Once, me and my friends were at a mamak watching football. There were about 15 of us. We already know one of the worker there was good at memorising orders so we decided to test him. All 15 if us ordered at the same time, various food and drinks. We even changed seats after that but the worker came back with our food and drinks and delivered it to each of us without one single mistake! It was amazing! We all clapped our hands and cheered him for being so amazing 😂
No 1: You gotta respect food. As much as possible we should try to finish them all. If you can't, take it home and try to finish them later. All restaurants should be glad with this culture. It means that they don't have to deal with leftover foods and keep their garbage minimal.
My late grandma was quite strict when it come to food. She really hate seeing food got wasted. She lived through WW2. When I was small, she sometime tied me or my sister to the chair if we didn't finish our food.😅 I missed her very much, and her cooking too.
Hello Sunami - chan! We are glad you are enjoying your time here in Malaysia!! Remember to keep in mind Malaysia have great island such as Penang city Island and Langkawi!!!!
Ya, not until I went to other country, I also didn't realise only Malaysia clinic will give you the medicine after you see the doctor but in other country the clinic will give a paper with the medicines list/prescription and you have to buy it yourself at pharmacy.
I'm amazed by the complexity of the routes yet convenience of trains in Japan, but I always wonder how do they do groceries shopping and to bring them along in super packed trains. Malaysians mostly will shop like a whole trolley for groceries and drive a car/book grab to carry them all. Do Japanese rarely shop that much groceries or they probably have another shopping system that will deliver right to their door? On self orders restaurant however, I think japan has more self-order machines for restaurant and even a small shop will has a "vending machine" for ordering. Quite surprised when Sunami says otherwise.
Japan do have grocery delivery services. but most of the time they go to the physical store to shop and usually the stores are within walking distance.
Although Japan is considered an advanced country, deployment and acceptance of technology is far greater in Malaysia. It is in fact, quite on par with China in mobile payments. You can buy kangkong in the pasar with your TnG. You may not realize it, but not many countries have achieved this.
Malaysian always welcome Japanese..We respect the culture and i think Japanese also like the culture in Malaysia. We love Japanese and please bring more Japanese to Malaysia and retired here ❤️
Glad that Sunami-san feel confortable and enjoy the stay in Malaysia 😊😊 Yes i do agree of the 5 convenient things you mentioned in Malaysia. I always do take away but not really like to take away leftover food when cant finish in the restaurant as if feels like kinda wasting the food. I believe the reason why many people take Grab taxi as sometimes taxi in malaysia they also will do the same things what you mention in Japan as sometimes will go longer route to increase the fee or sometime just come one high amount of fee and thats why people use grab taxi as know the fee, estimate time arrived and the distance 😊😊 but i do like one things taxi in Japan the rear door can automatic open for convenient if someone hands is full 😊😊 hope this can put in taxi in malaysia too. Online banking in malaysia is kinda convenient but i rarely use as i feel that Malaysia bank security kinda need to be better on it and a lot of time makes me not really wanna use online banking. And i do hope Malaysia public transport to improve just like Japan where buses and train arrive on time and for train can travel other state with shorther time as there is some places on other state have not many train station. For travel long distance driving will be better in Malaysia as petrol, parking is reasonable price or sometimes and park on roadside too.
Of course we're a convenient country. I will always try to park my car no more than 10 steps away from the coffeeshop in Kuching, Sarawak. We have made convenience an art form here.
I'm surprised to learn from you that you guys don't have e-hailing ride companies operating in japan! In malaysia when grab first started, known as mytaxi originally, there were difficulties and obstacles to their presence, mostly from the conventional taxis who felt threatened about their business. I wonder if that's also making japan disallow such ehailing operators. As for disallowing clinics to prescribe medicines, there was talk in malaysia some time back to do the same, but I was among those who opposed such inconveniencing idea. If one has an elderly father, whenever he gets ill he has to drive to the clinic for check up, and then he has to drive to another place, has to find a suitable parking spot that isn't too far for him to walk since getting the 2 or 3 reserved spots right in front of the pharmacy would be tough since everyone now needs to go there, with all this taking lots of time while he is still feeling ill, and just to get the medicines which that clinic was the one who told him to get in the first place, such a crappy idea would have only come from somebody who did not think of others, but only picturing him/herself doing all this with a happy smiling face walking from one place to another, in the picture he/she forgets to include what if it's crappy weather which isn't uncommon at all, and even what if the illness is more severe and he/she is very weak to walk or drive! Unbelievable. The clinics can easily be controlled by setting ceiling prices on their selling prices, and by regular field checks!
1. I would say the bungkus custom is really like, the most convenient thing ever lol. This one is not in Japan but in Dubai actually. I was trying to take away my leftovers and asked the waitress but unfortunately no food can be taken away. When I was at Japan too, I went to this one shop and did intend to take away, でも見たからにはなんかbungkusできない封印気感じをして、やめた😅 The bungkus style depends on the shop. Some can use plastic, some use wrappers, or food containers etc 2. Grab is convenient as well, but it's actually pricey in our view as local haha. I usually hesitate if want to use it and if I REALLY need it, I'll try my best to find anyone to ride with me. And if I don't have any options left, I had to use Grab then. 3. なるほど。I guess there are reasons for Japan's pharmacy and clinic being separated. 4. Online banking can give charge sometimes (I don't know in what occasion) but it's only 50 cent I think. 5. It's the opposite for me 😂オンラインメニューあまり好きじゃないな。メニューに質問があったら、いちいち声をかけ必要がって、めちゃくちゃ不便ですね。昔に戻りたい :') It's just for me personally though
Tbh grab is reasonably priced. Even cheaper than normal taxi. Probably if you want cheaper option is to take the bus or train, unfortunately Malaysia public transport accessibility (feeder system) is not really well developed.
Well, if among the e-Hailing services in Malaysia, then Yes, Grab is a bit pricey. But still cheaper than conventional taxi. Now even some regular taxi drivers use Grab(and other e-Hailing) for their taxi service.

hi sunami-san,i really like bout the medical thing you mentioned about.. if i may ask, is the pharmacy in japan didnt own by the goverment?..since you said over-prescribed for their profit.. like in malaysia, we have the goverment clinic/hospital co-existing private healthcare system , but the pharmacy also owned (usually in the same building) , in the pharmacy (its outside the clinic/hopsital in japan) you mentioned, is the clinic/hospital didnt run by the govement?..since mostly medical drug from the gov clinic are part universal healthcare system ..
My Japanese teacher told me the Japanese medical system changed 20-30 years ago so that hospitals and clinics can't sell medicines to patients. It's a good thing because otherwise, the government wastes a lot of money on unnecessary bills.
