Michael King My 2005 silverado 1500 has the specs as the new tahoes. 5.3L engine and a tow package 3.73s rear. The new tahoes run 3.73s for acceleration. top speed on it ungoverned is 138mph maxed. If you get a stock tahoe with th 3.42s it will easily break 140s with the limiter removed. Takes about a mile to reach but it can and will.
Ruses are a wonderful part of Cannonball lore. This was a terrific idea. Glad to hear it worked so well. I just wish I had found out about 2904 sooner.
Man I wish Caprices like these were more common. Seems they've all been snatched up and turned into clone Impalas, donked out, or trashed beyond restoration.
Paperwork is the least likeable aspect of law enforcement. For the same reason the Transcon ambulance got through, nobody wants to do paperwork if they "might" be wrong.
Awesome story. We need more horsepower! I helped to build up a 455 Olds Rocket engine with the help of a professional Winston Cup certified engine builder. With a racing cam, the engine put down around 1,000 hp and the engine was crammed into an Oldsmobile Cutlass the 80s version of that car. Always wondered where that car ended up. My friend who owned it was ordered by a judge to sell the car, after the third time in less than a year he ended up in front of the same judge for reckless speeding. Last I knew it was in Virginia.
When I was in the National Guard I was in my friends S10 pickup, which he painted in Army camouflage which radar reflecting paint. We were going about 20 over the speed limit on the highway when we got pulled over. Just got a warning, which we thought was because he couldn't get our speed on radar because of the paint.
He knew we were going fast, but he didn't pick us up on radar. I don't have radar in my car, but I know when a car is going faster then the speed of limit. It wouldn't hold up in court since I'd have to prove speeding, which is by radar or other methods, not just "in my opinion" they were speeding.
id love to compete in this challenge. im a truck driver for a living and run these roads, east to west and back, all the time. i know were you can get away with speed and where you can't. Id do well I think.
I was a civilian working on base at Vandenberg Air force Base. The rocket launch complexes are many miles out into the base and speed limits are low and heavily enforced. I used to do the same thing. When the road would dip down below the plains I'd jump on the accelerator and when I popped back up I'd slow down.
I love these videos, but if y’all keep putting the excuses on RUclips no cop will believe anything ever again. I’m gonna have to say my grandma is dying with tears running down my face to get out of a ticket
+Michael Vann Or you can do what I do: Officer: Do you know why I pulled you over? Me: Speeding. I was going 15 over sir. And no, this isn't any kind of an emergency. I just wanted to get home faster. Officer: May I see your license and insurance? Me: Sure. [10 minutes later] Officer: You know what? I really appreciate your honesty, so I'm going to give you a warning. Drive safe. Sometimes, honesty is the best policy.
Hell,i've done it all over hundreds of times, as a professional speeder; 12O on a 55 was a n usual thing for me in the 8Os and the 9Os; ny,ny,pa,ohio, etc; i was a prof.mech, and mech.engineer, had LOTS of Jags with V8s,that I MADE,buy and sell-some w/35O horses,VERY quick; i ALWAYS used my eyes, (not radar detectors, too many false positives), then slow down, take a look, and re-accelerate like a batoutahell-bless those 5.7s ,some with cams, *Wawawhiwah* ! Mind you ,I was one of the SAFEST drivers,ANYWHERE; if speed killed, you'd see those ambulances take you to the hospital at 5 mph! It's those sudden stops you need to LEARN HOW TO AVOID!! My average? ONE speeding ticket every 3 years; the last 2 were for only 14 over; only 2 points, and VERY small insurance increase(shook the trooper's hand, and thanked him, both times,he could have gotten me for twice that, but i always killed them with TRUE respectful courtesy-my father was a cop). NO ONE,i NEVER saw anyone doing what i did in 18 years in the US&A,and i knew some prof.speeders!; (i was used to driving in shitty portugal as a young man,and there were hardly any stupido speedo limitos back then-it was YOU,the CAR,the ROAD-beautiful times-gone now as all-except German-GOVs learned to ROB you.).
if you wanted to mimic a military vehicle you should've gone with diesel. the military standardised all their vehicles to run on diesel a long time ago.
When I went through the Police Academy. We used to do the mouse and cat chase. If you had the old Caprice vs the Crown. You better never lose. It was so much better. Loved it. We were racing on Moffet partial closed runway. Made a high speed turn lost a hub cap and it went flying on to the active runway with F-18 taking off. So lucky.
I really like the styling and the overall tanky feel of the Vic better than the Caprice, but yeah, the Vic's engine is a piece of garbage. Yeah sure it'll last you a long time but any V8 that takes longer than 8 seconds to reach 60 miles an hour does not deserve the bragging rights of "oh my car has a V-8 in it!!" Ford should have put the DOHC 4.6, or even the Taurus SHO twin turbo V6 in the Vic. Plus, even though DOHCs are expensive, the more you make, the overall price goes down because of the standardization, and we could have more cars with the 4.6 DOHC instead of that SOHC "V8"
You guys need the emergency van replica that Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise drove in the cannonball run !!!!! CAPTAIN CHAOS!!!!!!! Dunnn duuunn dunnnnnn
What ever happened to the car? 94-96 Caprices & Impalas are my dream cars as a kid who grew up in the 90s. I actually think that olive green looked great on it btw.
Here in the UK the Queens official car carries no number plate/tag just a crown were it should be. Unfortunately its also a one off. The old one was a standard car that enyone could buy. You definitely would not be stopped in that car.
Luka čurkovič she and Prince Philip have a number of personal cars. But the official car carries no number plate. That would be the car to do a cannon ball run. But as I said its a one off.
Hah! Messing about in odd and/or dodgy cars must be an international experience as I deffo identify as a Brit with these stories..."We floored it in the dips and slooow when we got too the crest" - Hee Hee Funnily enough we rarely get roads like that in England - The Romans started them straight and flat and humps were all fflattened out - we still got the twisties though! Love to share a few beers with you guys - if you pay!...Take care
Do Cannonball in 3 blacked out GMC Yukons. Bull bars and 4 antennas on each one. Local LE will not touch you.
ryan I want to do this now because that sounds like another level of beautiful
I don't think they will reach speed
Michael King they have ls based engines, you can throw a supercharger on top and haul ass
Luke V huge cam supercharger 4 Yukon’s haulin ass sounds like F&F IRL

I love the way this guy tells a story. I think he is on par with Ed, Doug, and Randy. The trip sounds like a ton of fun.
As a service member this one will hold a special place in my heart 😂
This would look like a real military vehicle paint if it were 1940.
Except it really should be a flat or a matte finish. But the color is spot on.
Ruses are a wonderful part of Cannonball lore. This was a terrific idea. Glad to hear it worked so well. I just wish I had found out about 2904 sooner.
Someone needs to run it in the A-Team Van.
XD
Oh, just wait.
The best answer to give here.
Waiting...
check back
iLupi they did
His voice was deep asf..I played this video with the surround sound system and my house was shaking
WATER have you tried Ed's with that?
Michael King his speakers are gonna explode.
my dad's voice, don't even hear him half the time his voice is so deep lmao.
You haven't heard Ed then lol
Rob Pitts would also be a good one to listen to on that system then
Man I wish Caprices like these were more common. Seems they've all been snatched up and turned into clone Impalas, donked out, or trashed beyond restoration.
But these days military staff cars tend to be a solid color like white, black, or dark blue, only real discernible difference is government plates.
pauljs75 yeah painting it shiny green with white stars all over it is a cliche they haven't used in 30 years
yeah we haven't driven marked vehicles since the late 80's
> used to be a 88m (Truck Driver, Ft Carson)
have you EVER seen a military convoy on an interstate? sadly that car could pass as "which way did they go?" lost the convoy.
Not all Fed vehicles have plates pauljs75
Davidautofull No, it couldn't.
That is a very strong choice for a cheap Cannonball car. Good call.
So good. Even my 2 y/o loved it, tucked in, mesmerized.
How the fuck did that work.
Watch the video, he explains how.
Paperwork is the least likeable aspect of law enforcement. For the same reason the Transcon ambulance got through, nobody wants to do paperwork if they "might" be wrong.
6 minute video felt like an hour
Enjoyed it tremendously
I’m addicted to these damn stories my buddy showed me this channel 4 days ago and I’ve listened/watched at least 25 videos lol
His dad was a green beret? Respect
I Loved this story. Great job telling it. Had to be a blast. Living on the edge for the experience.
4:20 that nod HAHAHAHA
Cool trip. I'm glad to see somebody keeps the cannonball alive. Dan Gurney (rip) and Brock Yates rock.

I could actually feel the relief when he said the cop got off on the next exit. Great story :)

Doubt it. If he pulled you over, then he knew your speed.

Everything the blues brothers ever wanted!! 🤣🤣 gold!!
We got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses." "Hit it."
My uncle has driven his 1998 e320 mercedes from Washington state to florida and back 3 times now.
The head nodding cracked me up 😅
His story about Tom Cruise is on Jalopnik today.
id love to compete in this challenge.
im a truck driver for a living and run these roads, east to west and back, all the time.
i know were you can get away with speed and where you can't.
Id do well I think.
Yes. Check out our video about the Solo NY to LA and Atlantic to Pacific records. He is a truck driver too.
I like when people who arent really "car guys" tell car stories. I like when stories relate to cars, but arent "car stories".
I was a civilian working on base at Vandenberg Air force Base. The rocket launch complexes are many miles out into the base and speed limits are low and heavily enforced. I used to do the same thing. When the road would dip down below the plains I'd jump on the accelerator and when I popped back up I'd slow down.
I like your style.
Not really a car guy but I loves these videos!
Thank you. That is part of our goal here.
I fucking love this channel and all the stories these guys tell.
More quality content. Loving this.
Love this guys stories should get more from him lol
4:50 cop was like "My shift is almost over and I do not want this problem."
I love these videos, but if y’all keep putting the excuses on RUclips no cop will believe anything ever again. I’m gonna have to say my grandma is dying with tears running down my face to get out of a ticket

I have the 96 Impala SS and that thing is a monster
Konpeki my buddy bought but one just off A lease in high school he still has to this day in treated better than his wife LOL Beautiful car in black
Things are getting hard to find these days unmolested
This story was a good one.
That damn volvo though..👀
I want to do a Cannonball run but my 1947 CJ-2A Jeep only has a top speed of 55 miles an hour
Put a turbo on it
LSX Willys
Lol, Burt Reynolds and Dom Deluise already did that in Cannonball Run II
".....and that worked out great." LMAO
The second I seen the thumbnail for this I got an image of good ol’ Dom DeLuise with that whole outfit he was wearing in cannonball run!!
That cop that pulled you over was probably in the National guard or reserves.
I went Cross Country in a 1994 Dodge Caravan, Beat that
The Mojo FloJo Chronicles California to Iowa in an 89 bronco.
Mik from Cali sadly not. This bronco was a really nice navy blue with silver accents.
As soon as I saw the title I knew it was going to be good
This sound so fun until you get into hour 12
Nice, but the raised white letter tires don't look very official. Solid black wall tires all the way.
Seeing this awesome videos, makes me crazy to even ask 2 of my friends, fly from Portugal to NY buy a car and do the cannonball run route...

Golden Grenadier bahahahahha
Life imitates art, superb!

Caprice Classic. My first car, what a tank.
Terrapin beer is my favorite
Funny how the cop believed the part about wacky guys.
That sounds like a super trooper moment. Just a chp fucking with someone lol
I enjoy these car stories super entertaining
Thanks for watching. We will keep them coming!
NY-CA w/o a license plate? bold move
Swell vid. And Sharp ride!
Love this stories!!!!
I hope one of my junk cars gets used by someone with balls like this for cross country glory someday.
You guys need the emergency van replica that Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise drove in the cannonball run !!!!! CAPTAIN CHAOS!!!!!!! Dunnn duuunn dunnnnnn
Cops in towns near bases love to ticket military drivers. U.S. Government license plates are distinctive.
Where do I sign up to do a cannonball run with you guys? Seems like great fun
I really wanna do one of these runs in a few years when I can buy some horsepower other than my 328i lol
Evan's Garage a 328i has a decent power to weight ratio. It's a great car to drive, just make sure the coolant hoses are up to date
Should’ve got a 335 i miss mine badly
:Love the story....great!!
Great one
I'm tempted to do a cannonball run in the future.
How to win the Cannonball Run:
1) Get a police IROC Camaro
2) Restore it to working order/original paint (MAYBE upgrade)
3) Dress like Police
4) Win
and the fine/jail for impersonation if get caught
Police cars are by county. What are you going to do in a Florida car in Nebraska? Also, cops know what cars are on the road - they wont buy it.
Is there a cannon ball run with station wagons or mini vans
Not that we know of.
Oh yeah baby that is my car but all black love the Caprice
They need a 4 banger cannonball run
Cavaliers civics and accords only
David Stevenson so all the ricer hondas come out?lol
That would be an interesting twist.
They should put these videos into a podcast so I can download them to my phone and listen to them on my commute
Ya, i want to find an old 1 ton dually and used the entire bed as a fuel tank. Im sure i can make it in 1 run if nothing breaks.
What ever happened to the car? 94-96 Caprices & Impalas are my dream cars as a kid who grew up in the 90s. I actually think that olive green looked great on it btw.
The Roadmaster:)
It's amazing what a little bit of confidence can do for anybody hahaha.
that is awesome, funny as hell!!
*Cool car🌟
Millitary vehicles are outside local pd jurisdiction. Single or in a convoy.
Who would think you would get pulled over in the lest populated state
Cannonball Run 2?
love the story 💖💖💖
Love Caprices first car was one n my current car is one lol
I totally want to do this 2904 I’m a bonafide road warrior and have the picture to prove it
Here in the UK the Queens official car carries no number plate/tag just a crown were it should be. Unfortunately its also a one off. The old one was a standard car that enyone could buy. You definitely would not be stopped in that car.
Michael Walker doeant she drive jaguar wagon?
Luka čurkovič she and Prince Philip have a number of personal cars. But the official car carries no number plate. That would be the car to do a cannon ball run. But as I said its a one off.
Michael Walker I guess, but you would have to have so many policemen in front of your car to make it believeable
Why does he look like thanos😂😂
Not all cops are bad. Fun story.
Hah! Messing about in odd and/or dodgy cars must be an international experience as I deffo identify as a Brit with these stories..."We floored it in the dips and slooow when we got too the crest" - Hee Hee
Funnily enough we rarely get roads like that in England - The Romans started them straight and flat and humps were all fflattened out - we still got the twisties though!
Love to share a few beers with you guys - if you pay!...Take care
Funniest one yet :)
wish ya could still find a 9c1 for 1000$
In today's world, that car and maybe even your costumes and cash and equipment would have fallen under civil forfiture
An ice cream truck...you know..you have to get it there before it melts...
for a second i thought the car in the thumbnail was the Gavril Grand Marshall from BeamNG.drive lmao
Definately something I want to do. Except for the fake military vehicle. This one didn't even come close to getting it right
Invincible Extremes Muscle Cars Garage hop in line.
I live in CINCINNATI Ohio
Close your eyes and imagine Neil deGrasse Tyson talking!
Haha, brilliant story.
nice 👏👏👏 👍 😀 👏👏 and nice caprice
someone needs to run it in a old big rig. peterbuilt maby?
I would like to see more of the car and what all was done to it
