Way V is no longer the Chinese unit. Their company has now categorized them as the global unit of NCT. They are no longer part of the NEO team (which handles all the other units) because, basically, they weren't being promoted and were kept in the shadows. Now, they're managed by the same team that handles SHINee (Taemin's group), and they're giving them everything. Ten is the main dancer of all of NCT, and their song 'Birthday' will leave you speechless.
@@lyzow Yes, they will continue making songs with NCT U. They are still part of NCT U. They were just assigned to a different team handling their projects and promotions.

Fun fact: As you heard, the MV for WayV's "Love Talk" is an all-English version, but -- because WayV is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT -- if you listen to the album, you will see there is a Mandarin version of the song, as well. SM just chose to only make an MV for the English version. Because WayV -- which stands for We Are Your Vision in English -- is part of NCT, NCT's whole dream concept is also part of WayV's storyline and concept. As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams, dreaming or something to do with being in a dream state. Some fans who are into SM group theories have also speculated that NCT's storyline also connects to EXO's storyline. Therefore, I think in WayV's "Love Talk" MV you are supposed to interpret it as if you are inside a dream. I see the cube that is floating in the air as part of SM's labyrinth concept where, like EXO, they might be trapped inside a maze. Which, if the maze is part of the Red Forces' plot, that could be why WayV are in a foggy dream state. (The Red Force are the evil group or being in EXO's storyline.) In EXO's storyline it is thought that the Red Force has trapped EXO in a maze and the maze dulls EXO's sense and makes it so they are unable to fight back. We often see the EXO members in a sleepy dazed state because they are under the Red Forces' control. And now with the release of aespa's "aespa ep. 2 'Next Level' -- SM Culture Universe" video, it looks like that same floating labyrinth cube that we see in "Love Talk" is what blocks aespa's way as they travel through Kwangya. (Everything SM does has to do with Kwangya -- even SM's new building where everything is created and produced is called Kwangya. Kwangya is the metaverse that all of SM's groups' and artists' concepts, and most of their MV storylines, revolve around.) And I think it might even be connected to the cubes we see in the sky in EXO Kai's solo "Mmmh" MV, as well as the labyrinth cube we see SHINee's Key standing on top of in his solo "Gasoline" MV. The only reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name like the other NCT sub-units is because, at the time of their debut, there was a lot of political issues between Korea and China, and because of that, as you may know, Korean companies were not able to work in China. NCT's Chinese sub-unit has been going to debut for years, but with all the political issues it took SM a long time to find a way to work around all the rules the Chinese government put in place to prevent its native Chinese citizens from working with anyone associated with Korea and preventing anyone who was working with a Korean company from working in China. Therefore, in order to circumvent some of China's restrictions, SM found/created a Chinese company that was willing to take on NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but also allow SM to have a say in the group's concept and promotion activities. Part of how they get around the rules is they gave the group a name that distances them from their Korean roots. (That is also why WayV's Chinese fans are called WayZenNi instead of NCTzens and why WayV has their own lightstick design that is different than NCT's) The company WayV is under is called Label V, which is part of SM, but separate from the Korean branch of the company and it produces songs in Mandarin to keep the Chinese government happy. All the members of WayV also speak Mandarin and have some connection to Chinese heritage, but most of the members are not native mainland Chinese citizens, so this gives them some immunity from the Chinese government. But they are representing China and they are promoting Chinese culture, so the Chinese government kind of turned a blind eye to the fact that they are technically still under a Korean company, as long as they hid any connection to their Korean company while doing promotions in China. As you can see, not only do the WayV members speak Mandarin, Korean and English, but they are a very international group that speaks many languages. For example, Ten is from Thailand so his first language is Thai, Lucas is from Hong Kong, so his first language is Cantonese -- Hendery and Xiaojun also speak Cantonese -- and YangYang went to school for several years in Germany, so he also speaks German. So, pretty much all of WayV's songs are in Mandarin with a few English lyrics and words mixed in. (Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive" or, as you heard, their all-English version of "Love Talk," or their song "Miracle", or if you happen to pick the Korean versions of "Turn Back Time" or "Kick Back.") LOL Because WayV is the Chinese unit, but they are releasing music in Korea and promoting in Korea, not specifically in China, makes it so SM is more likely to produce the song in English. Hence, why the majority of WayV's songs lately are English songs, because -- due to the pandemic, political issues and WinWin busy with solo activities in China, etc. -- they weren't promoting as a group in China at the time. I think it helps SM avoid any crossover issues with Korea that might make it more difficult for them to promote in China. You should also check out a live performance of "Love Talk," because there is actually choreography that goes with the song. It's even better live. :D
Thanks for this reaction! Xiaojun is my bias 😍 They have some track videos as well that is def worth checking out, the ones i'd suggest are poppin love, diamonds only and miracle ! Also they have 2 performance videos " She A Wolf " and " Action Figure " !
Because WayV/WeishenV means "gods of vision" in Chinese, that's why in the lyrics of "Phantom" they say "only I can see the truth," and they talk about having the vision, etc. Some fans who are into SM group theories have also speculated that NCT's storyline also connects to EXO's and SuperM's storylines. For example, in their "Phantom" MV we see the red moon or planet with YangYang holding up the moon, which I think is also probably connected in some way to the fact that in WayV's "Moonwalk" lyrics they talk about taking over the moon. And it's also probably connected to WayV's other MVs, as well as EXO's and SuperM's storyline, because everything EXO does is also connected to the moon, other worlds and other dimensions, etc. It's all part of the SM Culture Universe. Although WayV's "Phantom" MV is loosely based on the concept of the Phantom of the Opera, a phantom is just another name for a ghost or apparition, so I really think the song is about a phantom in general, not specifically the phantom that haunts the opera house. I think the song is more about the image of someone or something that haunts your thoughts or memories, etc. that seems to be affecting or controlling all aspects of your life, manipulating you "like a puppet on a string." Currently, there are 6 members in WayV: Ten first debuted as a member of NCT-U and he is also a member of SuperM, Winwin first debuted as a member of NCT-127 and NCT-U, Kun -- the leader of WayV -- originally debuted as part of NCT-2018 and Xiaojun, Hendery and Yanyang debuted specifically as members of WayV at the beginning of 2019 when WayV was formed. > Kun -- the one with the red hair -- is the leader of WayV and he's a lead vocalist. > Ten -- the guy with the mullet hairstyle -- is Thai, but his grandparents are Chinese and he attended an international school in Thailand where they spoke English most of the time, so he is fluent in English. (He is the NCT member who is fluent in the most languages -- on top of being fluent in Thai, English, Korean and Mandarin, he is also learning Japanese); he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and a center of WayV. He is also the NCT member with the most solo songs and the second NCT member to debut solo. > WinWin -- the one with the deep voice who throws the knife at the heart -- is a lead vocalist, lead dancer and sub-rapper. (He is trained in traditional Chinese dance and attended one of the most prestigious dance academies in China. He was also admitted to a very important dance program at University -- similar to the Chinese equivalent of Julliard.) > Xiaojun -- the guy with the gray hair -- is the main vocalist and the one with the high notes most of the time. > Hendery -- the one with the crazy eyes -- is from Macau China, so he also speaks Cantonese; he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper. > Yangyang -- the blond -- is the youngest member of WayV. He is Taiwanese, but he lived in Germany for 6 years and attended an international school, so he is also fluent in English and proficient in German; he is the main rapper. You should now check out the dance practice, as well as one of WayV's live performances of "Phantom" because the song and choreography is even better when you see and hear it live. (If you watch their MCountdown comeback stage, you will even get to hear the English version of the song.) SM Entertainment is considered the vocal powerhouse of the Kpop industry, which also happens to have some of the best dancers. And the company is known for the fact that when their artists perform live, they are even better than any of their studio recordings. So everyone always looks forward to their live performances. I think you will be even more impressed when you see it live.
