- We were looking for a getaway place that is private and exclusive to our family. We came across Julian's Island Lodge - it's a house on an island in Cavinti, Laguna situated on Lake Lumot. The place looks so inviting in pictures that's why we decided to book it. We chose the earliest weekend available. That's how excited we were to stay in this lake house. 😊
Sharing the instruction that I got from Julian (the owner of the lodge) - "Once your reach the town of Bukal you can call the caretaker Sammy who will pick you up and bring you to the island…Please also note to bring your groceries with you as there are no larger supermarkets close to the house…"
It's a 2.5 to 3 hour drive from Metro Manila. We were not the only guests on the island though as there is a camping site at the backside of the island. But we had the island most to ourselves.
There are insects inside and outside the house. Watch out for mosquitoes! We saw a LOT of mosquitoes at the balcony of the two bedrooms.
We opted not to swim in the lake. The weather was sunny when we arrived, however, it rained hard the next day. We also experienced water shortage and water interruption during our overnight stay. My father in law helped the caretakers fetch water from the lake so we would have water to use.
We brought our own utensils, groceries, and also cooked our own food. We paid extra for drinking water, parking, and kayaking. There's no AC in the house, but there is an electric fan in every bedroom and also in the living room. Towels were not provided. There is a bedroom located on the ground floor, but if you are sensitive to musty smells, you might feel uncomfortable sleeping there. What we did was to put mattresses on the floor in the living area, some of us slept there.
There's no wifi and the signal is intermittent. The house looks like a traditional Filipino ancestral house. Do not expect a super clean and spotless accommodation, nor a topnotch "service". But the view from the house is definitely scenic and amazing which made the trip worth it! The lights at night create a romantic vibe perfect for photo ops. Julian's Island Lodge is a great place for nature lovers!

Me and my family had an unpleasant stay in this place for one night due to miscommunication and unfriendly staff very disappointed and not recommendable on my fellow balikbayan friends 😔😔👎👎👎
Sad to hear sa na-experience nyo. Hindi nga po friendly yung staff nila :(
