That year they're talking about Liverpool getting relegated when Roy Hodgson was manager are not the same. We were in the bottom 3 after 9 games, in October. We were back to 9th by January but Hodgson got the sack and after Kenny took over we finished 6th. This United team have no chance of recovering to that extent.
@@Abdullargh Yeah, god forbid we complain the ManU soap opera and the transfer window soap opera suck all the air out of coverage of actual football. The problem with Trent leaving is that he’s leaving to a European rival who have taken 2/3 UCLs from us in recent times. It’s nothing like van dijk going from Southampton to Liverpool lol, it’s a step sideways to Madrid at the moment but la liga is engineered to help them in Europe
Club ELO rates RM below Liverpool atm (Liverpool top of the tree, incidentally), so a step down and into a circus. And TAA had a lot to do with RM taking a CL from us, not quite Karius levels, but close and he wasn't hit over the head.
@@Do27gg It really isn't any different than signing for Man City, just a euro rival rather than a domestic one. The issue is not going RM , for any or all of; new challenge, money, or more fame. If we’re just honest about it, fans would be far more understanding. The fee is also part of it. TAA could easily have signed. 1 year extension with a special , say 40M RM buyout clause any time this year or last if he wants RM. That would have allowed them to come and get him at a reasonable fee after this year while also allowing him to see this year’s EPL and CL runs out for LIV. Everyone exits reasonably content.
What none of these supposed experts mention is that TAA refused to sign a 6 year contract last time he extended and insisted on 4 years. So this "it's the club's fault it's gotten to this stage" thing is nonsense. TAA's camp specifically engineered this situation while we were covering for his inadequacies and whole throwaway seasons because he was "the scouser in the team" and we were promised he'd reach his supposed potential and be brilliant for us in his prime.
That was the world record fee at the time as well for a defender, iirc. So'ton decided to play the offended party at the last minute that summer because their fans were sick of us signing their players (all for more than fair money) despite that being So'ton's business model. We didn't ask VVD to engineer a free or pretend to be injured to force a move, however p-ssed off he was because So'ton torpedoed a summer deal, he knuckled down and played 100% until January and we paid extra to get it done. Also, frankly, comparing So'ton to Liverpool is a bit strange. The thing is, we're not bothered RM want one of our players. We're also not *that* miffed they're doing what they do - unsettling the player, Marca printing rubbish etc - it's RM, everyone knows that circus of a club does this. We're upset with TAA engineering a free to a club we lost 2 CL finals to, one of which he very much helped them with because he couldn't bother to work on his defending until this year when a move to RM hoved into view.

@DieHard_CZ Yes but Slot shows his maturity in his tactical approach. Amorim honestly thinks a 343 is going to work even though we don't have any of the specialist players it requires. It's embarrassing watching our team at the moment. We need someone who understands the game better.
