The best part of being the oldest brother was "helping" my younger brother or sister and actually just hijacking their turn, but it was their save/town/park/sim family, so as long as I was able to convince them that everything was helping them get ahead there would be no complaints.

Loved it. Like Shayne, I used to play "normally" but whenever my sister was around, we tortured our guests a lot. At some point, we put an angry guest on a square with an entertainer where he only had access to a free soda shop and a 10$ bathroom...
It took them all of 33 minutes to make a prison with a $100 pee charge. Truly, they are visionaries.
Trevor needs to understand that the people in Rollercoaster Tycoon have no concept of saving money. They will buy a map for $5. They will pay to go to the bathroom. These little things that seem insignificant in real life make money in this game.
And they buy umbrellas for $20 when it rains, a major moneymaker in RCT 1 and 2

Also u can oversalt the food so they need to buy a drink, overcoffinate the drink so they need bathroom and repeat!
The park has a great safety record. None of the people died in the park, only in outer space.

I remember that you wanted to place rollercoasters on the edge of the park specifically so the passengers would be deposited outside of the boundary when they were ejected from the track so they never died IN the park. Think there was one where parks were next to each other and you could make the deaths count for the park next door this way too 😂

Trevor is nowhere near funny enough to be straight equivalent to Tommy like bfr. He's also way too annoying and immature
The developer of this and Transport Tycoon is a legend. He programmed this in Assembler, hand optimized every function of the game using every Intel processor trick. That's why this thing ran so fast even on the oldest trash PCs. The level of detail and micromanagement you can do is far beyond anything current games do.

Fr like playing this game as a kid made me get cocky and think that my grandma’s old computer could run anything 😅but nothing ever ran like this did. Dev is a legend for sure.

Amazing yes. Beyond current games? Definitely not. Modern games like Elden Ring are so perfectly crafted with so much depth and attention to story and detail. I haven’t even played it but I understand a good game.

I played this game extensively when I was around 9 or 10. I was having lots of people complain about the cleanliness of my park, and rather than do what most people do (hire more handymen), I instead created Barf Island. I'd wait until the thrill rides finished, grab anyone who felt sick, haul them to an island in the middle of my lake (with a few amenities like food stands, drinks, toilets and a gentle ride), and leave them there until the nausia went away or until they vomitted. Then I'd return them back to the mainland.

Underrated Duo for sure. Damien and Tommy or Damien and Chanse get along super well in videos. Something about Damien's disarming politeness really makes you lower those guards.

The amount of hours of my life I spent playing this game, is insane... Don't regret a single bit of it. Also sank just as many into the sequels. Well, the good ones...
When they stopped letting you kill people, I possibly cried... Watching the cart fly off the tracks and across the sky full of people as it crashes and explodes was a gift. A gift we all took for granted.
Besides that, man it's so much damn fun to build an amusement park. Decorate, rides, the stalls, employees, of course rollercoaster building. Naming everything, anything u want under the sun. Customizing colors for everything. Watching guest vomit, or taking their path away as they get lost, or drown them. Man, it's great.
As someone who grew up with this game, this was incredible lol.
Would definitely love to see more. Or maybe enjoy the chaos that was Zoo Tycoon, or maybe even better, the dinosaur version of Zoo Tycoon.

The first coaster they built was fine! Shayne put a sign in front of the entrance and I watched so many people try to get on it but smack their head into the sign and then walk away. What a bunch of goofs!
I don't think so. They didn't show the ride stats but if the intensity is too high no one will ride it. The little animation is cute though they'll walk up to it, realize what it is and do a little jump back while saying it looks too intense and then walk away
It was probably too intense due to the sharp turn at high speed with no bank. That shit'll snap your neck.

Hey, RCT nerd and real life coaster enthusiast here.
Your first wooden coaster probably wouldn't've been "too intense" or "too scary" if you wouldve made that final curve wider, banked the track, or even simply put some brakes before the final curve.
And Trevor joked.. but real parks absolutely can buy pre-designed coasters to save on time, and most of all (not true in rct) save money :p

That reminds me of a time, when we used to play every game together on the pc of a friend. Very often single player games, except for rare hot seat games like Worms or HOMM. Simpler times, but always a blast, joking around while still playing together.
