Beautiful love (take 2) always in my head.
I've been looking for a tutorial of this song for a long time, but never complete.

In turn I’ve wanted to see coverage of the first take for years but it seems to be the black sheep of the two versions for some reason, which is really unfortunate considering it’s my preferred one :(

@@Smoothaltheleet It's the black sheep because take 2 was the one that was actually released. Take 1 was only released as a bonus on CD years later.

Sebastian Schweigert I see! I honestly didn’t know that but then that explains it. Thanks for the new bit of knowledge!

Can we say the Bb in the 3rd measure (4:20) is because he is using an harmonic minor scale rather than a melodic minor scale ?
Awesome videos, as are all of them (at last all I watched :-)). The videos about bebop and playing chord tones on down beats have been a kind of revelation for me, unstucking a lot of things in my playing and probably first in my brain. I never have had such a concise and clear explanation that brings a real change in my playing, definitively more jazz now. I just now need 50 years of practice :-D
    Thanks again !

Hi Victor: thanks for the inspiring comment! Indeed, jazz is a lifetime study! As to your question about the Bb in measure 3, he's actually just using the natural minor scale there. Hope this helps!

Personal opinion - too much "explaining" and not enough playing. We can get it without the narrative. But thank you.

If you are clever enough to get it without the "narrative", then I fail to understand why you are here in the first place ? Can´t you just listen to the Bill Evans recording if you only want "playing" ? He is not here to perform the tune, he is trying to instruct people, hence the analysis, hence the extended explanation, because that is the nature of tutorials. Perhaps you are missing the point ?
