- Hello again everyone. Recorded my next cover last night and it is now ready. Here is 'Dreamline' from Roll the Bones. This is one of the more popular songs from this era of Rush, and had been requested a few times but it wasn't one I was that fussed about so had planned to do other ones first when doing covers from Roll The Bones. However, my Rush tribute band wanted to give it a try so I learned the bassline in a bit more detail and (as is normally the case with Geddy's bass parts) my appreciation for the song definitely went up after playing it more.
As far as Geddy basslines go, it's quite straightforward but he did inject a little bit more funk into the middle section on some of the live albums, and I normally base my playing on the Different Stages version for this song. I am playing over the R30 version.
Planning on doing something early next since I haven't done anything from the first few albums for a while. Stay tuned!
Hope you enjoy this one! And as always thanks for watching my stuff

Definitely one of my favorites live in concert back in the day
Its grown on me as a live song. I think it has a better energy with the slightly heavier live sound. Thanks for watching!
Your tone is crushing
Thanks! Glad you like it
Absolutely fantastic!!!! Great job man!!!!

i love this song a lot awesome fender jazz bass
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Its a lovely bass :)
Well i have a new respect for this song now,
I feel the same way. I rate it higher now than I used to. Thanks for watching!
Great work! I love Geddy's lines that have a lot of that low E.
Thanks!
This is a banger
Thanks for watching!
That tone !
Thanks for watching!
Very nice, as usual! Only first heard this one recently. Just when I think I've heard so much of Rush's catalogue, another gem presents itself
Thanks. Yeah I often find a new appreciation for stuff that I didn't used to enjoy as much with Rush. The discography that keeps on giving :D
thats how i felt until i listened to all of them!
Killer tone as always!
Thanks! I like how this one came out tonally
Stellar
Thanks!
Love your videos. Great job capturing the live feel and tone. Killed it!
Thanks! Nothing better than live rush performances. Easy to be inspired haha. Glad you enjoy my videos
We missed you dude! What a track btw.

Finally a bass line by Geddy that I can play! 🤣@@hemibass

Best bassist on all of YT.
Thanks ken! Appreciate the compliment
Geddys favourite and I must admit proably mine. Amazing as always sir.
Thanks! Yeah he singled it out as one of his favourites which I found interesting since it's not very bass centric. Thanks for watching
I see a new Hemibass video appear, I click it! lol. Never disappoints. Great playthrough of this excellent R30 cut. Well done, as always, man!
Thanks for watching as always dude :) appreciate the support
your right hand technique is amazing! awesome cover, R30 Overture next?
Thanks. I was thinking about the R30 overture for this one actually! I kind of want to do those songs individually though haha
@@hemibass please do!
@@hemibass learn the individual songs and the special of the overture after you're done, maybe?
@@lithominium9955 yep thats a good idea. Just have to decide whether to do hemispheres prelude or the full 18 minutes haha
Let’s go big bro 🔥🔥 how long did take you to master the Geddy attack at voracious speeds?!
Thanks! I'm not sure really, I have been playing for almost 20 years and can't really remember how I used to play. I have always tried to copy geddy with regards to tone though. I think hitting the strings hard is just a necessary part of that!
Nicely done
You using roto 66s?
Thanks. Yeah about 5 hours of play on them when I recorded this. Thats normally the best time for them I find. Thanks for watching
Hey im curious how you are recording this stuff with the band?
I'm using moises which is a tool for isolating tracks from songs. Then im removing the bass and/or the synth track to record my cover. Thanks for watching
Love it bro. That is all.
Thanks! :)
