Rodney King was acquitted because the DA did a horrible job. The defense tried to show that many of the actions of the police were proper police work ( there were many). The Da instead of saying ‘ yup there were actions that were correct, BUT that doesn’t excuse the actions that weren’t’. Nope the DA tried to show that those actions weren’t correct and forgot about the beating. The focus turned to ‘ is striking the shin correct’. People today still do this. Focus on the crime and not the other stuff. A person can do everything right except one thing and be a criminal.

So Australia still doesn't understand that Norman was right? Interesting.
The majority of Australians acknowledge that Peter Norman was a hero and stood for what was right. He was offered a public apology by the Australian parliament in 2010 (unfortunately Peter died in 2006) and is today held in very high esteem.
The blame lay squarely at the feet of the Australian Olympic Committee who have never apologised and should be condemned for their actions.
Rest assured that Australia stands strongly behind Peter and are very proud of his actions.
@@AnalogueBliss That's nice to hear.
@@rssphllps Are you sure that you didn't READ it...?! Or are you hearing 'those voices' again, perchance?!
@@lavielemond This is from Cambridge dictionary
"If you hear from someone, you get a letter, email, or phone call from that person, or that person tells you something:"
@@rssphllps Man, I often laugh (otherwise I'll cry re: what has come of the world by this stage but particularly over the past couple of decades - is it mere coincidence that the timing matches precisely with the advent, followed closely by the utter ubiquity, of social media? I think not) at so much that is included within the once-respectable 'foremost dictionaries' nowadays, thanks primarily to either the slang/acronyms used in social media/text messages, or all manner of (primarily but not exclusively) 'word butchers' from the US...'strength' in numbers alone, I guess...
Anyway, I was (for the most part) merely taking the proverbial piss (while very bored & unable to sleep) when I sent you my msg but seeing as though you took the time to respond & did so in a respectful manner, I'll merely state that from my perspective, to "hear" something involves 'verbal' & 'aural' elements, whereas to "read" something involves 'written' & 'visual' elements...mind you, I'd be lying if I categorically stated that I've not also written "good to hear" in response (I must have, at some stage, surely...?!) to something that I've merely read & thus it was hypocritical & stupid of me to have written what I wrote to you...& for this I am sorry & I duly apologise.
Wow, what a ridiculously rambling twat I am today, eh?! I must apologise to you (once again) for what probably comes across as the YT equivalent of a freaking 'thesis' from a narcissistic nutter from 'Down Under'...cheers & best wishes to you, mate...Matt.
About that 2nd to last photo, the raising of the American Flag at Iwo Jima, for anyone interested but not yet familiar, may I recommend a song? It's called "The Ballad of Ira Hayes" by a young Bob Dylan. The end lyrics may bring tears. I first heard it long before I knew who Ira Hayes was or even if he was a real person. Many years later. I realized the song was a true story, a very sad one.
To say Norman is a hero is an insult to hero’s.
The general had a pizza shop in Fairfax Co., Virginia not in DC.

How could anyone blame Holiday? I respect him for putting out the truth like wtf? He was brave to go against the government. Thank God he did. He contributed to furthering equality. Mad respect. That's just to bad...

You showed the NZ flag on the Norman story guys . . . NZ would have embraced him . . . Cheers
Australia has never had the best track record when it came to racial equality.

Unlike models of today, she was not born into fame or wealth? Really? Models come from rich and famous families typically these days? Hello? As usual in this type of content, the 'writing' is idiotic.
On the side ; all of the flowers used in the pre Rapaelite painting had specific meanings at the time. What the model suffered was probably worth it for her. Life expectancy short. I have to assume she received more money than she could ever have hoped for otherwise. Harsh times to say the least for poor people.
Artists aren't well-known for paying their models well, are they?
She received immortality.
Norman, Mohammed Ali and Novak Djokovic. Respect for their sacrifice for theirs principles.

Saw a clip by Rush Limbaugh that showed King attacking the cops non stop. High on a drug that made it impossible to feel pain. Is that true?
I've never heard about that part, but that doesn't surprise me nowadays. So those cops might only have been guilty of excessive force. 🤔

The problem is not the photos, the problem has always been what the ignorant yet rabid beast, the public opinion, makes out of it.
Perhaps a good miss with Weiner!
Can we imagine this guy as a world leader, the name does not conjure up confidence, and can we imagine for a moment only, the name of President Weiner. Not quite the same ring as Lincoln, Washington or Adams. Maybe the photo error was a good thing, imagine what errors could have been made as President!
The chopper pilots who put an end to the My Lai massacre received death threats upon their return to the US.
Kathy Griffin's epic FAIL.
If you're going to feature Australia prominently in a segment, together with a flag, at least take the trouble to use the correct flag - not New Zealand's.
good one , can't even get the Australian flag right , you display the New Zealand flag !

Saigon Execution from Wiki: "In 2008, a new version appeared, in which Lém had murdered the family of Lieutenant Colonel Nguyễn Tuấn, who was not a subordinate of General Loan but an officer in the armored forces of the ARVN.[22] Vietnam war historian Edwin E. Moïse believes that story is South Vietnamese propaganda, noting the later stories about Lém's actions were not part of Loan's initial explanations. Noting this position, historian Max Hastings said "the truth will never be known".[23][24] A similar skeptical assessment was made by researcher Christopher Saunders." Btw: Loan continued fighting until wounded and escaped to the US.
I don't think Griffin is ruined forever....
Well, maybe.
I’m sure Ms Iraq was fine not going home to that country.
Number 6, you showed the New Zealand flag, instead of the Australian flag. Get it right.
New Zealand is a state in Australia.
Wasn't the raising of the flag picture a set up, the photographer wasn't there at the first time it was raised so they had to do it again.
Why 2 photos of same thing 1 is ok to show other ruins a mans life, explain this thinking to me because i just cant grasp the fact this actually happened.
boring
I feel for the guy who got flack for videoing Rodney King. Its so common today to film police doing bad stuff, and we applaud those who do.
No such thing as photos of you in the 1700s. This is YT fantasy
I remember when. That happened, and the roof top Koreans.
Griffin will rot in hell for that one act.

Kathy Griffin deserves every bit and more.
So the way a guy eats subjected him to villainy!? Omg! I’m an ugly eater too! Glad that hasn’t hurt my position in business!! Lmbo❤
Oh Tracy, judging by your 1970's aesthetic in your bio' photo, I've very little doubt that even when you're not gormandising, you're anything but physically attractive, my dear...
Ira Hayes has a song by Johnny Cash. It's the name call him drunken Iraqis. He won't answer anymore, not the whiskey.Drink an indian or the marine that went to war. Sadly, Iraqis died in a 2 inch puddle of water, literally drowned drunk. He could not move many drowned and 2 inches of water and true to the narrator he did not want fame or fortune. He felt really guilty about leaving his Fellow soldiers rest in peace Ira. 😢
You might want to edit your post to make it a) a little more legible & b) more faithful to historical accuracy, my friend! You see, where you've written Ira, you've allowed your ridiculous 'spell-check' to alter Ira to Iraqis!! For example, you've mistakenly written "drunken Iraqis" & "Iraqis died in a 2 inch puddle of water"...
THANK YOU... I was wondering, did i miss something?@lavielemond
I'm a lefty, I'm also repulsed by Trump and believe in the 1st amendment, but what Kathy Griffin went over the line.
Boo friggin hoo kathy griffin.. no one cared for her before, no one cares now. That backlash was probably the most attention she'd ever gotten. Cant stand that woman.
The australian civil rights guy.. is he still alive? There should be like a retroactive.. somtlething for him. His support for a cause that almost everyone now is on board with kept him from being in the olympics, shamed him, ruined his career, possibly life.. that just seems crazy. Im sure it has happened a lot throughout history. But i don't know those stories lol. Im just saying there should be some kind of nod to the fact that he stood up for what was right even when it harmed him. Being on the right side of history has a way of doing that to people though i guess. I didn't actually know a lot of those stories. That was really interesting. Finally a random youtube channel suggestion i like! Lol subscribed.
