It's all about food for Kailey 15:27 she's not lost; she's building relationships. This has been her #1 means of survival; using her cute card to gain allies for when feeding time begins. 0:55 Kailey goes through the entire thing not only seemingly not affected, with zero parity between anything that could be considered a flinch and the pain level, her demeanor is so limp that her anticipation of the possibility of milk has her responding as if the plucking is deeply affectionate. However, as soon as it's made clear 1:46 that pluck isn't going to lead to milk, not only does her splayed out, vulnerable demeanor act go away, she finally responds how one would to the plucking in the first place, and bolts. Every one of these mother daughter relationships seems to be about the same thing; mom's quest for dominance and baby's quest for food. It's not about mom being hungry or out of milk or the baby wanting mom's affection, it's rank/food or to humans power/money.

The relationship these animals have to starches reminds me of my Irish family. Arriving with a fondness for potatoes, corn was the jackpot for them. Potatoes are a strong sustenance for them, and so they appreciate starches as sustaining, but they love sweet corn (starch with bigger flavor kick). Poor Kailey, the price she has to pay for any attention from mum is just so sad. Regardless of how a mother treats her child, they still love their mum and want her approval and attention. It is sad to watch but Kailey will make it and she will be a strong and independent monkey. Hopefully she doesn't treat her babies this way but sadly, we parent how we learn and Kailey got the short end of the straw when it came to mothers. Thank you for giving her just a little treat and I was happy to see she had it mostly eaten when Gypsy came around or she likely would have had to forfeit the treat. I know when push comes to shove, Gypsy will protect Kailey but she doens't do it with any love but rather obligation. I know they are wild animals but some mother's genuinely show love to their babies and others do not. That cooing always breaks my heart.
Some mothers have a greater instinct for care than others and I think the lower the rank the less effort they make because their primary instinct is self preservation, even if it means their young won't survive. That's just being an animal. These babies cling to their mom because instinct tells them they are not safe on their own. I don't think would animals care about their mother's approval, that's human. Gracie Star Macaque studies have shown that for proper physical & psychological development of infants to occur they have to have an intact bond with their mother, siblings and troop. Gypsy’s behavior is likely the result of a generational issue of long standing due to her family’s low rank. You can see in these images that her breasts are flaccid and likely empty of milk. Her inability to meet her own nutritional needs has seriously effected her ability to nurture Kailey.
@@loristone8860 Yet you have equally low ranking mothers lacking in food intake who do not shun or harm their babies during the time when frequent nursing is common. For example Tina and Skinny both gave grooming & cuddling and comfort access to the nipple for their babies. Yes the babies of those two monkeys did have to learn to forage at a much earlier age than their peers. But those two females's babies were not subjected to such physical abuse or rejection as all of Gypsy's babies have been. Gypsy seems to simply not like her babies at all & any cuddling/hugging or nursing is done very begrudgingly. Same with intervening for her babies. That seems to be hardwired instinct only because Gypsy will detach from her baby as soon as possible. For those who say how her babies have all survived please remember the babies survived because of the intense care and oversight of sterilized females in the group who provided oversight and affection and attention. The mothers who have lost babies to unknown causes do not utilize the babysitters as frequently as Gypsy or at such young ages for the babies as Gypsy.
Angela Kelley Everything you say is true. Unfortunately abuse and lack of maternal attachment is often a generational issue. Poor mothers grow up and raise children who are in turn likely to be poor parents. Just like Tiny stealing food from Tiny’s mouth. We now see Tiny doing the same thing to Teeny. It’s a cycle of abuse.
She obv able to forage.i guess because shes low ranked mums teaching that life will be harsh and getting her to be independent. Life for low ranked isnt all love and constant cuddles.gypsy teaching her how she was probably taught.tough love.i think people try and humanize these animals too much sometimes
Has everyone forgotten that these are ANIMALS and NOT humans? Seems like lots of people are confusing their human emotions with these _animals_ instincts.... sure, they're similar to us, but they are far from us as well. Come on people.
Yes, we realize this but understanding these animals that are similar helps us deal with our own humanity to be more caring to our own children and society.
The debate of nuture and nature (or perhaps ability to nature) is highlighted in these animals. The babies will be abused by mother but will cling insanely to her body relative to weaning. That's a pure illustration of instinct. Yet human children will not abandon an abusive parent. We've seen sub-adults tend to "abandoned" babies and cohort will wait to pick up a baby from mother's abuse. Where is it instinct and where is it... rational? People study the animals as a reflection of ourselves. When we are taken by cuteness surely that is an instinct... but we would feed the infant first if possible whereas the elder monkeys take food right out of their mouths. All fascinating... looking in the mirror of evolution.
Remember she cut her arm and her mom doctored it a little but she was tiny tiny it’s tints little sister TEENY. Remember? They somehow got separated teeny had to stay away from them after she are or they would take her food!!!

Bless you, Arroz. I know she would love for her mother to cuddle and feed her, but, that is something I don't think is likely to happen.
Gypsy doesn't look like a gentle groomer, or a gentle anything, really. 😌
That’s one monkey mum that should be put down. 😢
I wonder will Kailey be the same with her baby when she gets old enough to have one or doesn’t get sterilized
Remember she cut her arm and her mom doctored it a little but she was tiny tiny it’s tints little sister TEENY. Remember? They somehow got separated teeny had to stay away from them after she are or they would take her food!!!
Wonderful music 🌲🍎♥
I Love thier sweet potato mustaches!😁♥️♥️♥️
She is so sleepy
I think it’s moments like 0:43 that she can still remember just like human children these babies really want and need there mommas love no matter how many times they’re rejected they still try. Most of these babies have hearts of gold 💖💖💖. She is a heart broken little thing😢😢💔💔💔. She was doing great until her mom showed a tiny amount of care and now she is just a crying the poor little thing. Who keeps her warm at night? Does she have to sleep alone? Does she have any friends to play with?
8:38. Kailey looks like a little girl sitting on her stoop eating cookies. Thank you for giving her a treat. I hope she gets to keep it all. xxoo
Don't worry about Kailey, she's going to be independent early just like Knotty and Knitty.
@@ArrozMarisco360 independent and strong lil girl while she was with us. I miss watching her . Teenie and Kaylee were amazing to watch grow and learn from survival skills on there own. Thank you for her sweet potatoe treat , very nutritious factor that she needed. 😉🙏🇺🇸
What do the adults think of how Gypsy does her grooming technique on them. I can't believe they let her yank their fur out. I hope someone answers this question. I've never seen a monkey groom as rough as her.
If i am a child of Gypsy, I’d rather not be groomed by her. If i survived the ordea I would also end up bald.
That’s teeny!!!! She must had got separated from her older brother tiny and Tina they stole the food she forged for all day out of her mouth!!!!! Omg 😱 I thought she died God is amazing!!!!
Oh god I love the squeaks they make
The youngsters don’t seem to care much about grooming. That does seem to change as they grow up.
Oh wow despite Gypsy lack of attention Kailey has grown pretty big
Why do they rip hairs out of them and eat..is that nutritious or something? Speaking from experience it is hard saying no to those cute kids, but sometimes has to be done lol
Gypsy doesn’t groom , she pulls and eats kaylee fur. How sad to see kaylee to get negative attention all the way around from her nasty mom. Her short life was never filled with love from mom or Krissy. 😓💔🇺🇸
They aren't human. They don't have this deep abiding love that people like to pretend they do. Some have more of an instinct for mothering than others, but it's instinct, not love that drives them
These things deserve the most painful ends imaginable. I hate them.
when a moms love is denied babies & kids find it elsewhere
They look like they snacked on Cheetos..lol
Love her FULL tummy! 🐒❤️🐒❤️🐒❤️
But she is not all alone, she has a aunt right? :)
7:00 in are those the flowers (nectar) that give them the Cheeto's lips???
humacao01 yep! Append every year. The monkeys help pollinate the flowers.
She does look a little bit fluffier.
She gets a plucking not grooming. Lol
❤️❤️❤️Kailey
Sweet little face.
someone feed this little one the mother sure doesent
Does anyone out there can tell me the website where I can see the monkeys lineages. I want to see how gypsy ranks.
Just as Kailey ran to Gypsy was that Kailey that screamed like that? That was loud!!
Do you suppose Gypsy was abused as a baby?
