    I love Norfolk. A mate of mine had a caravan at Hopton back in the mid to late 80s. Mostly binge drinking as we were in our teens but nice to get away from the SE for the odd weekend. Hopefully getting up that way again soon on the Tracer as another old friend has moved to Hopton. Great vlog as always.

      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 лет назад

      Cheers Vine68 - I only went to Hopton once, again it was when I worked at the local BBC radio station, we did a week of "OB's" from Potters Holiday camp, great fun was had....

    Nice one mate and glad you took in Ludham, like you I used to fish and it was an annual pilgrimage to the campsite next to Ludham Bridge, fishing the River Ant and at night on Hickling Broad. Rubbish beer in 'The Dog'.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 лет назад

      ...sadly I was too young for beer in those days so I'll take it from you regarding beer in the "The Dog" - long way for you to go for a bit of fishing wasn't it??

      Thanks Martin, and yes, those coastal roads are lovely to blow the cobwebs away aren't they....I'm not sure I'd fancy them on my Panigale as they can be a bit narrow in places but I guess if you know the road well that's not so much of a problem.... All the best and thanks for watching - TMF

    Just catching up with your films as a new subscriber. If you had looked to your left at 06.20 you would see Beeston Bump which is where the DF location was. I played up there for most of my youth and never knew what the concrete pad was until it was on TV, the Coast programme I believe. Been out of biking for 15 years now reconsidering, keep up the good work!

    Thanks TMF for a fantastic couple of videos of Norfolk. I, like you spent my childhood holidays during the 70's/80's on both the Broads and the coast. If you went fishing can you remember "Lathems of Potter Highem" who at the time claimed to be the largest Angling store in the world!. I wonder if they are still going?.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 лет назад

      I do remember a quite huge tackle shop there, so they could have been right (although somehow I doubt it)....I used to love tackle shops, real Aladdin's caves....not sure I'd be so excited about it now, funny how you change as you get older isn't it....

    The radio guidance system you are thinking of was called "oboe", in which 2 ground stations transmitted signals which were retransmitted by a transponder in the aircraft. By comparing the time each signal took to reach the aircraft the operator on the ground would then transmit a signal telling the aircraft they were over the target....Oboe could only guide one aircraft a later version called Gee-H in which the transponder was on the ground and the readouts in the aircraft. which allowed about 80 aircraft to be guided at the same time...

    Nobody is better at this than you right now! Thanks for the recent travelogues - real inspiration for future tours. I strikes me there's a real need for something along these lines on TV - ever thought of stepping it up a notch? Keep up the good work. Cheers, Chris

      Suggesting 'stepping up' to the TV arena. We are terribly starved of motorcycle programming, especially here in Canada, despite the number of folk owning or interested in motorcycles. The joy of touring and discovery on two wheels is a rich source of material.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer

      Wow that is a blast from the past Chris - I had forgotten all about that, I loved that programme! John owned and ran a tackle shop in Norwich called "Johns tackle den" and I remember always being excited to buy a float from the great man himself....simpler days then eh??

      They most certainly were. My parents had a static caravan up in Whitby where would spend our summer holidays, that seemed like exotic luxury back then. Im not sure my kids would have had the same enthusiasm or excitment for such a holiday when they were growing up

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 лет назад

      A bit harsh Colin.....the North Norfolk coast is very nice as are the Norfolk Broads and Norwich really is "a fine City" - very historic with brilliant shopping, Suffolk is very picturesque too....not sure about places like Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, etc....but I've not really explored so can't really comment...

    You didn't stop at RoadKill Customs in Cromer then. Interesting bike shop with a cafe. They even accept adventure bikes there. I think you probably went past it as you were leaving Cromer on the left, they have a huge transformer like sculpture outside it.

      Yes, stop thinking and do it! It's fabulous up there (all of Wales is on a bike) - Snowdonia is lovely and you can cover all of Wales in two days of riding pretty much, if you go for it...other than Scotland, the best riding in the UK I reckon....

    Very informative. Nice to watch whilst having a fry up breakfast. I went to Sea Palling in April, a bit dull I thought, no offence intended. But when you're young anywhere can be excitingI suppose. I had one of those 2.0 Laser Capris in that same colour way back in 1986/87!!! Look forward to the next one - presumably telling us about your new 1200RT?? I still think you'll get one! :-) Cheers for now, Jon.

    I've only been over to the East side of the country through work and that was brief. The North Sea kind of puts me off grey or brown shite. What I will say the roads consist of alot of open sweepers with plenty of visibility through the bend unlike these Devon roads.
    And the flat inland areas strike me as a bit uninspiring. I must visit properly one day to give it a proper look .
    Those Quashquis breed they are everywhere. The Capri, they did one called The Brooklands a limited edition a real beauty in British racing green. My first car was an Opel Manta GTE learned and mastered oversteer at 17 whilst everyone else was posing in XR3is . That dates me, same gen as you I think
    Ride safe sir.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 лет назад

      ....yes I agree the flat lands can be a little uninspiring but as you say for a biker, the visibility of what's coming can be a breath of fresh air, if you've not done it then the area around the Broads is nice (I particularly like the Horning, Ranworth, Coltishall type areas) and the Norfolk coast has some amazing beaches. ....and an Opel Manta as a first car eh? Impressive, I was one of those posing in the XR3i (well a lookalike actually as I could only afford the 1.6s!!!)....

    I think you're right about the WWII radio stations. My understanding is that, despite them, the Norton bomb site and other efforts, real precision was never attained by either England or the US.

    • @dnlgrhm
      @dnlgrhm 6 лет назад

      Thinking about the directional ration stations makes me wonder if they were the precursors of what were called Omni stations in the US. I haven't flown in many decades so I don't know if they are still in use in the US but they used to be everywhere.
