This song makes it sound like the IRA won this skirmish when all that really happened was their commander was killed. Edit: Now I think this is about a different incident, most likely the Battle of Courtbane. Either way the account is clearly embellished. This song mentions the use of a road bomb when there doesn't seem to have been any exposives used at Courtbane. And I can't find any other IRA attacks in Armagh that involved the use of both a bomb and gunfire to attack a British patrol during then timeframe of McVerry's IRA career.
