    Thanks for the advice! Just failed the poly with CBP for a marine interdiction agent position. The machine is a big hunk of junk that just puts your anxiety through the roof and the examiner definitely thought they were on to something smh. I know it’s pretty common to fail it so I most likely have to wait 2 years to reapply. Super bummed out lately and not sure if I will be in a position to apply again at that time. I’m a Coast Guard veteran so is working for the government again worth it? Idk, but the pay and benefits sure are nice! Anyway, good luck to CBP in finding other qualified candidates for that super specific niche role in Puerto Rico lol. Sometimes you just have to laugh.

      I agree. They started polygraphing everybody back in the early 90s. The event that precipitated the whole thing was that the FBI Agent assigned to the WH as background investigations coordinator wrote a book about how so many of the WH staff were admitted drug users, etc. Then our Administrator, Tom Constantine, started polygraphing applicants and all the other agencies followed suit.

      @@federallawenforcementcaree9900 interesting history lesson, thanks. The anti border corruption act has made it much worse as well, or so I'm told. No re-tests, etc..

    In my case, I made it through a state police academy on the first try but I didn’t pass probation due to some office politics
    It was heartbreaking but I’m now working for a different department that I love way more. It was a blessing in disguise. After I have 3 years at my current department, I’ll be applying for a federal LE job.
    Keep your head up. It’s never over

    I was fortunate to pass those entrance exams and get interviews with USSS and DEA right out of college . I interviewed multiple times with USSS and never got passed the interview for special agent . But for uniformed they sent me a CJO . I submitted everything and never heard back for 6 months and finally when i got a response they said i was not in the hiring pool. No formal email/ letter of rejection nothing lol
    DEA i interviewed and passed exam but never got to the PTA cause of an injury and then getting Covid on both occasions that were T my scheduled PTA. I applied to agencies within the intelligence community and thankfully got hired . Which i least expected 😂

    You are right you are going to have setbacks because right now I'm having setbacks with a lot of Department's. Do you have any advice about correctional officer. Because that will be my next step. Because I'm failing some of these tests. And thank you for the advice it really help because things are not going well for me so far.

      Many us marshals came from bop. And everything transferred leave, retirements ect. If you do state or local corrections nothing will transfer you pretty much start from 0 once you get hired by a federal agency

    out of the dea, fbi, and atf, which agency would you work for? and why?

    • @federallawenforcementcaree9900
      @federallawenforcementcaree9900  3 года назад +1

      Personally, I would work for DEA. My reasons are that I prefer enforcement work to desk work and FBI has an abundance of intel related national security type cases that do not result in arrests. The ATF is poorly funded and usually works best in a DEA or USMS Task Force.

    I attempted to apply to a few local agencies in my home state and permanently disqualified from being a police officer in said state.
    I spoke with a recruiter who wasn't aware that I was disqualified from the agency had told me that my social media presence had an influence on why I can't work as a police officer in my state. Does this mean I am doomed to work in federal law enforcement?
