Oh my gosh! Can you please just make a compilation of Waddles' growing process from a baby to an adult and release as a video?! The cutest!!! I love the footage of her just dozing off! So sweet!
Love your videos and I'm happy you guys are loving NZ. We moved to the South Island 1.5 yrs ago and is has been tough to adapt. I'm an American Citizen but originally from Colombia and my husband is a kiwi. We spent 7 yrs in the Middle East. I live in a beautiful farm and the animals and nature is what keeps me here. Just as you said, we're also giving it a try, open to stay or leave depending how we feel about it later on. Enjoying it while it lasts ;)
Thanks for the Waddles update and I'm happy to hear that Frieda and Diego are hanging around. I love Woolsen and the fact that momma Carrie can pick him out of a crowd. I'm excited about the chickens and what breeds your getting. I love the ones with all the feathers around their ankles. Whoever named the coop the Sunshine coop picked a perfect name, love it! A honeymoon in Fuji sounds magical and I hope you have the best relaxing couple time.
I’m pretty sure you can set your phone to make calls over wifi instead of cellular. If I click on “Cellular” in settings there is an option for “Wifi Calling”, but that might depend on your service provider. But you may want to see if you have that option too. 😊
Hi Carrie, love this video. Have you guys thought about getting a landline? I also live in an area where there is barely any cell reception. A landline is super helpful when there is a powercut so there isn't any wifi sometimes.
I used to live in Colombia and I never hot used to the inverted seasons either. I still think about it often and its been 20 years since I lived there.
Hi, just letting you know..in your phone you have an option called wifi calling. Activate that and you can receive and call anyone. Where we live in Australia also we have the same problem. No mobile reception at all. So we have wifi calling option activated. Hope this will help you. :)
Hi Carrie! Loved your riff near the end about splitting time and seasons between different locales. We live in WA State, retired teachers. We hope to end up splitting the seasons by traveling. Southern Hemisphere in Jan & Feb, yearly. Then back to U.S. for Aug & Sep. We're retired teachers. Two summers a year! We visited NZ in Feb 2020. We are REALLY hoping to visit you all again for Jan & Feb 2023.
I'm from Argentina and moved to Italy in 2019, now I live in Galicia, Spain. The changing seasons is the weirdest thing. I always had hot Christmas, now it's cold and rainy. But it's a much better life in every sense
I moved from the Netherlands to Australia, and am in my 8th year here now and I'm still not used to Christmas being in summer, it just does not feel like Christmas haha. I also think a lot of people underestimate, at least in my experience how long, time consuming and expensive the visa process can be. I came here on a 4 year student visa, then went to a graduate visa once I graduated. Then I didn't meet the criteria to apply for residency, as I didn't find a job in my field, so then I went on a Covid visa (at least it was food for something haha), which was for 12 months, and I didn't really have many option after that, I could have gone with a working holiday visa, but you need to leave the country to apply for it, or another student visa (but hello international student fees). Luckily for me I ran into my boyfriend and we're applying for a partner visa, which is so much work to put together, so time consuming and so expensive! But at least once that it all sorted I don't have to worry about visa's anymore haha.
Ooh I can't wait for the sunshine chicken coop! 🌞💕 I was wondering about how you can pick out Woolson from a group of sheep! Aww it's beautiful to know that Waddles is happy in the wild. 💛 I love following your journey!! I have the same mindset when it comes to letting life unfold without placing expectations on how/when things will happen ✨️
Love your videos! I'm also a NZ citizen(born there) but grew up in Canada and then moved to Australia 10 years ago. It took a while but we're pretty used to Christmas in the summer now. You end up developing new traditions that I think we'd really miss if we ever moved back! BTW, I wanted to let you know to stock up on Cholula when you see it as sometimes it disappears for long bouts..we love it too :)
Write down how you want your future to look. Make it compelling. Make it clear. This is your vision. Read it once a week. Work hard. Be patient. Believe in you. Have faith. Don’t quit. And, make sure you like your vision because it’s going to become your reality.
Its a shame that the 1st of May is Duck shooting season, I have to admit that I was one of them. I'm at an age where food vs conservation....go figure?
I am a huge fan and have been for years (and still am!!) but as a working therapist greatly upsets me to see you work with better help bc I don’t actual think if aligns with your values and I’m not sure how much research you’ve done with them. Please consider researching better help from how they sell clients date to third parties (which is against our aca ethical code), provide poor services, prey on counselors with limited permits and prey on the gig economy of counseling and therapy, and tracks every time you login for a session or communicate with your therapist via social media which is also not ethical bc it goes against confidality. I understand bh has created this image that they are accessible but in reality, they are putting vulnerable ppl at further risk. Thank you if you read this and thank you for maybe choosing to rethink further brand deals. Ultimately I can’t force you to make this decision but I hope it inspires you to check it out further.
I respect and appreciate your opinions, but please know I would never recommend something I don’t believe in. I’ve been using Better Help weekly for over 6 months now and I can honestly say that it’s been such a positive experience for me. It may not be right for everyone, but it works for me and my mental health. Thank you for your thoughts here as it’s always good to do the research.
Just commented about this as well. Carrie, I’m glad it’s been a positive experience for you, and I hope you take some time to learn more about the company outside of your own experience as a person who clearly has influence over supporters who trust you.
I know this is a bit personal & not something you answered in this video… do you & Alex plan on starting a family in NZ? Do you want kids? No judgment if kids aren’t for you. I acknowledge not everyone wants children and that’s fine, just curious ☺️
Oh come on. You can't beat Christmas at the beach, and Christmas BBQ's with friends and family. Kids playing outside in the sun, cold beer's with that burnt BBQ'd steak sandwich, bliss. When you guy's start popping out kids it costs you nothing compared to the obscene amount you'd pay in US hospitals just to touch your own baby, you'll be raising them here for some time to come. As long as you have Internet to keep in touch and airplanes keep flying, there's no reason to move back, like why would you want to leave?
Carrie, your videos are always the coziest and I’m always excited when you and Alex post. Thank you!
She’s the “Cozy Queen”
yay thank you for watching 💕💕
here in 2023, Happy New Year!
The Waddles story is so stinking sweet; love it, Lol 🦆

Hi Carrie! You can turn on wifi calling on your iPhone and make local calls that way. It was a lifesaver for me when I started living rurally! :)
wait what this is new information! I’ll have to try it!!

Came here to say the same! Wifi calling is great!

Definitely try wifi calling. I’m not sure if all carriers support it so you may have to switch. Also greytown has a Christmas festival in July 😀
be well Waddles. :) xoxo
can’t wait to see house updates!
Can’t wait to share! ☺️
You can always do Christmas in July!!
You can make calls over WiFi just turn WiFi calling in your settings :)
At my family Bach, the only cellphone reception is when you’re waist deep in the sea 😂
hahah love that
Regarding the phone service, what happens in case of an emergency?

Will you have to go through the citizen process all over again if you decide to move back to the United States?
For the US or NZ? I won’t have to go through citizenship to re-enter the US. I will always be a US citizen.
@@CarrieRad oh i didn't realize you could be a citizen of 2 countries, that's cool
@@shilohmorris5527 It's called dual citizenship and many people have it. Alex does for example.

I think you are overestimating how much the average person lets “BBQ” dictate their life. 🤣 I’m from Canada and winter doesn’t stop us from BBQing…
@@sallyrice3902 I can't imagine BBQing under 2m of snow. 😂
