For me this would all be about Discard. There are some great ways to discard cards to create tokens. And giving use to dead cards is nice as well or stuffing those cards into your graveyard for value. I'll go through a list I think might be worth considering. Scuttletide, Call the Bloodline, Skirk Ridge Exhumer, Sliversmith, The Underworld Cookbook, Thraben Standard Bearer and Zombie Infestation are all really fun ones you could consider. I think Scuttletide is the best of them though followed by Zombie Infestation. Skirge Familiar with either Drake Haven or Bone Miser are both powerful combos in this deck. Bone Miser also works with Zombie infestation. If we're doing tokens and discard what better options could you look at aside from some very spicy reanimation spells. Dread Return is a known favorite and very cheap but Endless Obedience has to be a massively under rated card still and its only like 10 cents.

So true, unfortunatelly... those commanders are so weak. The other mono color commander (for tyranids), yeah the Old One Eye :D, is an absolute beast. Both Szarekh & Imotekh are nowhere near :(
Imotekh looks pretty solid to me. The second ability is naff but getting two 2/2s whenever an artifact leaves your GY for any reason seems good. Bearing in mind that includes things like delve and escape costs
Really good with blackmarket connections! Draw two every first main phase. Great with pitiless plunderer too. Everytime a creature you control dies draw a card and make a treasure, seems good
This card might be cedh viable. It's really grindy and is an infinite mana outlet from the command zone. Plus It's consultation/oracle and adnause colors. He's also a chunky enough creature to pressure life totals of people playing adnaus, and blocks on the ground really well.
Yeah I felt the same thing, it's definitely a nuts card. I'm sure we'll see some stuff that doesn't normally get played due to the token synergy possibly as well. Smothering Tithe is going to be the best four drop you've ever seen in CEDH lmfao

I want Marneus for my Alela deck! It may not be a flyer but I create a buttload of tokens in that deck between Alela, Court of Grace, Felidar Retreat, Shark Typhoon, Emeria Angel, etc.
Grew up loving both games. Felt icky when I first heard of the cross-over, keep Magic Magic and whatnot... but I need these cards so bad, take my money Wizards!
I guess the most important thing is whether the design teams are taking care to stay faithful both to the characters and concepts in 40k and to the mechanical philosophy of Magic. Just read Maro's article about it today and they seem to be doing that, so I figure why not enjoy it

Talos would basically be Ponder with feet. Probably not as impressive as you'd think. Less so than Xarl, Ruven, or even Uzas. ...Ah, who are we kidding? Talos Valcoran is _far_ too obscure.

Pay 6 create 4x 2/2 Token (due to anointed prosession), draw a card (let the triggert ability resolve), sac 3 Token to the altar to generate 6 mana, and make another 4 Token, let the draw ability resolve and so on. Infinite Mana, infinite draw and per cycle 1 Token plus and draw your deck.
The face of the pre cons usually are what the deck wants to do in a simple way. Usually the back up commander is the engine that usually is better. "Shorkai " is one good example.
dark rit for 2c and the 1b lotus for the white or blue then one of the moxes for the other color ( chrome Mox or Mox diamond would be the easiest 2 to do it with but with the right hand mox opal could as well) yes it's the ultimate God hand but it is technically possible to turn one him with the right stuff in the deck which for cEDH I imagine most players would have or shell out for in this deck
The thing is to remember with Warhammer there is a billion worlds with different races, people/aliens are going to say his name different. Mar-Knee-Us Cal-Gar is normally how its heard. If you care Luetin09 has an amazing Lore Channel that does lots of videos his Primarc to Primaris is a great listen to and has a lot of these names spoken.

Also do you REALLY know the lore about 99% of the cards in the game? That’s insane if you do. Wouldn't the doubler count as one instance? I mean, yeah, tons of tokens, but the second copy doesn't get an additional draw cus the ability is a replacement effect.

Since Calgar's trigger reads "one or more," he's only checking for abilities that create tokens, but not actually counting how many are made. Using treasure tokens as an example, if your opponent fails to pay for your Smothering Tithe trigger, you get a treasure, then you draw a card. If a Dockside Extortionist resolves, and you make a bajillion treasures, you'll still only draw one card, because they're all made on a single trigger. Anointed procession doesn't matter for Calgar's trigger. Panharmonicon, however...
So many nutty combo's that can be slotted into this. Probably wont even need all that much card cycling to hit some of them. Imagine hitting an infinite draw and getting a Vensers Journal, massive life gains. Draw into a Sanguin Bond ability after that and that gain will likly be one shotting opponents each upkeep
Shout out to minn wily illusionist, whenever you draw your second card create an illusion token, also great deck for Archmage assension to get those tutors and of course martyrs bond because who needs friends. #blameeddie
First cards you are putting in this deck have to be reliquary tower, Wizard class, spellbook, thought vessel, decanter of endless water. Then curiosity crafter, body of knowledge and triskaidekaphile.

I'm putting him in my Kenrith cycling deck. Between Zirda and that simic creature that lower costs, I can make two vigilant warriors for 2 or 4 mana at a time and draw off of them like crazy.
Okay...let's look at Trynn/Silvar. Two cards, nine mana, an attack step, that one has to survive to get a single token at the END step that you can then sacrifice for a +1/+1 counter and temporary indestructibility. Oh, and Menace on the more expensive card. Now let's look back this single card featured in this video: 1 Card. 4 Mana to cast. Double strike. 6 Mana to activate (no timing restriction what-so-ever): Make two Vigilance guys and draw a card. So the card that never needs ot attack to do it's thing....has Double Strike. You think these are equally good? Okay..Dihada. 4 mana...okay, we are at least matching a casting cost. +2 To buff a Legendary creature you control...so without a Legendary creature this does nothing. Cool. - T H R E E Look at the top 4, put legends into your hand, get a token for each, bin the rest. Okay...so we can whiff. For -3 loyalty. Yeah...you can build to make this good. You can build to make ANY card good. But inherently this CAN whiff and ticks down a LOT...and we only started with 5. It doesn't even defend itself on the minus. I'm struggling to even think of a Walker ability that subtracts THREE loyalty that can have such little impact. "But her first ability protects her!" IF you have a Legendary creature. And even then, they can respond to the trigger to just blow you out or just exile/bounce the creature. Ult at - 11, which means alone she has stayed alive for at least 4 turns. To have a super Insurrection. You know how you keep Dihada alive for 4 turns? You wipe the board at least once. So much for having non-land perms to take control of. Pathetic. Okay: Shanid. 4 mana, YAY! Parity! 2/4! Somehow...worse stats? Menace! Worse combat ability... Other legends you control have Menace: Oh, so he needs other cards... Whenever you play a legendary Land/Spell you may lose a life and draw a card. Okay...as opposed to...the guy who literally makes his own army in a single card? And doesn't lose a life? And there are how many token makers vs Legendary permanents to use with Shanid? Not to mention Shanid is TRASH compared to Sisay? Like...did you think about what you were saying? At all?
@@raedien dude, take it easy :) Trynn// silvar gives you a sac outlet from the command zone - that's really what makes that card strong (the +1/+1 counter and indestructible is a nice extra). Dihada: if you +2 her and you don't have a legend on board by turn 4 you built the deck in the wrong way. The -3 at worst gives you 4 treasure, that means next turn you have 9 mana available (if you don't miss the land drop). If you manage to -11 you have basically won Shanid: draw engine in the command zone at a reasonable cost. Almost every card of your deck becomes a cantrip. I don't know at what level you play, but I have an orzhov deck that makes even the dreaded blue players cry :) Having a third color (red) would make it even better!
Panharmonicon is gonna be NUTS with Calgar. Almost every token you make is either a creature or an artifact so he's going to pop off with it either way!
This is 5 mana and it's so good it will get removed so fast in the games I'm in. I plan on making him weak, you should just leave him there and let me draw cards. The deck has Zero good cards. Please does remove him from the table lol
40k fan here. Your pronunciation was fine. :) And I'm kind of sad that he's overpowered because he's one of my favorite characters in the setting and I was honestly thinking of playing him as a commander.
"Ass-Tar-Tease", i imagine that they didn't want to make them human despite techinically being so, the Astartes are the modified super-soldiers of the imperium of man more generally known as space marines. 40k has some genuinely interesting, if sometimes fucked up(ie daemonculaba), lore and i recommend you guys look in to it.

This commander is getting banned outside of tabletop. There is almost no way to build around this commander that won't be broken. Even with Bloodforged Battleaxe, this card is OP as long as it hits.
This card is significantly less powerful than tons of commanders. The best example I have is Urza and it’s not even close. It is pretty strong but it’s combos are moderately expensive. This is just a good midrange commander.
@@NotSoSerious69420 Urza is one color. It lacks the removal of one color and the tutoring of another color for just one less mana. Urza may be a quick solution in commander, it is still shut down by a lot of things blue can't handle without Rift. That isn't to say that there aren't cards in both MH and MH2 that shouldn't be banned, I am just saying that this commander is really good in casual and CEDH.
I’m pissed that they didn’t make him the main commander since the Ultramarines are the “face of the franchise” for Warhammer 40,000. Katarinya Grayfax has nothing compared to this dude in the 40K lore and in this deck apparently.

Genesis Chamber, Smothering Tithe, You don't need doublers to make this work, you just need triggered abilities.

So many nutty combo's that can be slotted into this. Probably wont even need all that much card cycling to hit some of them. Imagine hitting an infinite draw and getting a Vensers Journal, massive life gains. Draw into a Sanguin Bond ability after that and that gain will likly be one shotting opponents each upkeep
Finally a card where the title is very much warranted

I'm putting him in my Kenrith cycling deck. Between Zirda and that simic creature that lower costs, I can make two vigilant warriors for 2 or 4 mana at a time and draw off of them like crazy.
Nuisance engine / academy manufacture / twilight drover are definate essential to this commander

Two cards, nine mana, an attack step, that one has to survive to get a single token at the END step that you can then sacrifice for a +1/+1 counter and temporary indestructibility. Oh, and Menace on the more expensive card.

Okay...so we can whiff. For -3 loyalty. Yeah...you can build to make this good. You can build to make ANY card good. But inherently this CAN whiff and ticks down a LOT...and we only started with 5. It doesn't even defend itself on the minus. I'm struggling to even think of a Walker ability that subtracts THREE loyalty that can have such little impact. "But her first ability protects her!" IF you have a Legendary creature. And even then, they can respond to the trigger to just blow you out or just exile/bounce the creature.
Ult at - 11, which means alone she has stayed alive for at least 4 turns. To have a super Insurrection.
You know how you keep Dihada alive for 4 turns? You wipe the board at least once. So much for having non-land perms to take control of.

Trynn// silvar gives you a sac outlet from the command zone - that's really what makes that card strong (the +1/+1 counter and indestructible is a nice extra).
Dihada: if you +2 her and you don't have a legend on board by turn 4 you built the deck in the wrong way.
The -3 at worst gives you 4 treasure, that means next turn you have 9 mana available (if you don't miss the land drop).
If you manage to -11 you have basically won
Shanid: draw engine in the command zone at a reasonable cost. Almost every card of your deck becomes a cantrip.
I don't know at what level you play, but I have an orzhov deck that makes even the dreaded blue players cry :) Having a third color (red) would make it even better!

Wizards deliberately limiting good cards with once per turn or sorcery speed activation and yet they print this bs broken card. Why??
To be fair, it is once per instance. It’s a great mid range commander but it’s going to be a magnet for getting hated out of the game first.

This commander is getting banned outside of tabletop. There is almost no way to build around this commander that won't be broken. Even with Bloodforged Battleaxe, this card is OP as long as it hits.
This card is significantly less powerful than tons of commanders. The best example I have is Urza and it’s not even close. It is pretty strong but it’s combos are moderately expensive. This is just a good midrange commander.
@@NotSoSerious69420 Urza is one color. It lacks the removal of one color and the tutoring of another color for just one less mana. Urza may be a quick solution in commander, it is still shut down by a lot of things blue can't handle without Rift. That isn't to say that there aren't cards in both MH and MH2 that shouldn't be banned, I am just saying that this commander is really good in casual and CEDH.
I’m pissed that they didn’t make him the main commander since the Ultramarines are the “face of the franchise” for Warhammer 40,000. Katarinya Grayfax has nothing compared to this dude in the 40K lore and in this deck apparently.
