i made a quick check on the wiki archive of the Destiny and the "Palma Fiocina" may actually be designed for both ranges, actually the name means palm spear and a spear is designed for both close and long range combat. ps: now that i think about it how can you call a beam fired from the palm a BEAM GUN?

no it isn't. it is a BEAM GUN. Shin uses it like a Shining finger because he's fucking inept. otherwise, Grabbing the hot-ends of Infinite Justice's Beam Sabers would have actually worked. but it failed. MISERABLY.
