      I have never been so disappointed. Thought I was going to love ba ing brand new set ,but both have been nothing but disappointment. I thought my water level sensor was bad until I saw this video. Insane that they think 6" of water is enough to wash clothes. 3 pair of jeans is all I dare put in at one time. Same with bath towels. Its a joke!

    Well I really like what you did there because I told my husband that I needed to run a hose to my washer to get it full enough. However, when he didn't want to do that I had to figure something out besides adding water by hand which is what I had been doing with a gallon jug. For people who are afraid to do something like this (and there are people who will be afraid), after playing with my settings over and over trying to get more water I did find a fix for the exact machine you are showing because it's mine. If you push the pause/lid lock but once it pauses. If you finish filling up the machine as much as it will go and close the lid, then push that button 4 times it will fill an additional 20-30 seconds. I find that I can usually do this between 2-6 times depending on how large my load is and get enough water that way without altering anything. I just have to have a few minutes to stand there and do it. But it works. So basically pause, run, pause, run and it fills on up. If you open the lid while you are doing this it stops and you just do it again. You can do it as many times as you feel you need to and it should not hurt your washer at all. When it rinses it always fills up more than enough so it only has to be done during the washer fill up cycle. Hope this helps someone who doesn't want to tackle adding a hose. Although, I do love your idea and it definitely will do the trick if you're handy like that.

    This is a good work-around, but gosh darned frustrating that we have to do this! This is craziness that today's washers are so pitiful! If you have an oldie-but-a-goody FIX it if you possibly can! Even if the fix is the price of a "new" machine. You will NOT regret keeping your oldie alive! Trust those of us who are watching this video.

      Blame it on Nancy Pelosi. She and her environment wacko associates, using stealth measures, pushed this and other annoyances through Congress. They did this by tacking amendments on to legitimate legislation without full exclosure. Since most Congressman don't fully read what they are voting on, this measure was adopted. So much for "Open Government".

    I did this with my machine sometime back, except I didn’t hook it up the way you did. I just hooked my hose to my kitchen sink and run it into the washer, either way, I wanted to see how deep I could get it, so I could wash my own comforters in my own machine and when it reached a certain level, that washing machine automatically kicked in and drained that tub of water that I had just filled up. So just beware that once you hit a certain level closer to the top, your machine is going to automatically drain and you can’t stop it.

    So I figured out the newer GE washers. I as well thought my washer didn't have the screw-based analogue sensor. There was nothing that looked like one on my washer. I have a 2019 GE frontloader model: GFWS1705S. Under the top, there is a little black box connected to a rubber hose and looks like a fat relay with red, yellow, and blue wires in a 3-wire connector. Mine was mounted just under the top to the right. It's part number is: 31690007 / 11201005000003. I had to take the cover off and low and behold, it's a pressure switch just like the others and the screw was hidden inside. :) I turned the screw 4 rotations clockwise (tightened) and now the water level is 1/3 up the glass door.

    I was frustrated with my new GE top load washer because it wasn't putting enough water in it. So after adding buckets of water to where it needed to be I thought this is ridiculous. Out of frustration, I tried my normal method (soap then put clothes on top of that)& pushed down on the agitator, closed the lid and pushed start. I know it sounds silly but I get the proper water level EVERY TIME! This is much better than carrying buckets of water. I hope it works for you guys.

    Regarding the model in this video...all ya have to do, is keep hitting the deep fill button ( on, then off, then on) and it will fill up to the max [3 gallons] at a time. In the alternative, just hold down the same button for 3 seconds and then it "deep-fills". One might add a gallon or two since the so-called deep fill is a bit lacking. But it beats having a workshop in your laundry room.
    Of course one can simply return the machine and buy an old-school timer-based machine instead too, (yes they still make them), and much cheaper as well. Of course the same timer based classics don't need pricey soap either.

Now the normal load on super is as big as the bulky items load which is the same as it the deep fill. IM PISSED. I called the tech back and he said the new update makes it have less water.
    So I’ve been using my mop bucket to add buckets to the load.

    I hate these new efficient washer. My clothes are not clean or rinsed well. I was told to use high efficient soap that is still left on my clothes especially on black or color clothing. I would not believe when I peak in side and saw very little water in the tube of the washer. Heck I have to wash everything twice and rinse everything three times > How it this saving on water usage. I have purchase two washer thinking that I got taken when I purchase an GE Washer. So I went an purchase another band with an extra rinse but again not much water was added to the tube even on selection of heavy load. I even spoke to the repair man about even buying a commercial model and he told me not to because the same issue happen that washer have been programmed to use less water. Thank you so much from sharing with us such a simple fix. Q: Does your wife add more water doing the rinse cycle to ensure that the soap has been properly rinsed out completely?

      I have a Maytag. Pressing Deep Fill provide a 14" fill for most cycles, but.. not necessarily right at the beginning of the cycle. The machine will start with the partial fill on most cycles to allow a concentrated mix of water and detergent to penetrate the clothes PRIOR to adding the remainder of the water. This improves cleaning performance.

    • @AmericanVoyager
      @AmericanVoyager 6 лет назад +2

      Every model has it's draw backs. On this machine in the video, one cannot skip to rinse without sacrificing the ability to "deep-fill". Of course, the so-called deep-fill is about four gallons lacking: it doesn't even cover all available drain holes in the drum. Which leaves wasted drum space during large load washing.

    6" of water! I thought mine was bad. I use same settings Deep Fill, Max, Cold and Deep Clean (still don't know what the heck that means) for all my different loads. Personally, I think all those other options (except maybe for Delicate or Drain & Spin) mean squat. Just manufacturer's way of making you think you have some control over something. Which of course, you don't!
    I never use "Precise Fill" because that's only for weighing load when you add clothes first. I don't. I press "Start" first and while water is coming in, I add detergent so it mixes w/water. Once it's completed filling (hah), THEN I add laundry pushing it down in water w/big wooden spoon. If I don't think water level that's already in machine is covering the load enough, I add one or two or three of the handy dandy gallon jugs of water I always keep in the laundry room. The hose/splitter set up is good. But my water line hookup is too far behind my machine & dryer for me to reach comfortably. So for me, the jug method works fine.
    In the end, all of us nowadays have to gerry-rig whatever works in order to override and compensate for Big Brother's wonderful, "time/energy saving new technology" BS. Ugh! One other thing about this piece of crap GE, I've never had a machine get as unbalanced - so often - as this one. Like others, I hate it.

      Glad you like it. I have recently changed my parents setup and thought I would pass it along. My mother is kind of short and was having a problem reaching the splitter - I didn't feel comfortable leaving the garden hose on all the time because of the durability issue - I purchased another washing machine hose and then added an outdoor spigot to it - basically the same setup, only now it can be left on at the splitter and is much easier for her to use.

    I just grabbed an old refrigerator drawer and I just fill it up and throw it in. Only takes about 2 times to get the level up. You can also get the clothes heavy with water. Turn it off by holding 3 seconds, and then restart it. Since the machine weighs the clothes to tell how much water to add, this almost always fills it 3/4 of the way.

  • @carlafranklin3227
    @carlafranklin3227 5 лет назад +2

    Not sure if this will work. Most of these washers drain the old water out when the load is first started. Try using the hose to soak the clothes for five or so minutes so they will weigh more. Then turn it on and the excess water will drain out but the clothes are still soaked and weigh more. Or maybe add the water after the machine is done filling. Before filling will not work because the air pressure tube senses the water is there. But you would have to do the same at rinse time. My favorite is simply attaching lead weights or any heavy item evenly around the sides of the tank about one foot above the bottom. Would void a warranty if left on when a tech shows up so keep it removable. Heavy magnets from a CPU hard drive will hold weight to the steel drums and easy to remove. Works. Some drums are plastic. I've played with stuffing filled balloons in the legs of jeans to increase the weight. Most of the time works but the ballons can get squashed and burst. The computers adjust the levels from the weight of the clothes. The smart solution is to find the schematics for any HE washer and locate the screw by the air pressure tube and make minor adjustments to it until the desired level is reached. No need to ever do it again. Very few women are going to mess with using the hose or balloon method every time they do a load. Only alpha men will.

      On my Kenmore HE, I just let the machine fill as much water as it can initially. Then after it stops filling, I open the lid and add more water as shown in the video. I tried adding before the fill but the machine would just drain it out when you started the cycle. Do it mid-cycle (before agitation or just at the start) and it worked.

    Water level is easy, EASY to adjust! This is for Whirpool wet4027ew washer/dryer combo, but the pressure switches are basically the same.
    Don't do this hose fix, that's bush.
    Remove 3 screws on top panel, top of machine. Don't mess with anything there. Pull back the black curtain and look to the right. You'll see a clear tube going to a pressure switch. The switch can be removed by the 1 screw on top. There are three adjustment screws. The bottom one adjusts the big load level, the left adjusts the small load. Turn the screw clockwise to add more water. I didn't unplug it, rather just stuck a screwdriver in the lid switch and filled it up. When it shuts off, rotate the screw until it starts to fill again, then back off a half turn. Seriously it's just that easy! What a pain this is for so many people. I hope this helps. Oh, if you smoke, please use ashtrays. I'm done here...

Also when I pushed it again it just turned off the light. I tried pushing a couple of different times at different speeds but it just turns the light on and off so mine doesn't work this way. But I found my own way using the pause/start button. After cycle starts you have to open the lid and immediately close it and it goes into pause, then immediately after closing the lid you push the pause button off pause, on pause back off pause and on that time the washer will fill up for an additional 20-30 seconds. This can be done over and over to achieve the desired water level.

      I think you must have a different washer than I do because I let my washer fill up and start the wash cycle then I pushed the deep fill button and the light came on but it only added a small amount. I tried pushing more than once to and even pushing and holding it but all this button does on my washer is turn deep fill off or on. It doesn't add extra water except a little extra the first time you push it. I have the exact same washer as this guy has in the pic of this video though. Thanks for trying to help us all with washer issues.

    agree this is a very annoying feature. i live in an apartment that i pay $45 a month extra to have one of their stackable washer dryer sets. i have to fill a large pot with water. my washer is a basic model. so i dont have all thoes cool buttons. but i watched a video before i seen this one. and i saw that if you hold down yoir deep fill button for a few secs, it gives a larger fill. have you tried doing that? it was the same exact deep fill button you have. you press it once, and the hold down the button

    • @stevesmith4526
      @stevesmith4526 6 лет назад

      Yeah, unfortunately we have tried that and usually just leave the deep fill on. It basically works the way you mentioned.. If you hold it in for 1 second, it lets a little more water in and then if you hold it in for 3 seconds, it lets a little more. All in, it's about 8 inches and that still not enough for a full load of towels. I understand the need to conserve water, but 8 inches is ridiculous.. The next washer will not be a GE..

    I'm wondering if something else is going on with your machine. I have the exact same unit that I purchased back in November and I've never had any issues with only getting 6 inches of water. When I select super with the deep fill, it will fill to about 5 or 6 inches from the top of the tub.

    • @randomhowtos..7633
      @randomhowtos..7633  8 лет назад +2

      This is the second washer - we thought the first was messed up because the GE videos show a lot more water in the tub also. We had GE service come out a week ago - they hooked up their computer and no codes - wouldn't let him leave, told him 6" was ridiculous... so he ran another program against the washer's fill cycle, his computer showed there should be 8" instead of the 6" that were in it, so he ordered a new board for it to see if that would help - 8" isn't much more but would be better than 6.. My parents have city water in a newer home - I mention this because they have good water pressure - with the GE machine, on super, it fills for approximately 8-1/2 minutes - people with poor pressure are screwed even more. Maybe they changed the machines up at the beginning of the year or maybe the new board will fix the issue. I will update the comments next week if it does.

    • @yambo59
      @yambo59 7 лет назад +6

      YES-!! I bought one a few months ago - SPEED QUEEN is the last of the old school commercial duty washers. I bought one and have none of the reliability or performance issues of the new HE machines. The water level on highest setting was about two inches below top set of tub holes, I just adjusted the water level control and it fills up all the way on the ex large load setting. I also defeated the lid switch, now I have a brand new washer without any govt. interference.

    • @PSearcy100
      @PSearcy100 7 лет назад

      The issue here is not that it puts in only 6 inches of water. You are supposed to add the clothes first and then the machine weighs them and puts in the "appropriate" amount of water for that specific load. Each load will put in a different amount of water depending on the weight. The reason it is only putting in 6 inches of water is because the tub is empty of clothes. Although I still think it doesn't put in enough water. See my answer above as to what I did to remedy this without making any changes. Good luck.

      Brandywine Sustainable Farm I completely agree but if your stuck with one of these washers and you can't even wash a simple comforter cuz it won't fill up enough..atleast this would help get it clean..k absolutely hate these washers. we use our washers alot at work and our consumers have accidentally and have to wash their bedding almost every day and it's literally not getting the bedding clean..it still smells like urine..so what is the point. I thought the machine was broken.j reported it to maintence and they then told me it's a high efficiency and it's not suppose to fill the whole way...wtf..ridiculous.i love it when my clothes have room k. the water to get clean and get the dirt and odor out. they can not possibly tell us that your clothes get just as clean..I'll call bullshit on that. .but sad part is..we wouldn't be allowed to do this at work considering we have to have everything in their homes perfect..hell you can't even have a tiny hole in a couch cushion..

      Thanks for the Laugh. Call your congressman. Maybe the President might help as he likes to issue executive orders killing regs. Good luck. I'm in Canada and wrote my Prime Minister. My guy loves regs. If you have a smart husband (i.e. can fix a motorcycle engine) all you need to do is pull the back panel off, use a screwdriver and turn the screw 1/2 turn at a time one way or the other until you are happy. The screw is by the air pressure tube. Will take a half-hour testing the levels until you pick the correct one. Find a service manual to download for any HE washer and you will understand.

  • @Delilah361
    @Delilah361 5 лет назад

    All you have to do is put the clothes in and wet them thoroughly. Don't just pour water in the tub. The machine will spin it out when it starts up. Wetting the clothes will trick the washer into thinking it has more clothes in it than it does because of the extra weight and will fill up with enough water to efficiently wash the clothes. Don't use the sensor setting. Use the deep fill setting. The clothes come out perfect. No offense but using a hose to do the laundry is kind of lame. It's too much work and I'm not risking getting water all over my floor.

      I actually have a 2 gallon pitcher that I insert say 2 of my heavy items in the pitcher. They are saturated heavy wet & I lay on top of the bottom dry items. Fills a lot more, as it then senses more weight when I start it & it doesn’t drain them as there is no loose water. I want to buy a machine that I don’t need to do this?

      After playing with my settings over and over trying to get more water I did find a fix for the exact machine you are showing because it's mine. If you push the pause/lid lock but once it pauses. If you finish filling up the machine as much as it will go and close the lid, then push that button 4 times it will fill an additional 20-30 seconds. (It might already pause when you open the lid and then you only push it 3 times). I find that I can usually do this between 2-6 times until I get the desired amount of water. I just have to have a few minutes to stand there and do it. But it works. So basically pause, run, pause, run and it fills on up. If you open the lid while you are doing this it stops and you just do it again. But you do have to open the lid and reclose it each time you do it because it triggers the pause to come on and then when you close the lid you can fill it by pressing the pause off/pause on/pause off and it will keep on filling.
