He meant that its easy to be philosophical about certain things when you are struggling or poor but when you become rich, you realize the actual tramps and temptations that would encourage you to negate even your own philosophical views. Therefore, he is saying that despite being rich and having all access to numerous temptations, if you can remain philosophical even then, then you've truly acquired the essence of philosophy.

What I like about SRK is that, when he started to act, he was not from a rich family, or from a family with a famous cinematic history. He was just an unknown guy. And now he is here, the 2nd richest actor in the world. He is really the best example of "hard work" that most people don't believe in.
Dude his mother did not study at Oxford. Yes, she was from a wealthy family, but his father was very proud, he refused to take anything from the family of his wife. She was high court judge and working with difficult teenagers. The family is completely ruined, when his father became ill, they sold everything to pay for his treatment, which were very expensive. Swades, Chak De India, Paheli, My Name is Khan just to name a few weren't at all the typical "bollywood formulaic films". The industry is progressing and so are the audiences, cinema is becoming more than just a time pass entertainment and I am sure as time goes on there will more good realistic films but there will also be more good "formulated" films, as there is more than enough space for both! His films I've seen I have liked and taken something worthwhile from them. I think my all time favorite is My Name Is Kahn. It is a movie you can sit down with the whole family and enjoy. The movie Dil So was a good movie as well with an interesting premise. The ending brought tears to my eyes. His romantic comedies are wonderful makes you laugh, and the singing and dancing is out of this world. Good job SRK. This was a great lecture.

I liked DDLJ and saw it MANY TIMES & I was 15 when Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released. I went to the movies with my mom & sister. After the movie my moms friend asked me if i liked him, i told her “I love him”. I was never more sure in my life. I spoke with so much conviction and clarity, i spoke with no doubt or fear that i was in love with Shah Rukh Khan.
I living in mumbai..or as it is called as the city of bollywood, would like to share a small story about ShahRukh Khan on his early days of struggle in mumbai:- When he could not find a substantial break through in the movies after his early movies not working well ( which he even mentions in his speech- Deewana and chamatkar) he was really dejected with his work and life. One fine day sitting in a depressed mood on the seashore of mumbai .. he uttered in an ambitious voice.. "ONE DAY I WILL RULE THIS CITY".. and then the rest to follow was history. Love you Shah.. What I like about SRK is that, when he started to act, he was not from a rich family, or from a family with a famous cinematic history. He was just an unknown guy. And now he is here, the 2nd richest actor in the world. He is really the best example of "hard work" that most people don't believe in.
Dude his mother did not study at Oxford. Yes, she was from a wealthy family, but his father was very proud, he refused to take anything from the family of his wife. She was high court judge and working with difficult teenagers. The family is completely ruined, when his father became ill, they sold everything to pay for his treatment, which were very expensive. When he died the family had lost home for the debts. His mother worked several jobs to give children a good education. Shah Rukh has always believed that the mother killed themselves with work.When Shah first arrived in Mumbai, he slept on the benches. Did you miss the part where its mentioned that he adopted 12 villages and is doing everything is can to provide children of India with education? Or the part where he is helping burn victims? "Chasing girls half is age" Really? Is Kajol half is age? Is Madhuri? Is Juhi? does are the actresses he has done most of his movies with. Or do you mean Deepika?
I agree that thought process of heroines having a "shelf life" or not getting good roles after a certain age while heroes get to prance around till they are in their 70s with young new heroines. But this isn't Shah Rukh's fail, he works with maybe actresses regardless of their age, its what the character requires for. Maybe you want to take a look at other bollywood starts who only work with actress under 30 and play the same character of the hero who saves the damsel in distress without wearing a shirt over and over again? And this problem isn't a bollywood only issue, it's present everywhere in the world and definitely should change but It isn't only Shah Rukh's responsibility.
I know a ton of Non Indians watching Bollywood movies, especially SRK movies, me being one of them. And as far as insulting formulaic bollywood movies go, ever heard of hollywood? Ever seen the amount of formulated movies they make with Zero content? Its part of the industry, there going to be typical formulated films along with realistic film. Swades, Chak De India, Paheli, My Name is Khan just to name a few weren't at all the typical "bollywood formulaic films". The industry is progressing and so are the audiences, cinema is becoming more than just a time pass entertainment and I am sure as time goes on there will more good realistic films but there will also be more good "formulated" films, as there is more than enough space for both!
And as for his son, if his children want to become actors then OF COURSE HE IS GOING TO HELP HIS KIDS GET IN THE INDUSTRY! Are you kidding? I don't know what your father does, but if you wanted to join his profession I am sure he would help you out too! Even if he doesn't directly help you with contacts he will help you by teaching you about the profession and advising you! Thats parents do!
But of course, You are one of the of the "Haters" for the lack of a better word, you will whine and cry and shout and scream about how much you dislike him or how he isn't any good but at the end of the day your hate and negative energy is only fucking with you. His films I've seen I have liked and taken something worthwhile from them. I think my all time favorite is My Name Is Kahn. It is a movie you can sit down with the whole family and enjoy. The movie Dil So was a good movie as well with an interesting premise. The ending brought tears to my eyes. His romantic comedies are wonderful makes you laugh, and the singing and dancing is out of this world. Good job SRK. This was a great lecture.

I liked DDLJ and saw it MANY TIMES & I was 15 when Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released. I went to the movies with my mom & sister. After the movie my moms friend asked me if i liked him, i told her “I love him”. I was never more sure in my life. I spoke with so much conviction and clarity, i spoke with no doubt or fear that i was in love with Shah Rukh Khan.

I living in mumbai..or as it is called as the city of bollywood, would like to share a small story about ShahRukh Khan on his early days of struggle in mumbai:-
When he could not find a substantial break through in the movies after his early movies not working well ( which he even mentions in his speech- Deewana and chamatkar) he was really dejected with his work and life. One fine day sitting in a depressed mood on the seashore of mumbai .. he uttered in an ambitious voice.. "ONE DAY I WILL RULE THIS CITY".. and then the rest to follow was history.
