No fancy feathers and wedges here folks, just straight up 1" rebar cut into a hand point and a set of wedges with grass feathers. This is the best video ever for anyone who works with stone. So much respect.
Yep, so simple and yet so much respect you have for this man..., working with stones and chisels is not a job for the weak, it requires both patience and strength.
@@politic17 And yet, hes man enough to just straight up buy a wee thing of ice creme in the middle of his shift with no weird looks from the other guys. mad rspekt.
Good thing he has the super cap and steel toe nails for protection.
That is why many Archaeologists claim that Ancient civilizations were more advanced than most give credit for,.. They developed techniques like this YES by today's standards this way is crude and hard labor, but back in ancient times they did not have jack hammers & such, they had to to do with what tools they had or could ""invent" and make them work and did what it took to get the job done,,They advanced in their technology by adding to, or thinking & creating new ideas & ways of doing things just as modern day man does
@@aaronward4319 why would there be any weird looks ?? Are you implying that eating ice cream is somehow unmanly ?? Are you for real right now ??
He deserves a new Vodafone cap ... he is well worth their sponsorship !
Thank you for sharing! This is fascinating! I have never seen rock splitting like this before. It’s truly an art. The man being filmed is so skilled! He knows exactly what he’s doing and doesn’t miss a hit. Incredibly skilled labor!

MrZygy3 - Great video! Thanks so much for sharing this from a rock quarry in Java, Indonesia. I have seen some of these techniques before but not so many stones at one time. I also am impressed with these boys loading the heavy stones! Wow! Very hard work. Is this 'granite' stome?
Hi Steve, it's volcano rocks from the pyroclastic eruption in 2010. IT's easy to find massive huge rocks here. Thank you for watching my video, greeting from Java, Indonesia.
Verry Awesome 💪🏼👍🏼Happy NewYear MrZygy3 😉✌🏼
Wow. Such craftsmanship with hard work!!
Thank you Rafael
I have seen many blocks of granite with holes like those around their edges. I am sure some of them were split by similar methods. The stone workers art is a very old one. I respect anyone past or present, who can do such work with basic tools and their skilled hands,. Thanks for sharing this art.
Thank you Jeffrey for watching my video, Greeting from Java, Indonesia
Whilst it is a highly skilled craft, it is extremely hard, back-breaking and dangerous work. The men wear no protective shoes or gloves, eye protection or hard hats. The possibility of serious injury is high. They have to be extremely careful. Thank you for sharing this.
1" 1/4 rebar for a hand point and wedges. Getting back to nitty gritty. tons of respect
Thank you Ironic
Pure fascination and admiration for this guy and the hard work he does n yet he makes it look like an easy sunday morning. Whatta hard worker. Whatta man.. whatta legend!
Thank you J. C. Sams, greeting from Java, Indonesia.

Let see...
Lol yes!
고생이많으시네요...
I worked in Indo many years ago, andesitic volcanic tuff, breccia, sandstone makes up most of the regions bedrock. There are many artisans carving temple statues and other art pieces using this very workable stone. Great to see the quarry men getting the raw material! You should show a follow up video of the next step in the process from quarry to statue.
True !! That's good idea, i will try to record the process. Thank you Luc for watching my video, greeting from Java, Indonesia.
Kerasnya hidup..
This is a tough job God bless them!
Thank you Medo, greeting from Java, Indonesia. Stay safe

Thank you Claudio
It's so satisfying to watch the rebar pins bite into the stone
Thank you
Does the spacing have anything to do with the rock's resonance along the line they are breaking?
Hermoso video claro ejemplo que las pirámides de Egipto y de todo el mundo fueron construidas por manos de nuestros ancestros
If anyone has swung a 12 or 16 pound sledge hammer, that is some pretty tough work. And this guy swings it like if it were a feather. One tough hombre.
Thank you
And the historical channel will call them ancient aliens. Hehehehe
O que é essa Rocha?
Para que serve?

Must admit pretty crazy that they actually turn all that rock in tiny little shinny glass marbles ..!! Interesting would have never known . I've been playing with marbles since I was zero years old 😜
Interesante es un capo
The wedges look like use Rebar, that they make there tools from . Unbelievable, and 10 lb sledgehammer.
Godzilla had a stroke reading this and fucking died
You may also check the wooden peg & hot water technology used for splitting boulders some time around 600 AD in Mahabalipuram, Tamilnadu, India.
Nice rock that splitt so easy straight down. Fortune! Mybee its common there? Here In Scandinavia its most stubborn.
Innovative!!
Thank you Raj
mesti ngombene kuku bima energi ross💪
The tools look like they have been made out of rebar, certainly hard repetitive work.
Correct, thank you Hugh Trenchard for watching my video, greeting from Java, Indonesia
Excelente trabajo y video de cuantas pulgadas son las cuñas de varilla?

@@deepfriedmackerel2263 Yes Correct Sir ! Thank you..
Wow! Is there anything weed can't do?
No no...
Walah koyo pengawean ku iku maas,, hahahaha
I've been to Prambanan (Central Java). Probably volcanic rock. Looks almost like masonry cement (Portland cement & sand, but no gravel). Quartz would be much tougher to split. Typical safety rules for Indonesia, i.e. none. But he still has both eyes and 10 toes in the flip-flops, so must be good with the hammer and knows when to avert his gaze.
10 minutes from my house. Well, he was joining on Prambanan temple in 1980. And he still breaking till today. Thank you William for watching my video, greeting from Yogyakarta, Centra Java, Indonesia.
@Charlie K You are totally 10000% wrong
@Charlie K Dude he's been doing this for 40 yrs or so;he knows what he's doing !!
The choice of safety boots does it for me.....But still great Rock spitting skills!👍
Very nice. It works also with granit? Why grass weed?
Keep going the mountain is still there!
That's the plan!
IF I DO THAT TIPE OF WORK IN ONE DAY YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT I'LL BE IN BED FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK. THESE GUYS REALY HAVE STRONG HEARTS. TO DO THIS TIPE OF WORK. GOD BLESS THEM .
Since 80's, they are Master. Thanks Josian.
The grass is a big help, when they have cut a nice line they smoke it.
Thanks Jeff
It's amazing how soft weeds and small hand chisels can break hard stones. But it takes time and energy, this way of splitting rocks seems only suitable for small workload, if you have a lot of stones, or mining stone from the whole mountain, mechanized operation is the best choice, such as hydraulic rock splitter machine, same working way as using the wedge principle, driven by hydraulic power station, can instantly produce thousands of tons of splitting strength. Even the hardest granite can be split. You only need to drill holes of appropriate size and then insert the splitting machine gun head and to start the hydraulic power station. The splitting process can be completed in less than one minute, which is very safe and efficient, saving time and labor energy. Field work projects, also can use diesel or gasoline powered hydraulic power station, very convenient.
Im from jogja ( indonesia) n i'm happy
Terima kasih mas
