sounds like when someone knows how to play. Total mastery of the tune, time and tone. I loved how he elevates the band. He made it so the whole band became the solo, and it was insanely slick for the keys and bass to just drop out like that right in the middle. The sheer force and energy driven by virtuosity is truly amazing
One of the gems of John Coltrane. He was the greatest innovator since Charlie Parker. He influenced many saophonists. His influence is still being felt today although he left us so many years ago.
You are the reason I am trying to pick up the alto sax right now, and you have set the bar impossibly high lol. You scare the shit out of me but you are also showing me just how far I can go with that instrument if I put the time in. Thank you :)
Man meeting you back at aebersold camp change my life I was 18 at the time I think you was 16 I was dam this guy is a beast during those late jam sessions made me practice harder and take the music serious. Really love seeing you play always influential brotha man
Wholly Holy Smoke! Of course I hear Coltrane and Pharaoh, but mostly I hear you coming through brother. Like some kinda force from another wherever. You’ve swept me away. I thank you 🙏🏽 Wind ever at your back.
This is unbelievable! Outdoor, totally propelled by inner fire, no audience feedback, you guys are just burning and I'm breathless with excitement. It's destined for the jazz history books of the future IMHOP!.
Patrick send chills up this Brothers spine whenever he plays. First saw him with Wynton Marsalis as a new giant on the scene. He has not disappointed us music lovers. A real warrior. Blow Patrick Blow.
I don't know what to say, but I think you should be rich and famous. Thank you for sharing this. Also thanks to the algorithm of RUclips for bringing me here.
Saw you live in Munich with Scott Kinsey. Your play and energy is incredible. dropped our jaws! And this one, man... I am crying of joy! Cheers from Israel
Wow ! You were more than Coltrane himself in person at his best this day ! And Emmet and Kyle were fantastic ! And... Just before the beginning I thought I would miss Russell whom I love so much, but Yasushi Nakamura is awesome and his playing along Emmet's solo was oh là là ! Thanks a lot for this great session ! Ten thumbs up ! Greatings from Paris 🇫🇷
This was so &$%÷!$ick!!!! From the bass just setting the vibe to the band on wide open! When the bass/piano dropped out and then hit on the return....🤢🤮🤤 heavier than any metal!🎉

@@georgebutler3477 Chad LB is certainly a master in his own right, but I agree that Bartley is simply one of the greatest

Coming back to this I am again blown away by the sheer virtuosity of each performer. Everyone just on fire!
I love everyone, who keeps this kind of music alive, which accompagnies me since more than 50 years! ❤

BREATH OF LIFE IS FULLY PRESENT HERE ❤ 🙏
Dang, Patrick, you kicked ass in that solo, WOW! And Emmett, too! WOW! And everyone!
Wholly Holy Smoke! Of course I hear Coltrane and Pharaoh, but mostly I hear you coming through brother. Like some kinda force from another wherever. You’ve swept me away. I thank you 🙏🏽 Wind ever at your back.
I think, after Coltrane, Mike Brecker & Tyner have remained as the virtuoso of this burning tune. But now it's renewed by them. I love this tensions.
The contemporary greats of jazz
Sick! Love the way the drums stop for a moment in the sax solo!
A young successor to the great Kenny Garrett...
From the first sonorous bass tones to the end, pure fire! Thanks for carrying the jazz torch.
Burnin from beginning to end. Coltrane's spirit is alive and well!!

Patrick… stop it!!!! I played this in my car and my speakers burned out. This is an all time great solo in all honesty. This is… wow.
5:07 - 5:48 is my favorite part second to the entire thing is my favorite part
Just wow. Of course PB is the baddest Alto on the planet but OMG how about Kyle’s backing. Outstanding performance by THE great young masters.
Emmet coming in with the heat. Pat on another level as usual. Band on fire!

Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
Very few musicians are expert at every era in jazz, but these players are.
There was so much fire that I thought my phone was gonna overheat and die playing the song.
Patrick Bartley is easily my favorite sax player currently!
I don't know what to say, but I think you should be rich and famous. Thank you for sharing this. Also thanks to the algorithm of RUclips for bringing me here.
