It’s funny because it’s an exaggeration of how a real, undiluted Australian accent sounds to people who aren’t from Australia when they try to relay it back to us.
You can only do that when you know the original well enough, and have a deep enough sympathy with the original, to know how to get it exactly ten percent wrong.
It’s like when a jazz drummer plays the beat a little out of time… on purpose!
I don’t know if that makes any sense, but Bowen still cracked me up.

Poor Jacob, he was nervous and the crowd was so dead wtf? Good on Sarah for basically calling them out, even though the whole ordeal was embarrasing to watch

@@alyssa6349 going feral is not good, it's annoying. Seems like the crowd was only there for Jacob or Renee and hasn't seen a minute of SNL before coming to the show. It's courtesy to clap and show support when the host mentions their project, as well as when a cast member shows up during the monologue. They botched the clap when Jacob mentioned Saltburn, and also when Sarah came out. The crowd is so important for the vibe and the flow of the show, and they definitely ruined a lot for me tonight.
Because Jacob doesn't entertain a single fly and that's why the entire episode was shit.

My housemates and i last Spring here in L.A. ran across Mr J Elordi at an Erewhon market . Yes he’s that tall and such a vision . We behaved, requested no selfies , no autograph, just small talk. After a minute he resumed waiting for his drink order and we returned to our shopping.

I've been watching SNL since year one, and this is the first episode where I knew absolutely nothing about the host or musical guest. Props to Jacob Elordi, though, for becoming an actor at 6'5" tall. He must have to stand in a trench in most scenes. At certain camera angles he reminds me of a young Matt Dillon.
I'm staking my claim here: One day I will host Saturday Night Live. Great job Jacob.

Did anyone else notice that the opening credits mentioned a film by Please Don’t Destroy but they didn’t actually show one? Instead they showed a digital short that Jacob wasn’t even in (meaning that it could have been a holdout from _any_ previous episode).
