I flip hockey cards for a living... I do vintage baseball too but mostly hockey cards... I've been collecting mu entire life... I started back in 1987 as a kid and got out of it in the late 90's (I didn't want to be the "dork" around the ladies, lol) but then I just got back into it in 2016... I pulled a Matthews YG in the first pack I opened in 20 years....Then I bought a blaster and got the "jumbo Matthews"..... Yea, this is where I belong, lol.... I love what I do now... I love all of the collectors - they're awesome and the community is fantastic - it's just wonderful.....
That's what I was thinking, and have been doing for almost 20 years now. Haven't lost a bundle on a case yet. Of course send the hot rookies in for grading to increase the value. After 20 years, if I can't profit from a case, I'm doing something wrong.

Unfortunately prices have been shooting up, but your best bet are these Series 1 boxes that retail for ~$130 CAD depending on where you are located. They also release "retail products" which are in walmart. You can pick up tins or boxes for around ~$30 which are decent

I've been doing RUclips for 3+ years and 99.9% it's a loss. Now I just opened my first hokey pack last week so it's a new endeavor. But Pokémon, Football, Basketball, Baseball is all set up that generally only 8-12% of total box's will profit and less than that will cover the cost of the box.
For sure! there is far more potential in sending cards in for grading. But I wanted to remove that factor because you never know what quality of a card you get, or how lucky you will get with the grader
Lol "did I make profit" what happened to people being happy to find their favorite teams and players opening packs now it's ONLY "did I make profit" people sending in cards that will never be rare to get graded making it nearly impossible to send a card In that's worth it to get graded...
Agreed, I even say that in the video. But being that I am starting up a card business and I have a business school background, I am very interested in the economics of opening a case.

@@jordanlibke I understand what you're saying, but that has more to do with the pandemic shortening the supply. In the past products are typically readily available, but haeven't been because of Covid. It'll bounce back though!

Cheaper to buy the key cards graded 9-10 on Ebay. I guess in your area woods is too rare to find for the fireplace,cards will do.

14:18 I think the only people buying boxes, and cases are RUclipsrs, for content. I can't imagine regular Joes buying them hoping for a pull. I would imagine, like I do, most people will just buy the card they want, rather than buying boxes hoping to pull it. Especially with the cost of them nowadays.

I went to a local convenience store and I bought 3 hobby packs. Pulled a Rossi clear cut YG. Was stoked, even got my reaction on camera.

Ebay has a filter for recent sales. Look up the card you pulled and click that filter

$1,400 minus actual selling price which is around 20% below estimated value minus selling fees if selling on ebay so maybe you get $800 to $900 back
For sure. I sent in the tops cards from this break into grading. Im going to do a series 2 case break next week where I’ll also go over the grades 🤘🏼
