Phillip Lahm is definitely top 5 tobs and Mah are lost man
Alves actually performed for Brazil, leading them to Copa America 2019 when Neymar was injured. And he did it when he was old. Marcelo has always been defensively poor though, which is why Mourinho and Ancelotti (initially) chose Coentrao over him in big games. Marcelo was key for Madrid in UCL, but mainly in 16/17 and 17/18. 13/14 Coentrao started the bigger games, including the final. Casemiro often covered the spaces Marcelo left at LB and I think Lahm overall is more complete. The defensive aspect MUST be considered more highly. Great video still! :)
Completely agree with Lahm being more complete than Marcelo and that the defensive aspect needs to be mentioned more.
Maicon started ahead of Dani Alves at RB in the 2010 world cup. If you compare with the full-backs on this list, he was not particularly good for the national team
@@AB-jg1ny Alves came on as a sub still. I think they chose Maicon cos of his 09/10 Inter season, and cos Michel Bastos was LB. So having both him and Alves (too attacking) wasnt the right balance

You know what I went blank when I was trying to think of Italians aside from one name it’s actually insane there isn’t an Italian mentioned personally Maldini the King of defenders should be in any CB LB top 5 it’s non debatable, over 20 years at peak level it’s a no brainier for me.

finally someone talked about not liking how pep put lahm into CDM. pep's 13/14 bayern season, i felt he wanted to do many things different. he initially tried to put ribery as number 10 but it failed. he wanted schweinsteiger at CDM instead of martinez who wasnt technically gifted. but due to injuries he went for Lahm

Dani Alves is the best offensively. But overall Cafu is the better full-back. Maicon started ahead of him in 2010 world cup for a reason. Also Tobs has a howler there comparing Lahm to Marcelo. Marcelo was often benched for Coentrao by Mourinho and Ancelotti, because he had weaknesses defensively. He is better technically, but Lahm more complete and way better full-back than him.
A player who don‘t make the list for me as well, but deserves a shout is Lizarazu. Growing up in germany at that time he is probably the best i‘ve seen after Lahm in the league and for France very important in World Cup and Euros win 98 and 2000
