  • Straight up plug and play Chinese Android 9” touch screen upgrade for a 2014 Kia Rio. Plenty of additional features and options for upgrading including DVR function of front and rear dash cams, rear view camera, cellular data for streaming and downloading apps etc.
    Very easy direct replacement that looks as good as OEM and maintains all factory controls and features.

      @@sworei5716 as long as everything is plugged in properly it should work. Just confirm the plugs are pushed in tight and no loose cables. If that doesn’t work and everything is good, try holding the reset button for at least 3 seconds to reset and reboot the system. If this fails you may have a faulty system. There shouldn’t be any lines on the screen either. Document everything and make a claim if it doesn’t work properly. I haven’t had a problem until for several years now, but even the big manufacturers have DOA issues

      See link below. She is very happy with the head unit and it looks great. Spend the extra money on the larger memory and faster processor, it runs far smoother. The wireless CarPlay does take a little bit to connect, probably close to 10 seconds or so. Otherwise, use an external microphone, the one in the head unit is crappy. Value for money and functions, you can’t go wrong.

    Hey, did you install a canbus, didnt see you plug it in. How can you do steering wheel without it?

    • @GrantFixes
      @GrantFixes  10 дней назад

      @@itehskulled no, canbus is not required for steering wheel controls on most vehicles. Typically it’s 2 wires with varying resistance for each control output and that’s why you need to program the steering wheel controls to the head unit. These wires are already connected in the harness provided. Only vehicles running full CanBus need a decoder box, ie Fibre Optic or units like the Peugeot’s that control additional features through the head unit to the BCM for menus and setting the time etc.

    Great video, can you still use the OEM car mic and USB port with this kind of unit?

    • @GrantFixes
      @GrantFixes  3 месяца назад

      Yes you can. I did explain in the video which cables you need to connect to use the microphone. I am going to be connecting it on this car as Sarah has said the call quality is very poor with the microphone in the unit. The OEM USB in this car was not working before and didn’t work afterwards, must be faulty. It isn’t required for CarPlay anyway.

      You can change the name of the unit for Bluetooth search in the Bluetooth app settings. You can also change the passcode there.
      I’m not very Android savvy but I’m sure you can change the units name in the android settings, just like on a phone.
      Good luck with it all and keep me posted. I love seeing other people DIYing.

      I actually just installed a complete microphone on the car last weekend. The plug is very easy to fit to the factory wiring and I would’ve done that but I had a spare microphone and not a plug.
      The unit installed was an 8 core 2.0gHz processor with 6gB RAM and 128gB ROM. It works great without glitches and is pretty responsive.
      This is a link for the correct jack/plug
      au.rs-online.com/web/p/jack-plugs-sockets/0392633
      It’s available through most electronics stores and online most places. You solder the black to the outside tongue and the red to the centre.
      I can do a video of it if it helps, let me know.
