      @@SeanRosati brecker is a coltrane fan, but his vocabulary is bigger and as creative as coltrane's

    Brecker's solo is off the scale. I love the way he even parodies his own famous riff (you know the one I mean).

    You see a lot of jazz, even sax, casuals like to compare chris potter to Mike brecker. But they're sorely wrong. Chris Potter is not on the same plane, not by a long shot. Chris focuses on obvious rhythmic and harmonic material, and Mike Brecker is on a more sophisticated level (subtle). If that's too hard for you to understand, then idk what to tell you.
