    Health & Medicine on Khan Academy: No organ quite symbolizes love like the heart. One reason may be that your heart helps you live, by moving ~5 liters (1.3 gallons) of blood through almost 100,000 kilometers (62,000 miles) of blood vessels every single minute! It has to do this all day, everyday, without ever taking a vacation! Now that is true love. Learn about how the heart works, how blood flows through the heart, where the blood goes after it leaves the heart, and what your heart is doing when it makes the sound “Lub Dub.”
    About Khan Academy: Khan Academy is a nonprofit with a mission to provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. Regarding Medigap Supplemental Insurance Plans … they only pay 20% if Medicare pays for that procedure. Make no mistake anyone buying Medigap needs to know u pay these insurance companies a monthly/significant premium to write the same 20% check u could write at your kitchen table. Remember, If Medicare doesn’t pay … Medigap won’t pay and the senior will pay the full 100% as Medicare determines if a procedure is covered or denied.

    Harry S. Truman was the first Medicare card recipient. He introduced this idea during his presidential term but it was passed during LBJ's term. That's why he's there.

    @amaniacwithacar yep, I smashed my wrist badly. Ended up getting lots of titanium and it cost about $80 all up (and that was for optional painkillers). Sure it's not perfect but you don't need to worry about going bankrupt (that alone probably literally makes people sicker)

    I am on disability and receive Medicare and Medicaid. The Medicaid MQMB covers the copays that Medicare doesn't pay. However, it is becoming very difficult to find a doctor who is accepting new Medicare patients. There is only 1 in my area.

    Is there a way to save the notes that Mr.Khan is taking? They're written so nicely and are really easy to follow, I would love to have a copy

    Confusion Marketing Techniques (cmt's), is a phrase that comes to mind! This is crazy!! Like so many of the most important care industries in our society’s, these have become bloated & inefficient (Greed & corruption are often rife) It’s impossible to regulate these systems efficiently with the current approaches. (I believe there is a potential solution! the problem is getting enough people to listen) Regulatory authorities are little or no deterrent without a better approach.

    wait so am I an outpatient if I see a doctor for a consultation within the hospital walls?

    • @louiethemouseful
      @louiethemouseful 5 лет назад

      It's still considered outpatient, because you haven't been ADMITTED into the hospital

    Medicare in Australia is so much better. There is no age restrictions and it actually works, you can actually afford to go to hospital!

    Explaining how poorly Americans are covered by their public health system? A more interesting discussion would be who is only partially or not at all covered by health insurance and why? Perhaps discuss the real cost efficiency of these public drug plans. It is kind of bizzare that this discussion on Medicare (for the over 65) not only applies to a fraction of the population, it is really not likely to be relevent to the demographic watching this? Sorry seems more of a public service ad.

      A young person should know that, if you are a U.S. citizen but live in another country and have not paid into the system for ten years, you are not eligible for Part A. B is more expensive than my private insurance in San Salvador.

      If a man marries someone from another country, she probably has better benefits, even if she never works outside the home, than a woman who is a citizen.
