- This week, beginner blacksmith, Rusty Pearson, is making tools for the new hardy hole in his anvil. Starting with a DIY hold down (holdfast) tool, that would normally go in the pritchel hole, he's working with what he's got. Enjoy the mistakes and learnings along the way.

We done. You are the inbodyment of just get out and do it. Even if you don't have the high doll tools. Just be a maker. Nice job
That works fantastic! I need to make one for my anvil. Thanks for the motivation.
Uncle Bucks Forge glad to motivate!
Good job ! The rebar is springy steel.
You did well for your short anvil, well done matey.
Thanks Len.
Rebar great idea
Nice job, just what I was looking for, thank's mate
Top draw again mate 👍🇬🇧
Thanks Johny B!
Rusty Pearson r u going for the spring fuller next mate?
It's definitely early on the list.
I made one this afternoon, perfect
Great to hear!
Nice work man I made one for one of my first videos I also use a weighted chain to hold things down
Nice! I made one myself but it’s too flimsy and it easily bends out of shape. Didn’t think rebar would hold up but it looks like it’s working well.
If I'm going to make tools like hold fasts, log dogs, hinges, wood working chisels and the like how heavy of an anvil and hammer should i be looking for? anvils seem so pricey (at least here in the US) $2.50/ LB or more. so 90 kilo = 380 GBP.
can it hold different thicknesses?
It certainly can. It adjusts to the thickness, which is why it's ideal for this sort of thing.
I like the anvil, but the weld spatter around the horn triggered my OCD lol
