LLB never fails to impress. Covering "studio cuts" while playing them flawlessly, live.
They sound great, and I’m sure they record the audio live and then mix it afterwards.
But the video doesn’t always match the audio.
So I guess they sometimes use the video from other takes, or edit in certain shots from them.
Waite is very under rated. Starting with the Baby's his solo years and The Bad English Days.
Agreed totally. Have you seen this song he does with Alison Krauss? I had no ideas they were a couple the last 16 years.
I got to see him with The Baby's several times as they opened for several summer jams in the 80's.. Sadly, 2 times they were booed off the stage because people impatiently wanting the headliners sooner.. They were always class

John Waite has always been an amazing talent. Kevin is certainly one of the very best lead vocalists of LLB. He absolutely nails this classic, and I remember him doing the same with Lionel Richie’s You Are!

OK I guess the proper word to describe this is WOW. Lead singer delivers this nicely without over-singing it and considering that it is in the original key of G that ain’t easy. It’s up there. Capturing the cool and grit that Jon Waite brought to this classic soft rock song doesn’t just happen. You’ve got to deliver all the breathy nuances that the song demands - all the while your volume and pitch getting into and dropping off the word you’re singing has to be perfect. Smooth so nobody even notices. Like this guy did it. Kevin - is that your name? Nice one. Great song ~ great job
Kevin's voice is so amazing!! What a find for LLB!!! Kevin so perfectly fits this song and "The Way It is". His passion is absolutely beautiful. His vocal nuances , interpretation, and expression draw the listener into a whole new and exciting creation from familiar material. I hope to hear Kevin often in LLB's future work. How exciting it would be to hear LLB cover The Baby's "Isn't It TIme", with Kevin as lead vocalist, including Jessica and other amazing LLB singers doing the chorus. Wow!!

Covers live or die in the small details - the nuances, the parts that are low in the mix, the “vibe” for lack of a better term. Only fellow OCD music nerds will notice the guitar and synth nuances at 0:38, but they’re so important in driving the momentum of the song. It’s one thing to notice them, but it’s another to replicate them so accurately. Well done LLB. This is stunning.
Side note…I once met Chas Sandford, the co-writer of this and “What Kind Of Man Would I Be”, and the producer of Chicago 19. I thanked him for facilitating countless teenage make out sessions LOL.

First time watching this video and I'm thinking I hope it's Kevin doing the lead vocals... I was not disappointed. The original vocals match his voice perfectly.
Another great LLB cover! Like most Lab Band fans, I appreciate the way you guys aren't afraid to take on the big songs and then you do a remarkable job of representing the song each time. But more than that, what I really appreciate is when you take on a song that I've heard a million times back in the day but never really connected with (like this one or Lionel Richie's "You Are") and then you knock it out of the park and make me see that it was a better song than I remembered! I know it's due to great musicianship, great performances, great filming, great mixing/editing and all that, but I think on some of these songs, the secret sauce is Kevin's singing! Keep it up! I just might have to make it to the live show this year!
Heard John Waite on the local classic rock radio Thursday on the way home. Thought "wonder if LLB would take a run at this?" Saturday 12:40 am, chilling and what's this on RUclips? Got a case of the real chills then thought "great minds think alike!" Is Kevin John Waite's twin brother separated at birth? Voice patterns are eerily alike! Great song, great singer, great band.
