  • A Detroit City Councilman is proposing an ordinance that would require restaurants in the city to display placards if they passed their health inspections. Councilman Scott Benson said the goal is to make the Detroit dining experience a pleasant and safe one. Here's how the proposed ordinance works. If a Detroit restaurant passes its health inspection, they will get a green placard in their restaurant.

My favorite restaurant in Los Angeles has a "C" grade posted next to the front door, and it's packed all the time!

Why is this not standard!? With how much you're spending at some of these places, yeah, they at least owe you a little bit of transparency.

T.D.W.P.; Completely agreed. After all; transparency = safety (especially RE: health).

Sure! What is there to hide? It’s all a part of good service! And display there Safe Serve that is earned and current.

Well if they're hiding it then the hygiene of the restaurant is what's to hide. If you get an A I'm sure you're going to put that thing right in the window! It's if you get a D or an F that you want to hide it.

    Every state should require this!

Every restaurant in my city is Required to do so, and that includes _any_ place that serves any kind of food. (not exactly sure about hospitals, but I would hope so). And the local news tells of scores of recently inspected eateries.

Have you seen what food preparation in the third world looks like? You're complaining about the food you are served not being filled with bacteria? How about you shut up?
