Its time for you all to check out some really interesting medieval villages and the Luberon region would be one of them. Situated in the Luberon, at the foot of the Monts de Vaucluse, the village of Roussillon is surrounded by beautiful French countryside.
It is considered one of the most impressive villages in France - Roussillon is one of the "must-sees" in the Luberon, and is well worth a detour. From your first steps in the village of Roussillon, you will be captivated by its charm and its atmosphere. You will stroll with pleasure in the picturesque maze of its alleys and small squares. Gordes is one of the most well-known hilltop villages in the region, and one of the most beautiful in France. Its houses and buildings of white stone that root themselves into the sharp cliff of the mountain.

The essential is missing, the ocher path which explains the origin of the color of the houses. Otherwise, the images are magnificent and perfectly reflect the beauty of this Luberon village.

We go back every year. Public transport is cheap and well organized out of for example Avignon.

Yes it is. Just outside of the the city wall, left of the train station is a big bus station. Closeby is also the high speed train station and even an airport.
