I’ve thought about buying ETFs on margin. If I have $50,000 in cash and borrow $200,000 on Margin (debt), I could use the cash to cover a margin call to pay off the debt in a crash. I’m just nervous about rising interest rates

The path to building significant wealth is different than the path of preserving that wealth. If you're willing to wait until 65 to have any significant sum of money, then sure, do it. Otherwise, it makes sense to invest some real effort and research into a select few companies, and use it to build up an initial wealth base. Once you get to the 3mm or so level, play it safe and live off of your dividend investments.

I’ve thought about buying ETFs on margin. If I have $50,000 in cash and borrow $200,000 on Margin (debt), I could use the cash to cover a margin call to pay off the debt in a crash. I’m just nervous about rising interest rates

Can someone please clarify something for me? He said that stocks shouldn't be higher than 5% of your portfolio. Is that 5% per individual stock or 5% total from all individual stocks combined? I hope my question made sense. Thank you

I think the comments on diversification make sense for Graham, but not necessarily your average person investing. The path to building significant wealth is different than the path of preserving that wealth. If you're willing to wait until 65 to have any significant sum of money, then sure, do it. Otherwise, it makes sense to invest some real effort and research into a select few companies, and use it to build up an initial wealth base. Once you get to the 3mm or so level, play it safe and live off of your dividend investments.
