Brilliant way to introduce SQL. I had an opportunity to see the Datacamp course and in the first video they start with select from - while you do not even understand from where you are selecting and what. Your approach is excellent, really pedagogical! Thanks
This is the ideal channel I been looking!! Just subbed started excel 5 months ago - with the intention of mastering sql afterwards, then python pandas after that ... long journey ahead, made easier by your content :)
Thank you for your videos, David! Im trying to implement R in hospital to create automatic adverse effect reports, and your videos are very inspiring and helpful!
Thank you so much for this! I’m a scientist trying to transition into Data Analytics and I know SQL,tailored my resume to analytics, but I’m still having a hard time finding a entry level Data Analyst position; ive been applying for the past year but then Covid happened. Would you have any advice for me to break into the field? Hopefully learning Python or R and Power BI or Tableau will help.
Just bumped into your channel u are to the SQL what mike grivin is to the excel I have learnt advanced excel now SQL later on power bi so my question is your playlist going to be enough I want to be a business analyst rather than a programmer or coder so what should I learn in sql
Thank you for the kind words! This video series is an introduction and will get you quite far. However, I would suggest getting the following most excellent books from Itzik Ben-Gan if you're serious about using SQL as a Business/Data Analyst to continue your learning: www.amazon.com/T-SQL-Fundamentals-3rd-Itzik-Ben-Gan/dp/150930200X/ www.amazon.com/T-SQL-Window-Functions-Developer-Reference/dp/0135861446/
hey guys, question - i am trying to download SSMS v19.0.2 and every time the download keeps failing. Everything else has downloaded just fine, im not sure why its just this file thats unable to download. Any ideas?
Hi David, Firstly thank you very much. I was looking for this. Can I ask a few questions 1. I use Dbeaver and connects to all types of databases and excel and I am able to write a few SQL queries, can I use it to save and retreive data from excel 2. Can I Implement this SQL connected Excel on Sharepoint so that I can create forms which multiple users can use ( may be Tkinter / Flask connected to EXCEL / SQL or sorry you love R, which I will run from you, Can I use R language (R based GUI ?) with Excel and SQL as backend ? 3. Can I run above on sharepoint ? 4. What are these two services related to SQL (SQLTELEMETRY & SQLWriter) should I Start/Stop these two services as well ? Thanks a ton Sir.
Greetings! Here's my attempt to answer your questions: 1 - I'm not familiar with Dbeaver and its features. 2 & 3 - I'm not SharePoint expert, but as I recall you can embed SQL in an Excel spreadsheet hosted on SharePoint. A quick Google gave me this: techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/sharepoint-bi/excel-services-and-on-premises-sql-data/m-p/3263/page/2 4 - You don't these services, so you can set them to "Manual" start.
@@DaveOnData Thank you David. Once I have completed your course, I will explore for practical use in office. I appreciate your time to answer my questions and your awesome explanation takes along every one at all skills. Cheers
Sir I was working on the R programming project about Titanic in ggplot as you were doing , i wrote the same as you were doing but I got a bug which I couldn't resolve as you mentioned It says x is discrete and can't initialise w why is that
Have you downloaded the source code from the GitHub? Most folks find they can diagnose their bugs by comparing their code to the GitHub code. Also, as I noted in the video descriptions/comments there have been some changes over the years (e.g., in ggplot2) that I've incorporated into the GitHub code.
Hey Guys, a quick update. If you are using windows 8.1 then install windows server 2017 or else it won't work on your machine. David can you please suggest if there are any other alternatives to this at the moment.
Hey Dave, I was changing the start up type for SQL server on my laptop from automatic to manual but the button is grayed out not able to select anything. Please advise!!
First, and I know this sounds stupid, please reboot your machine if you haven't already. A reboot often fixes problems. Second, can you check outher SQL Server-related services (e.g., the SQL Server Agent). Do you have the same problem?
That depends on how you've setup your cloud database. For example, if you setup a VPN you connect to the cloud VPN from your local machine and connect with SSMS on your local machine and talk to the cloud DB via the VPN. The simplest solution is to RDP into the VM running SQL Server and use SSMS on the VM. I will be posting a video tomorrow morning that shows how to do this.
Is Microsoft sql server management studio with azure data studio same which you have downloaded or different will it work on SQL 2019 developer one not the azure one please help
I personally use SSMS. Azure Data Studio can connect to on-premise SQL Server, so you have options. Take a look at the following blog post: towardsdatascience.com/azure-data-studio-or-ssms-which-should-i-use-1db49824a39

The easiest alternative is to use the Microsoft Azure cloud using a free account. I have a video on that as well.

Are all the services grayed out in the same way?
Also, is it possible you are using an account that is not an admin on your machine?
@@DaveOnData Yes Dave all services are grayed out and it's my work laptop.
