- In this video, I speak about the potential benefits of Mexican Sunflower ( Tithonia Diversifolia ) as a Green Manure in a permaculture garden. And document the progress of my plants. For this first chapter, propagation and growth rate are the main focus.
Future videos will test the studies / claims made about its nutrient content more thoroughly.

Thanks. I shared this video to my garden friends. I planted it all around my home garden. I love the honey scent flowers that attract the bees and other pollinators.😊
Great video Thanks! I love Mex Sunflower!
Great video! I have this plant which spread under a fence from my neighbors yard and it creates great biomass. I use it as mulch and in compost. I’m happy to know how to propagate it, thanks! 🌱🌱🌱
I use all parts of this Mexican sunflowers as fertilizer for my banana trees and other plants too.
So many of these plants in my fields and my garden 🤩
Really helpful video, your plants are looking great 👍🌿🌱
Thanks you so much! They have been a joy to grow. Soon i'll be making a video showing how I made them into liquid fertilizer for my garden. There are so many cool uses for these plants and i'm excited to share them!
@@Grow_Everything Great 👍😃
@@Grow_Everything; I read somewhere it is very medicinal please keep us informed on that if you find something out.
Great video. When you say they are hardy, how much winter cold and/or wet do they survive in your experience?
I'm trying to get mine through the winter here by mulching & protecting the root base so I can propagate again next spring.
Amazing I'm trying this
Nice information. What colors do they come in?
Mexican Sunflower ranges from yellow to orange and almost red. But the only variety used for soil building / fertilization is Yellow flowered Tithonina Diversifolia due to it's unique ability to accumulate nutrients and grow as a shrub like perennial year round. The other variety Tithonia Rotundifolia grows as an annual. It will produce beautiful red-ish orange flowers but isn't necessarily a great source of soil nutrition.
