Bremer Bay & Ravensthorpe Ep.77 Roadtrip Australia

- Well it was time to move onto Bremer Bay. We checked into the Bremer Bay caravan park for 2 nights. The park had a deal on which was pay for 3, stay for 4. When i asked about this, i was told it was only for seniors, which was a bit of a shame. We headed down to the jetty for an afternoon fish. Kurt caught heaps of herring and somehow managed to catch a rock cod in our crab net. Yep he’s that talented .
The next day, we drove around checking out the different beaches and throwing a line in. Lots more herring and 3 salmon - which jumped off our hooks, right in front of us as we were reeling them in towards the rocks. It was a nice day regardless of the salmon escapees. All hitched up after our two night stay, we opted to drive down the road onto the beach (where the estuary meets the ocean) and park up for a couple of hours and have another fish. Yep you guessed it, just more bloody herring.
Ravensthorpe Silo Art
We ate lunch at the local park, then decided it was time to head to our next camp spot, which we had Ravensthorpe pinned. We pulled into the free RV rest-stop in town and setup for the night. Nothing fancy just a patch of un-level dirt in the heart of town for self contained campers. Since it was our two year anniversary for being on the road, we decided to go to the pub to celebrate. We love a parmy and a pint, which was our meal of choice.
Next stop Esperance (and we can’t bloody wait)!!

So good. WA is definitely one of the most beautiful states in the country. Next July i have a big 7 week trip planned through the desert from Coober Pedy along the Anne Beadell Highway up to Laverton, Karijini National Park, Port Headland up to Broome then Cape Levique, Gibb River Road, Kununurra, Lake Argyle, Wolfe Creek Crater, Tanami Track, Alice Springs then Lambert's Geographical Centre of Australia, Chambers Pillar where the trip will end at Kulgera Roadhouse. It's with a camper trailer club and i just can't wait! But i'm really hanging out to hit the West coast! Cable Beach in Broome etc. I want to catch a fish on the west coast. And i won't leave until i do! LOL. I will definitely retire up there somewhere, so beautiful. Your videos just give me extra inspiration AND knowledge about our beautiful country. You've sold me. I'm gonna become a patron.
Love it!! Thank you so much for being a patreon. Your going to love our next episodes especially going through the Goldfields, its beautiful country. That's a great route you have picked, loads to see! Hopefully we can pump out some 'before you leave check these' or 'what spare parts we took' videos, would they help you out?
@@Sparkysontheloose my pleasure legends! I'm really looking forward to your next uploads! Prep videos are always good! I would be arrogant if I said they wouldn't help me out as there's always something we haven't thought of before a big trip, no matter how good at preparing we think we are. So yes I'd love to see videos like that and they would help many others too! Cheers guys! I bought a stubby cooler!
Another great clip thanks
Awesome video, thanks! We just did a trip to Bremer bay and loved the beaches. Your drone shots of blossoms beach are amazing and make me want to go back.
Lucky dog living the dream !
Those squeeky toys are fierce in W.A hey Kurt lol. Love those beaches
Hahaha! They come out of no where! It's funny when rusty hears them while we are editing.
Man how beautiful is Bremer Bay! Those landscape drone shots are gorgeous! Great video guys 👏👏
Cheers guys 🤙🤙
Good on yah legends love watching your videos
Cheers Robert 🤙
Man this place is beautiful! Great vlog you guys! We absolutely loved our South West Coast trip! Enjoy! 👏👏👏
Loved this video. It was a pity that you did not stay in that area for long as there was so many places to explore free camping can be found in some off these places. The mill you found was a mine the poppett head had been removed many years ago. Where Kurt got stung by the bee was the shaft now filled in. The mines name was the Mouri Queen the other image with a head frame in it was the Yellvetton Mine a rich copper and gold mine. It is now full of water. Keep up the good work cheers Daryle
Haha Kurt was right after all! We would love to hang around longer but everyday on the road costs money so we do our best. Most people would've just drove straight through Ravens.
Morning Sparkies....... Love the beach vids
Good morning!!! Cheers mate 🤙
That laugh Kurt, cracks me up every time
Ha ha ha
If you went straight to Esperance from Ravensthorpe on the main road you missed some awesome campsites and scenery along the coast. Fitzgerald National Park all the way along to Masons, Starvation and Munglinup Beach and then further along to Quagi. Stokes would have been a no-go because of Rusty but there is a heap to see along that bit of coast.
Stay tuned mate, you never know which direction we will take 😊😊🤙
Thanks for another fantastic episode. Wonderful scenery. I would really like to see a ‘catch and cook’ video! Those herrings looked good enough to eat. Happy cruising. Regards from Melbourne. Cheers. Jeff
Bugger, if I catch them again I'll get them a go. They have very mixed reviews on eating quality.
Yes, a bit like the reputation of mullet and tailor. Eaten really fresh, they are all really tasty. 👍😀🐠🐠
@@Sparkysontheloose Oh please dont underestimate herring. Like Jeff said, freshly caught and eaten they are a fine fish.
They dont freeze well so dont catch more than you can eat.
Caught and eaten the same day is the way to go, even the next night they are nice as long as they are filleted the same day as were caught.
They are also a good bait fish so i understand the trade off lol
haha i catch some monster herring in esperance which you will see in the next episode. I use them mainly for fish bait and crab bait but i only keep around 4 as the freezer is normally full of amz crap.
Great work guys! I don't get the grey nomad discount either...... Can't wait for the Esperance video!!
Cheers poppy!🤙🤙
Nice one guys pity about the salmon 🐟😥👍😎
All good we caught heaps at warra. Would've been nice though.
Hi guys drove passed your camp yesterday hope to see some nice videos of Whyalla 👍
We love the area, had some dodgy weather though which didn't help.
Hi sparkys love all your videos .first time comment long time watcher.
Excellent!! G'day Adam, thanks for watching and keep commenting and letting us know how the EPs are going. Cheers mate 🤙🤙
@@Sparkysontheloose hi guy all your videos are call my wife loves you guys and is always talking about you and how much she hates you cos your on holidays and she not😆😆😈😈. She tells s me at the moment your are in sa and about to go to ki. Hey Adam, thanks for your kind words. Which state are you guys in? we're in a bit of a whirlwind point of the trip at the moment.
@@Sparkysontheloose we live in south Australia out near roseworthy misses said she was talking to you the day about ki
Grey hair dye might be the have to be on the shopping list!
Haha a great investment.
Ah bit of local knowledge would have helped, never seen salmon caught where you parked up with the van but about 500m further around and you would have had a fighting chance.
It did surprise me a bit when you went down onto Bremer beach with the van on, credit to the NAV there!
Did you get a salmon while you were there?
I seem to recall you replying from a post in another vid that you did.
Anyways, another great vid so thanx
Local knowledge is good but it was a ghost town mate haha. I think the salmon run was on its way towards Perth so we missed it regardless. We caught one in the next episode but it was a pretty disappointing size haha.
Another great video of the south west, looking fwd to Esperance. Bee stings, scrape the sting out, don’t use tweezers.
Cheers Steve, I'll let amz know haha
Hey Guys,
Looking to do a trip down south to Bremer Bay… maybe camping at peppermint beach. Can you take camper trailers down to the beach to camp in?
Andrew
Hello Andrew, no idea sorry. Best to check wikicamp comments
Great video but I’m really surprised that you didn’t visit the beaches between Ravy and ESPERANCE such as Mason Bay, Starvation Bay, Munglinup Beach, Stokes Inlet, Quagi Beach.
Patience John, stay tuned 🤙😀
Very nice video! Your footage and edit looks great :) Doing some droning myself if you need some inspiration :)
How’d your Hankooks tyres go? I had 2 sidewalls blow hate them,
Loved them, great value for money. never had any blow outs just some punctures on the first set. For what we did they handled really well
Nice getting charitable seniors discounts at caravan parks, because given the number of us out there swarming caravan parks a seniors discount doesn’t seem to make much sense to me ☹️
It's very confusing haha
Out of interest what program to you use to process with, thanks
Adobe premier pro
@@Sparkysontheloose Thanks for that I use adobe products will have a look.
Bremer Bay, Gods own country
Question and im sorry if u have been asked a million times already, i just want to know is it hard traveling with your dog and finding places to stay also what do you do when you can't take your dog into places that you want to explore?
Our number 1 question haha. Check out our travelling with a dog podcast, it covers everything on the topic. Cheers.
What’s the song?
I have a tip for you. Buying clothes. I hate it. Trousers do you know your size. Before you put them on. Button them up and put them around you neck. If the touch right around then they fit on your waist.
Nice tip again Russ. We love shopping op shops so that will come very handy.
