Keine's theme. ...I appreciate Keine's unique tone as a teacher and a trusted protector of her human students, despite being only half-human herself. Her ability to create and erase history is a really cool one that can offer an interesting perspective on the entire concept of truth and reality. The way a story is told, and which parts of it are revealed or concealed, truly does affect the reality going forward.
A line I'd like to single out is the one that says "bird, bug, beast" -- that is, the first three bosses of Imperishable Night. In the Studio Ghibli movie "The Tale of Princess Kaguya," based on the same legend that inspired the game, the protagonist sings an important song that speaks to the diversity of life on earth by using these words, "birds, bugs, beasts." I instantly fell in love with the coincidence(?) and wanted to reference it somewhere in IN lyrics. Keine's awareness of this diversity, and of the role of both humans and beasts, made her a good opportunity.

Well basically yes. But it doesnt remove the past, only the texts relating to the past. An example of how this can be used is rewrote the president's of a country.
@@salardalukeandrei5269 your close, but her power does literally remove the past. On full moons Keine removes the history of the human village, temporarially erasing it from existence, and then when the sun rises she restores it.

I like people
this character seems to be a representation of "blind trust" as the humans fear the youkai. A few lines represent this like "whether it is false or true, the truth is what is consumed". Because it is written in law and because some like her followed it. The people of Gensokyo starts to follow those "laws" without questioning them. This is just my opinion and i may be wrong.
I believe that's the beauty of the lyrics in the first place. Gensokyo is pretty amazing for how it's such a creative goldmine, yet I also remember that the setting of Gensokyo is quite literally keeping humans in a medieval Japan era so that Youkai and things of fantasy can continue to thrive. So that the Ecosystem of Youkai and Humans don't kill each other off their little Danmaku game was set in place. Where the Youkai make trouble and the Incident Solvers well, solve it. Then again things have quite escalated since then in the recent Touhou games.
@@honeychonav4027 A related fun fact, but the Spellcard rules weren't originally a thing. In fact, it's highly likely that they were invented During Reimu's time as Hakurei Shrine Maiden, making them incredibly modern by Gensokyo's standards.
In PMiSS, Reimu's section has a mention of several incidents, those of Touhou 6, 7, 8 and 9... And then the "Vampire Incident", which was caused by the same culprit as the Scarlet Mist incident (From Touhou 6: EoSD), which would be Remilia Scarlet.
Essentially, Remi came in, and convinced a bunch of Youkai to work for her. She was eventually stopped by "The strongest Youkai", who then limited what Remi was allowed to do.
A bunch of other Youkai felt that those terms were unfair, and discussed alternative solutions with the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, who agreed. Because, to quote PMiSS "The shrine maiden, who was also tiring of an uneventful lifestyle, agreed to the youkai point of view that some battles were necessary."
Considering that this is all being recorded by Akyuu, this incident almost certainly happened *after* Akyuu's previous death, and is being recorded either from firsthand knowledge, or from Reimu herself, which implies that it is fairly recent.
Furthermore, the Scarlet Mist incident (From EoSD) is said to be the first incident after implementation of the spellcard rules, so either Reimu was shrine maiden during the incident, or it was the last incident of the previous shrine maiden, and EoSD was Reimu's first incident. Regardless, this incident was most likely quite recent, making spellcards quite a recent development.

I really liked your Keine voice! And this song explores some really interesting themes, too; choosing what aspects of history we remember and pass on to the next generation has a huge effect on the future. Even on a smaller scale, whenever someone gives us advice based on their experience, or what they took away from their experience, we're learning a lesson from the past, so to speak. This cover also has a lot of really nice lines. In particular, the part about the truth being "consumed" has a nice double meaning. Well done!

God. I absolutely love Keine’s theme and as a character, and I love all the little details you put in the lyrics and the video, Keine’s voice, ALL OF IT!
Lesson summary: The way you’re able to put so much of each character into their 90-second-to-two-minute loop of a theme is really impressive. Keep it up! I can’t wait to see (or hear) whatever comes next!

It is unpitched! Her normal voice is me unpitched high, and her beast harmonies are me unpitched low.

I went through a lot of testing as to what voice I thought would be most appropriate for Keine. Usually, more mature and serious characters give me the impression of a deeper voice by default. But Eirin already covered that niche among the IN cast. So I thought a higher voice, decisive but gentle, could also work for Keine's somewhat mom-like vibe. And it just came out best at this pitch; otherwise it came out either too low or too high.

I'll be honest. Plain Asia just may be my least favorite Touhou Boss theme. Doesn't mean it's bad though. Hearing these amazing vocals with it make me want to listen to it a lot, that's for sure.

^^; No -- I believe the wikia was recently mass-vandalized, some of it with good intent and some bad.
Mokou and Keine are canonically friends, but not girlfriends. There is a chapter in an official book where they discuss Mokou's history together, and Mokou calls Keine someone she trusts to understand her. I personally imagine Keine as a protective mom-like friend and confidante. In the Extra Stage, I think Keine is eager to help defend Mokou as part of her attitude of protecting humans in general (as expressed in these lyrics), and it's meaningful that she still views Mokou as "human" despite her immortality situation.
...That said, on this channel we ship Mokou x Kaguya. 👏 The two "Hourai victims" designed as opposite counterparts, both aesthetically and in their attitudes toward immortality. Kaguya is the most important person who shaped Mokou's past (which she talked about through that aforementioned chapter with Keine), and in the same book, Mokou has a cute tsundere moment of panicking over the idea of Kaguya returning to the moon, admitting that she does value her presence. They may fight with each other, but that's a unique form of communication that only the immortals can share. And they have infinite time to rethink the true nature of their relationship, each other the only person who will be there with them at the end of the world.

However, that been said, I dislike the talking part.... Not all, but just those that's plain talk and not to the rhythm of the music. This is just my personal opinion tho.

Honestly, I think there is a timeless quality about the setting and the characters, in contrast to other media that aims for current trends and waifu-of-the-week appeal. Most importantly, the series' firm roots in "doujin culture" continue to encourage the proliferation of derivative work. May it never die!
