Same; I was courtside at her first-round match. I don't think I saw a single drive-backhand from her that day...although I did miss most of the first set.
The thing that saddens me most about Diane Parry's backhand is that she has a really good topspin, but during play she reverts almost exclusively to slice. Opponents target her backhand identifying it as a weakness, but her inability to punch back with topspin makes her game very lopsided. Wish she could gain that extra tenth of a second to get her self prepared to hit topspin more often.
@@ishannage248 Federer turns/coils a lot, too but compare the sizes of their behind the back loops. Federer’s bent elbow makes the loop much smaller, more compact.
@@LucasVanWerde less stability, less spin, worse return, bad positioning on high balls do you even watch tennis dude? Federer and Dimitrov struggled with their OHB. If you are talking about good OHB then why u r not mentioning Wawrinka? The best OHB in modern tennis.
It's clear as a day to me she modelled her groundstrokes and overall form based on Federer's technique! She even has his famous shuffle stance between strokes! Haha
@@MelodyMaker Agree. OHB topspin requires early preparation and full commitment. Most players will fallback to slices when nervous or under time pressure. It's not a coincident that all great returner/retriever (Agassi, Chang, Djokovic, Nadal, ...) are 2HB players.
The way she takes her racquet back on her backhand (allll the way behind her, not just in line with her shoulders) is something I’ll think long and hard about.
I dont care what people say, the agility that a one handed backhand gives you will give you an advantage, but fewer practice it and it takes more effort to master.
It took me a year to learn my one hander switching from two. It’s difficult to learn especially when you’re teaching yourself! lol Watched a ton of videos from Fed to Stan to Dimitrov learning the footwork, positioning, and upper body torque to generate power. It all paid off and I will never go back. Returning serves, reach and versatility are major advantages over a two hander!
@@damirvaleev1293actually not true. Fed, Stan and Dimitrov are excellent returners on the backhand side…especially Fed. As a one hander myself returning fast servers is much easier!
@@nelsonc6173 you can convince yourself as much as you want, but statistics says that best returner with one handed is dimitrov on 28 position among returners
When I switched to one handed my slice and my bh volleys got much better than when I was two handed and I got much better in playing doubles especially in the net I can attack easily
Love Parry! But she needs to stop slicing with that beautiful one handed backhand and come over the top more! She needs to be more offensive with that shot like Fed and Stan and Henin!
I reckon she lacks confidence in match play hence the constant slicing. Dimitrov is pretty much the same - has a great single-handed backhand but reverts to slice too much of the time because he does not trust it enough in the pressure cooker of a match.
Agree, her one handed backhand is not good at all. She can only do it in the practice or when the ball comes slow to her. I saw one of her matches in AU open, she hit with slices 90% of the backhands. The rest 10% of top spin backhand was either short or misses.
I love one handers. If you look at backhands today they are really two handed forehands. Compare to players from way back. Borg, Dibbs, Solomon. And you will see the difference.
Simply stunning. Incredible power and precision.
Thank you Liam as always. Long live COURT LEVEL TENNIS!
Cheers,

Saw her backhand up close at the US Open. She sliced a lot which was very effective, was able to hit the topspin well when needed too. Great backhand.
Same; I was courtside at her first-round match. I don't think I saw a single drive-backhand from her that day...although I did miss most of the first set.
maybe because her opponents' game plan is to hit it away from her strike zone of that one hander. Similar to how Rafa always made Fed slice his BH
Great net clearance, wow! And a clean OHBH!
The tennis world needs a new Justine Henin. Let it be Dianne Parry!!!
@Mmmyess That was exactly what I thought the minute I saw her one handed backhanded. What an absolutely beautiful backhand by Justin.
Yeah, But Diane only uses the topspin maybe 5-10% of the time. Justine used hers 80% of the time. They are not comparable.
absolut.
Parry is nowhere near Henin in overall ability.
@@danguee1THIS. She only uses the useless slice. Unbelievable
good to see that one handed backhand isn't dead
Such a gorgeous technique on that one-handed backhand! Wish her lots of success!
Wishing her the best of luck, she's only 22 she can still peak and bring one hand back into style!
Really nice strokes on both wings. Nice slice.

Maybe making that (behind the back) big loop smaller would help. Compact is better.
@@watcher687 not really with OHB though, You need a really nice big coil/turn to generate a good swing.

Very nice strokes
Women who want to master the one-handed backhand and see how to use it as a real offensive weapon need only watch Justine Henin
Saw her at indian wells this year. So smooth when she plays but she slices the bh a lot more during matches.
Interesting. This is the tendency when confidence under pressure lacks.

She hits the forehand late all the time
That's Ivan Lendl disguised in a women's outfit.
Imagine if she bent her knees more on the BH??
I don't care about one or two handed back hands as long as they stop screaming, that is what annoys me as hell
P.S. She missed one legitimate groundie into the net. Maybe two.
Hitting partner is USELESS
Agreed
Lol I was afraid to see this. Perhaps true...
Not useless, but profoundly disappointing
I'm almost as good as her hitting partner
The flaw in her practice is that she only does defensive middle court rally. No offensive play. She won't be able in win matches. But what do I know.
Less male pros are using one hand these days.
SHE NEVER USES IT! In a match she is just slicing and it is getting het nowhere
