tbh I started crying at the second song when watching and I didnt stop 💀
It is particularly bumpy if you were aware of Bo's struggle with mental health going in. I don't think I laughed once during it, I just felt dread and sympathetic.
Someone said 'Inside is the funniest psychological horror I've ever seen' and that's a whole mood. I watched it with my partner after dinner and we spent the rest of the evening just sitting on the couch, staring into the distance. What do you do after watching this? Can't distract yourself from the feeling it's left you with, because you're too self aware for that now. This special has really been haunting me.
Same. I finished it and was like "what am I supposed to do with all of this?". It is a masterpiece, don't get me wrong, I am so glad I watched it, but processing it was hard.
Simple. You watch it over and over again. Make it your comfort special/movie...
wow you explained that so well. Inside has left me with that exact feeling. Every time i do something or watch back on bo’s old stuff i cannot watch it the same because the special is constantly in the back of my mind

I smoked weed then drank a smoothie, that cures the vague horror and racing thoughts long enough for you to go to sleep, then you can deal with the existential crisis and incoming panic attack at 5:45 am before you head to your minimum wage office job :D

Honestly, my reaction though. Lol inside was rough but also cathartic. I wish he didn't feel like he had to but I really appreciate him being so authentic and sharing his genuine feelings, especially with something like this.

I agree. They’re both about how our relationships have been dehumanized to digital exchanges devoid of meaning. They both illustrate the disconnect.
"even if its not real, its real" has been my argument for this whole thing.
I feel this dichotomy between the critics of Inside because its either "Its a 100% real look inside Bo's depressed mind and someone needs to see if he's ok" and "He's a filmmaker and everything he did was scripted". But what you said hit the nail on the head for why its both - his personal experiences have led him to document and script a representation of what it was like to be isolated and depressed and so many other things.
I love hearing your take, though. I really respect and appreciate your point of view.
Also, as someone with GAD and depression, the fact you're able to get better through therapy and medication doesn't mean what you felt when your mental illness flared up isn't real or that remembering how you felt back then doesn't give you "that funny feeling" (ehhh ;D) even though you're in a better place now. I laugh at myself, crack jokes about my own mental illness with other people who have it, and share my experience in as lighthearted a way as I can now that I'm off my meds with others who are JUST starting to get medicated now, that doesn't mean what I felt wasn't real, or that I can't draw upon those experiences now. This special made me extremely uncomfortable when I watched it alone, and I probably wouldn't have been able to laugh at it if I watched it a few months ago. Bo's message is real for many of us regardless if it was "real" when he recorded the special

as rough and raw as the journey was, the final shot is Bo starting to crack a smile as he reviews the shot of him locked out of the house. That along with a line from all the way at the start, during Content, "going to try getting back to work, might not help, but couldn't hurt." That's the vibe I'm choosing to take away from all of Inside.

Inside really got me to be honest. I guess nobody really talks about the parts of anxiety that arent just fast heartbeats and unregulated breathing and he did. I had to pause the special a few times when I was watching because of how much I felt like how he felt haha. I watch the special alot now, it can be hard to finish it sometimes but its comforting.
For me it felt validating, in a way, to see that everyone has been struggling similar to me through last year. Even the “untouchable fame” was affected. It made me feel raw and fragile, but also less alone.
Yes! I'm a teacher who taught from home for the last year, but the first time I watched this special, I was like, "Yes! This I exactly how I felt!" I think Inside is the best thing that came out of the last year.

Got a part of "All eyes on me" tattooed on myself. I've never felt this much for another person than I did for Bo in this special. I also resonated with alot of it, it was really sad and also comforting in the same way. I literally cannot describe what this special did to me. Bo and Inside have my whole heart and I'll never be the same, in a good way. I just hope Bo is doing good, he truly deserves the best, I also hope you're doing well! I sadly cannot put into words how much love and respect I have in my heart for Bo.

That part struck me deeply and personally immediately when I listened to it for the very first time. I find a kind of comfort in those lines, to not worry about the whole world and overthinking every single thing. Cause if the world was going to end I cannot slow it or stop it either way so why try. I hope this makes sense it's kinda hard for me to explain but there ya go!

that line about the ocean rising and the world having ending already kicked off a month long existential crisis for me but i think i came out on the other end more equipped to handle reality lol. i've been thinking of getting "it's almost over it's just begun" tattooed to remember what i got out of that existential crisis- the world is ending, yeah, but so is our individual worlds. life is short and one day no one will be around to remember if you f*cked it all up so do your best to live how you want to

Since this artist went away for a period of years, I feel like we're already experiencing something totally new with this. It's only a rule you made up for yourself that you were supposed to go in not knowing anything about an artist. It makes me feel bad that you think you couldn't share this without violating some kind of rule.
you could also make a series like ‘YOU SHOULD BE STANNING: …’ and share someone who’s work you love!! it’d be a nice connection between you and your audience!!
I think maybe for artists your already into you should just have a parallel segment just called "STAN-NING: where I explore and discuss things I LOVE because I want to share them with you!"

This special Bo did is indescribable. The mental struggle is real. His creativity is above the rest. Genius. This resonated so much with me and peices of myself during many mental health struggles along with this critical view of the world. Glad you did this Bill. Hope you are well.

I saw the thumbnail and went "oh no" Bo is a genius, I've followed him for a long time, but it was so hard to watch, hit so close to home in some places and overall very very heavy 😔 hope he gets all the care he needs :(
I’ve watched Inside three times as of now, and it’s one of the most powerful things I’ve experienced in a while. My first watch was more of a visual and musical experience but I didn’t get super emotional until my second viewing where the tears just started flowing at the end of That Funny Feeling, and all through the end. Bo’s speech in All Eyes on Me when he talks about how he wanted to come back in my litteral birthday month where I turned 30, where I also had big hopes about this new decade of my life before the pandemic happened and changed my views on everything, really hit hard on me. Inside is such a powerful piece of art that takes you on an emotional and intellectual journey, and resonates in so many different ways. I wasn’t super familiar with Bo before, but I’m so glad I watched Inside and his other stage works. He is a deeply intelligent and creative person and I love him so much.
I woke up with "but look I made you some content" as literally my FIRST thought the other day, I was amazed. Like before I was even fully conscious my brain was singing "daddy made you your favorite, open wide," and I woke up completely enthralled with how much Inside impacted me. Like yes the music is all amazing and showcases Bo's talent but holy shit he has grown up so fucking much - his insights and observations alone are noteworthy for any human but to show those observations with a piece of surrealist art? Fuck, man, Bo is incredible. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings, and your line at the end, "I hope this is what you wanted" felt very much like Can't Handle This. I hope you're okay. I think Inside impacted content creators the most out of his audience, and I say that after watching maybe a dozen reactions to various parts of Inside. The creators I've watched feel so seen and horrified by Inside.
bo is one of the very few 'content creators' who isnt afraid to address things that actually matter to people, things that cut deep because they affect almost all of us on a day to day basis. he doesnt really have much of a filter, these things have meaning to him and he knows that they mean just as much to us
I haven't watched your videos for long, but I could immediately tell that you were very nervous about how this video would be received. When I first watched one of your videos, I was really intrigued by your interpretation of the music. Honestly, it made me appreciate the music even more. However you feel, whatever your thoughts are, we want to hear it. That's why we're here! The first time I watched Inside it SHATTERED me. For real. I was actually scared to revisit it. I have agoraphobia and man, did it hit hard. But I did rewatch and I’m glad! I got more out of it the following viewings and the emotions were less. Still there, but more manageable.

When I first started watching and listening to Bo I got the same message and that it’s okay to feel hurt by the words that people call us

About the blue rose, I believe it's meant as a twin peaks reference (Bo is very obviously deeply inspired by Lynch) You can look it up but basically, it is a thing that does not exist in nature, it's man made. Thorw in the shadow hand trying to grab it and... It's a lot.

Thank you for always giving us your genuine reactions in your videos, instead of some kind of "forced nice" for the camera. There are so many channels out there that stop and start and feel like they need to over-explain every verse of a song before they've even finished it, without letting the first listen take them on the journey and pace that the artist intended. I appreciate your format of listening first before picking out each lyric.
You're the only person reacting on RUclips who I've heard say "should I be making this?" while watching Inside - it shows how much you resonate with Bo. This was exactly the raw emotional experience and musings that I've been looking for.
One of the reasons I watch reaction vids is for the emotional catharsis of seeing another person feel the same things I felt when watching something. I tend to be very isolated due to mental illness, so they help me feel less alone and like I am a human being (which I don't fell like I am a lot of the time).

I watched this for the first time two nights ago... The night after I got admitted to a mental health facility. Sitting watching someone so beautifully put into words and actions the kind of slow, tormented downward spiral that I've personally been dealing with (from the comfort of a hospital bed with someone permanently stationed outside your door) is probably the most epically ironical slam back into the real world I've ever experienced. That snap back from a dissociative episode is exactly how you describe it - whiplash. I really appreciate you're take on this and how you use your own personal experience to draw on the depth and impact on what Bo's managed to create here. Everyone has their own story, and we can all find things we deeply empathise with - and it's important we talk about our own experiences with mental health, even though most people feel like we shouldn't for fear of "making it all about us". Talking about mental health and our own experiences with the highs and lows of it all is really important for education and for healing. I hope that all makes sense.
I love listening to you digest things out loud! The friends I have that would have these kinds of conversations with me are all far away so it's so comforting to listen to you talk about these things. I know it's not a conversation but it's still important mental stimulation. 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with this music, I for one really appreciated you handling this with the gravity it deserves. It is such a special thing to see other people's perspectives on something that, for me at least, was super impactful on my life.
