I've always appreciated the work of a machinist since both of my parents were in similar businesses...it seems like an art that is perfected over time and they absolutely make it look much easier than it really is to create out of hunks of metal, something that will work, work right and be durable and impressionable...give those folks a raise! : )
I can remember back in the early 80's asking both Dynatrac and Currie about putting a full floater 60 in the back of a 79 bronco, they both asked why would you want to do that? So I did it myself, I did a hybrid 44F (Tracloc) front 8 bolt conversion and added discs to the rear (Detroit Locker)..
This is why I taught myself to setup my own axles. There is no way around the labor involved with setup......rather learn to do it myself than pay someone to spend hours setting shims, bearings and lash. Much pride from 10 years of crawling on 44's I did on my own.
How'd you learn? I've been slowly acquiring tools as I work on my Cherokee. I'm getting to the point now where re-gearing etc. would be a very handy thing to learn.
You can really see the quality of this product as its being built. One day I hope to have a couple Dynatrac's under my JK. Thanks for producing yet another great video...
I was always told not to put grease on a bearing that will be in an oil bath (pinion), It seem like it wouldn't matter but I've been chastised by mechanics for even suggesting it, but I see you guys do it. Awesome video. Even more awesome axles.
I noticed that too as I have always packed bearings on Class 8 trucks. A lot of guys freak out over it, then again I have never had comebacks from burned up bearings, they have.
You know what I find cool . The machines there using . Just goes to show Grab an old Bridgeport with a proto track a lebond , monarch , rockford lathe and go to town . Nothing here was to horrible hard to do . Great work .
Rubicat was always my fave! I know she's in good hands with her new owners and looking forward to seeing her up close now that she's a regular at my playground of choice, Rausch Creek!
Holy mother of all axle shafts!!! Uber cool video as usual.... Number one fan here and I don't even drive a Jeep, but I do love all things four wheel drive with loose nuts behind the wheel. Anxiously awaiting your next effort.
Haha I learned something from this video, aside of how the axle is built. I had thought of using a plastic spatula to fill the hub with grease! Looks so much easier than and cleaner than using my hands..
im a new jeep owner, and i just cant believe how much money everything costs for jeeps! Its like buying parts for my harley... only twice as much. Awesome video and even awesomer axels!! im now subscribed!
LIKED! and had SUBSCRIBED years ago. I really enjoy the voice over and explanation - I'm not literally going to build one myself but great to see the engineering and craftsmanship going into the product. See ya on the tail.
Parabéns pelo o belo trabalho de vocês. Que constrói. Toda estas peças de carros.lindo trabalho de todas.parabeéns. um abraço do Brasil. A todos os trabalhadores.
Very very nice video Eddie. Its soo expensive to get those axles here in South Africa, most of us are still running stock 44's with 37's. Going to 40's isnt really an option on stock axles here.
we have some guys here that have done V8 Hemi conversions, even one to a Lexus V8. The 3.8 at this altitude suffers. I dont need D80's but a Dana 60 or even a pro Rock 44 would be great.
The quality of the work is impressive, and I would surely like to have one, but I am afraid its just not in the budget, my rig will have to make do with a salvaged Dana 80 and a few upgrades...
Thanks for the videos, love you channel.. 1. 1:11, I love that Dynatrac is using Joe regular guy (Matt) for their public face, seen him on a few related videos and wow.... Super Star.... 2. In a few of your videos i always wonder what you did to the suspension of your vehicle, but I can't find your video on this.. Can you post the link? 3. 80's, I was thinking 60's would be enough, wish you had launched into a discussion why you chose the 80 over the 60 ( yeah, its a more resilient axle, but why not a 60? was the price point rather close and so just splurge to get better? 4. 4:40 What is a Levalever/LebaLever(?) system, I could not find that term on Google
James Lowell they sure are bullet proof , but 90% of all those people who put them on their Jeep's , drive on paved roads to Walmart grocery shopping , that's as much of a harsh use they ever see. :) just like those LED light bars they on the trucks but we all use them once in a blue moon
I gave you a thumbs up for asking the question that I wanted to ask.. However, I think it might be so they can quickly take off any brakets they don't need or have to adjust slightly.
with coil spring you cannot adjust the angle of the pinion otherwise your brackets all move on the axle they are tacked on so you can make the adjustment to your jeep because of varying lifts and weld them on when your done
It's because he's installing an evolever coilover suspension and he would have to cut all the brackets of anyways. no point in fully welding something just to cut it off afterwards.
Love your guys videos, especially with the Jk experience ones. Why do some of them get flagged within youtube? I could watch like 2 out of the 4 or 5 videos of one of your last posts.
Most dont know whats involved in setting up a good diff. Ring and pinion alone can take hours. If you dont have over sized bearings to set up shims its a nightmare. Ide hate to see the bill. I bought currie 9s front and rear for my cj 20yrs ago and spent more than i paid for the jeep but its nice to fix a problem once and for all. It would take serious abuse to break a dyna 80.
I understand the need to coat components with grease to prevent rust before use with oil. Kind of like assembly lube on an engine. But it looked like those hubs were getting packed with grease for permanent use similar to a front hub. I'm just curious why so much grease when the oil fills the hubs anyways?
The reason I ask is because My full floating dana 80 in my pick up truck has oil filled hubs that are supplied from the diff. There is zero grease in the aam 11.5 hubs in my other truck as well So is the grease for off road purpose only due to the axle being put at such steep angles or are they using excess for prelube.
Glenn Sibay interesting observation. No machining on axles for a seal so I guess the o-ring seal from axle to hub, then the outer and inner hub to spindle bearing seals are all in the path to the parking brakes. Not a floating axle expert but I bet Pro-Rock is emulating the design norm (or better).
awesome team of workers building a great product - well, it looks great - i dont actually own one. I'm concerned for Ashton, he is acid washing the axles with no gloves or eye protection on....... when he goes blind, I'll come work for you guys if ya give me a deal on the axles..... Great video (and yeah, i'll wear PPE)

Any one that watches this Vid. and most important understands highly trained people and high quality materials not to mention the labor that went into this product will NOT bitch about price.
When you put the pinion in the lathe to turn its shaft you just slung it in a 3 jaw ? Wouldnt you be concerned about concentricity with the pininon gear seems it wasnt clocked ?
Seriously the production quality of your videos gets better with each new video! Keep up the great work!
Thank you.

the precision and man hours involved in assembling is staggering. Great to see a "How its made" for jeep upgrades. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love all the old school machinist talent and manual assembly skill set!

Whole lot of labor that goes into one of those. Always nice to see products that are 100% made and assembled in the USA.

Holy crap!! Lol....I’d never break something that strong...! What a build!!
I have never seen anyone take so much effort into there product !!!! Thanks !!!!
probably the best setup to run on any 4x4... overbuilt with maximum clearance i like it very much
The music after 3:45 is perfect, it was like watching an episode of How it's made! I have no idea why I'm watching this either, ruined my nap lol
LOL - so glad you enjoyed it :)
Production quality and voice over is like an episode of how its made. Haha
Looking forward to putting one of these with the 60XD on my JL
LOL - so glad you enjoyed it :)
You can really see the quality of this product as its being built. One day I hope to have a couple Dynatrac's under my JK. Thanks for producing yet another great video...
Designed, made and assembled here in the USA. You really do get what you pay for when you get a Dynatrac ProRock axle!
I was always told not to put grease on a bearing that will be in an oil bath (pinion),

sure is a beautiful thing to watch how its done with all the right tools and equipment! nice work!

This is amazing craftsmanship! It's a lost art, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing!

Handmade in the USA! Love the video.
What a strong looking axle...!! Thanks for the video tour Eddy...!
I missed your videos! Don't go on a hiatus again!
We'll try harder to stay on top of things.
What an awesome video I want a Dynatrack axle. I love the quality and craftsmanship.
Truly a work of mechanical art, a real beauty, nothing beats MADE IN AMERICA !
That is so sweet! I don't even own a jeep but a FZJ 80 Landcruiser. Really happy to see you making more videos again.
Thank you, we have every intension of making more.

Jeeps, Tools and Machines, Oh My! Love the video Sir!
Pantas saja harganya mahal banget, sebanding lah sama kwalitas dan cara pengerjaannya....most power prorock.👍👍👍
Impressive. Looks like it can take a beating.
Thanks for showing me ,now I can go ahead and build one, right?
Think I'd let you guys do that!
Hand made in the USA, that's what I fought for. Great job, great video!
Jaime Nieto you were alive when we battled the British?
Nice review of the process. Great product ! Maybe drill and tap the air lock hole before the assembly goes to the final wash and paint process.
I was sold on this jeep when I saw the 6.2 emblem booyah👍👍

Very very nice video Eddie. Its soo expensive to get those axles here in South Africa, most of us are still running stock 44's with 37's. Going to 40's isnt really an option on stock axles here.
An axle like this is really meant for guys running really big tires and with really big horse power.
we have some guys here that have done V8 Hemi conversions, even one to a Lexus V8. The 3.8 at this altitude suffers. I dont need D80's but a Dana 60 or even a pro Rock 44 would be great.
Those very impressive axles! Great idea showing how they are built. First class!
Dynatrac makes amazing axles!
Awesome video Eddie! Thanks sir... I agree your videos just keep getting better and better! Keep up the great work.

Those Red Threadlock are a devil's advocate. If you don't heat em up real good they won't come lose.
Wow is really great how it's done video!
it is easy to see that they are professional.
they are fast, very accurate and on them.
Excellent craftsmanship.
Wow!! Thank you for this great video.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Was waiting for someone at the end to be like "aaaaaaand that'll be 8 grand."
I agree, for as much as I'd pay for one of these axles, I could do a lot to my vehicle, but I know for a fact that these axles are worth every penny
James Lowell they sure are bullet proof , but 90% of all those people who put them on their Jeep's , drive on paved roads to Walmart grocery shopping , that's as much of a harsh use they ever see. :)
just like those LED light bars they on the trucks but we all use them once in a blue moon
James Lowell your probably not that far off! Lol!
James Lowell A little more than 8 grand probably haha
0% of people that buy these are mall queens. those assholes just run 40s on stock axles.
That is amazing. Thank you
Класс! Работа профессионалов! Жаль у нас Сибири такие не делают.
Epic vid.
This is the kind of axle Toyota should be putting in LandCruisers.
are most E-brakes drum brakes? that was awesome to see how e-brakes are designed to live inside of one of the disk brakes.
No, not all but this is one design you will see on most SUV's or heavier beefier vehicles. The brake rotors and brake drums are all one the same.
Really very well done.
Thank you :)
Incredible craftsmanship. Real work of art when they're done with it, probably $7,000 an Axle though which puts them Way Out Of Reach For Me 😟😭😭
I would like to put these Dynatrac 80's on my Jeep Wrangler TJ
Wow. Time flies.
LOL - hard to believe for sure!
@@wayalife I remember watching this during work the day y'all posted it. :O
I could not understand why the Jeep wrangler attachment points were only tack welded in... why not full welds? 4:40 min:sec..
what is a leba lever system?
I gave you a thumbs up for asking the question that I wanted to ask..
However, I think it might be so they can quickly take off any brakets they don't need or have to adjust slightly.
Paul Gdry He's saying "EvoLever" which is Offroad Evolution's rear cantilever setup.
with coil spring you cannot adjust the angle of the pinion otherwise your brackets all move on the axle they are tacked on so you can make the adjustment to your jeep because of varying lifts and weld them on when your done
It's because he's installing an evolever coilover suspension and he would have to cut all the brackets of anyways. no point in fully welding something just to cut it off afterwards.
awesome video with lots of good details, but what exactly is "high clearance" about this axle
Were they using molybdenum based grease on roller bearings? Highly not recommended on high speed roller bearings due to skidding issues..?
On the pinion gear etc
Que buenas forma de laburar un espetaculo para el materiañ y la dedicacion que le pone la gente un abrazo
What is the song that starts at 5:39? I've tried Shazam and searching the comments but got nothing and it's driving me nuts!
I would love to build those axles every day
Amazing work..Thanks for uploading ...please more vedio..
Why weren't the spindles rosette welded into the tubes?
Love your guys videos, especially with the Jk experience ones. Why do some of them get flagged within youtube? I could watch like 2 out of the 4 or 5 videos of one of your last posts.
Surely it will conquer rocks!

okey doky Gear oil doesn't fill into the Hubs.

I would do so many things I would not be proud of if I had the skills to build one of these
11Twiztid. Like?
wow drum and disc brake in one axle? thats cool
It's a disc brake - the drum is for the emergency brake shoes.
most stock jeeps come with this setup? atleast my 05 with the dana 44 does
