plot twist. Camera pans around and it turns out that a lyrebird was narrating the entire time
hehe good one
lol
haha
Haha
I love this hahaha
That bird definitely deserves a mate after that performance.
if only women were that simple!
just go out, stand on the corner and imitate a chainsaw for a while... nek minnit, pull Jennifer Hawkins
@Kieren Ikr LOL
Kieren Jones Honestly, if someone asked me out with a chainsaw impression, I would be insanely flattered.
Muddflower You say that now....lol
Swamp Butt Jones It would be pretty funny, and anyone willing to embarrass themselves that much for me is probably a pretty decent guy.
Imagine taking a shower and you hear a camera shutter
Or just off the trail for a quick pee

AHA
Theres a lyre bird out there that now has a David attenborough accent
Oh, I hope so.
Lmao
Aahahahaha love it
😂
I just watched one saying "superb" and "awesome" so yeah.. you're right
My jaw dropped when I heard it make a chainsaw
Same. It made me cry.
Same here, brilliant message to the modern world IMO.
Every one tree cut down, 3 are planted

Ebony Magyar oh wow that sure is something birds are truly amazing
@waliullah Arshi fair enuff and smart honestly
Careful the bird may have covid
It even mimics the sound of the brush/logs falling through leaves.... Incredible
Acute hearing first.
It sounds like a recording. It's awesome.

Those laser sounds are from Eastern Whipbird :)
He has supplied my troops with their blaster rifles.

I definitely had a Star Wars moment.
Unfortunately, despite mimicking Kookaburra speech perfectly, the lyrebird doesn't actually speak the language, and is unaware that he is shouting racial slurs.
best comment
Read this comment in David Attenborough's voice.
lol
Kind of like when someone tries to speak ebonics
imagine being a kookaburra and just hearing TAX EVASION
Somewhere in the jungle is now a bird that sounds like Attenborough.
better be imagine walking through a jungle a suddenly hearing david
ROFL!!
That would be so cool. 😀
''Somewhereee in this remotee rainforest,,, chirpp chripp tweet,, there lives a ,, chirrpp,, very rare bird,, beep!!''
😂😂
He sounds more like a chainsaw than a chainsaw
I loved the chainsaw
Agreed
ruclips.net/video/OPFocK5ijmc/видео.html
The fact that the sound of a chainsaw can come out of a bird is absolutely insane!
Plot twist: The bird is a chanisaw
ruclips.net/video/OPFocK5ijmc/видео.html
I find it very sad
insanity!
lol, would make someone think there is a chainsaw being used
This is officially my favorite bird

did you know there is more beautifull bird called the bird of paradise? surely you need to know them
I got another one. The secretary bird. It's the only one that hunts walking.
there are a number of birds of paradise northern Australia and New Guinea only
Lyre bird wins at imitation games.
Seriously trippy to see a bird make mechanical sounds.
The sound is real, but the bird making it is a zoo animal. hoaxes.org/weblog/comments/lyrebirds_mimicking_chainsaws
The mocking bird, is another one.
Is it trippy to see a speaker making natural sounds? they've just got a very high vocal range.
As an Australian I am proud to say that when I went I to the bush a while ago I played an air raid sound on my phone and 10 minutes later heard a lyrebird mimicking it it was great hahahah
@Albus Regnum .lol
Plot twist it wasn’t a lyre bird
ruclips.net/video/OPFocK5ijmc/видео.html
You're a sick bastard. lol
Is it me or does chainsaw have an echo effect applied to it? How can a bird produce echo fx? INCREDIBLE!!!
It was lamborghini
ruclips.net/video/OPFocK5ijmc/видео.html
Yeah, the lyrebird's syrinx (the equivalent of our vocal cords) is the most complexly muscled of the passerine birds (i.e. excluding the parrot family). So amazingly accurate; thing might as well be a portable recorder (for oft-repeated sounds, at least).
Yeah. I saw in other vid where the bird made a sound of a hammer hitting steel with a reverb. It's so beautiful.
Yes even the distance of the "sound" seems to vary and I swear I heard men talking as well in one recording!
All of this just to get LAID?
This bird is such a playa.
Sounds like he was watching starwars and tried imitating r2d2
Lol
I saw a video of one recently that actually mimicked r2d2
Not just the sound of a chainsaw.. but one from a distance.. amazing.
Its amazing how it can remember and perfectly mimic the soubds it can hear.
Having studied linguistics, I'm utterly astonished by this animal's ability to mimic mechanical sounds so well. I'd love to learn more about its vocal structure....
Heard about it on NPR. They mentioned that the vocal cords can produce several sounds at once.
The basic gist is that they use muscle contractions to squeeze air out of the air sac (like our lungs, theirs are different and spongy) through an enlarged part of the trachea called the syrinx. The syrinx has several kinds of membranes that can be stretched by smaller bundles of muscles inside and outside the airway. A bird like this probably has at least a half a dozen muscle groups inside the syrinx to help make subtle movements.
There's some debate as to which membrane does how much. You can read up here for really gory details

I'm studying for a test right now so I've got notes on hand. Hope this helps.

Bt..they hv specific name? Or genera? Or scientific name? Or common name? I mean any name...to call them
In this video? This species is Menura novaehollandiae, or the Superb Lyrebird.

I was expecting "and now he does dubstep" XD
he probably could

With the chainsaw, it literally sounds like the Lyrebird took a sound recording, and played it back,
yeah literally!! It must have really strange vocal chords to be able to do that
The fact that it can mimic the noise of a camera taking a picture is really impressive
This bird was filmed near a very popular picnic ground just beyond the outer suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. Car alarms, phone ringing, cameras etc are just part of the soundscape. Chainsaws are a common sound. They are used to clear mountain ash gums (that are like skyscrapers) that have been felled naturally. Often across roads and private properties nearby. Rangers possibly use them for maintenance and fire management.
Luke Martin time to paste this all over the comment section
Ya man good info. Still sad sounding.
Yes, you can see him in other videos wandering around near tourists. Attenborough didn't have to go beating through the bush to find it.
M. Alana Starling thats Sir David, bollock chops
The chainsaw part astounds me. I bet he impresses those lady birds lol.
So does the Lyrebird now go around the forest chirping “What bird, has the most incredible ...” - “He clears a place on the ground for his concert platform - cheep cheep cheep!”
ruclips.net/video/OPFocK5ijmc/видео.html
Humans are SO lucky to live in a world populated by those other than ourselves. Truly magical.
In the 80s I was living outside of Sydney, a place called Mangrove Mountain, near Gosford. We used to hear and see these birds and we became familiar with their extraordinary ability to imitate sounds. One sound I clearly remember was the manual typewriter because a lot of typing was going on at this place.
Charmian O'Brien why are white people in Australia?
Sammy Davis ?
Sammy Davis because it was colonized by Britain in 1788 by 11 ships carrying 736 convicts, some troops to keep them in line and a Governor to run New South Wales.
You lived in Australia. Same.
Sammy Davis it is actually mainly white people in Australia and if you want to find the answer next time google it. FrankZaffuto has the answer for you though
I had no idea this was possible. What an incredible bird!
Yep every last sound.. hammer chainsaw hammer nailing.in.nails saw evenwhen they ordered
coffee he copied it all
I first saw this clip as a child and it's just as incredible to me now as it was the first time. What magnificent creatures.
ruclips.net/video/OPFocK5ijmc/видео.html
The fact they're able to mimic foresters cutting down trees is truly saddening.
I felt so sad about that too
It is in captivity
Worst tree cutting happened in the late 19th century.
Today, however, in Australia trees must be cut down to control bushfires.
BarbarianBreed
That bird is in a wildlife
sanctuary. Don’t be fooled
by Attenbourgh’s crap!
He pretends he is sneaking
through the bush but that
bird is accustomed to seeing
people. Then he takes
recordings of the bird and
pretends his team is doing
it. And to top off his totally
disingenuous rubbish he
says the chainsaw sounds
are foresters when in fact
they are the sounds of
construction in the facility.
Do you think a Lyrebird in
the wild that are very hard
to see or approach would
be imitating a camera?
That bird can do that as
it is in close proximity to
tourists every day.
Believe about half of
what Attenbourgh tells
you and that may still
be too much, he is
more of an activist than
anything else and will
lie to get you onboard.
@@xaj1543 Okay boomer
It looks so fake but then you realise this is an actual thing that exists.
Look up weddel seal sounds.
Bird of Paradise
This bird should join the Police Academy.
yajeec810 only certain people will get this joke
Yes, it should!
😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂

This bird must be protected at all costs.
Theyre a protected species I believe
They're protected, which means if you accidentally hurt one, you have to kill it and bury it where no one will find it, rather than taking it to the vet.

If you ever get bitten by a radioactive lyrebird, you can probably expect a Top 40 pop career while moonlighting as a masked vigilante fighting crime with the power of voice.
I'm gonna find a lyrebird and a reactor.
Sounds legit.
Hello, Mr. Spielberg? Check this shit out.
Yeah but you can only do covers!
Hope someday watch the movie
Wow! Even I was blown away by this, and I'm a cat who plays the piano!
I wanna just have one of these and get it to listen to like Bohemian Rhapsody 24/7 so it can perfectly replicate it
Just imagine walking through the rainforest and hearing *galileo galileo*
And with such a fancy bird singing it, I imagine that Freddie (may he continue to rest in peace) would be quite pleased LOL!
@@DarlingNikki2 Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for meeeeeeeee! (Epic guitar solo.)
He can even mimic R2 D2 too.
In the words of Freddie himself "You can do what you want with my music, but don't make me boring". I think this this would be in keeping with his wishes
That is a truly, purely good idea. I feel Satisfaction.
The way it mimics the camera absolutely amazing
And the motor drive sound, it's very similar to the real thing
Camera turns around:
And this is the beauty of our species
Birds are seriously the most fascinating creatures on planet earth. They embody beauty in every way, so glad I live out in the hills in Australia - we have some of the most amazing animals. Waking up to the singing of a blackbird every morning and the calls of kookaburrahs is the best thing ever.
What about primates? They have like 40 different variations in facial expression that all mean different things in different species.

Rest in peace sir David Attenborough!
He's still with us!
David Attenborough always manages to get within hugging distance of these amazing birds without scaring them away. He himself of course, had a divine voice. Perhaps, that's why.
Had? Sir Attenborough is very much alive and well.
This is so amazing it's almost unbelievable. I love birds :') It's sad when you realize why it learned the sound of a chainsaw though...
***** Cool, well I hope so :)
This was filmed in the hills just east of Melbourne, very residential, so not uncommon for the bird to hear chainsaws. No logging done in the area since the early 1900's
Stacynow*sigh of relief ~ :)
+Sebizzar Not really sad considering trees drop plenty of seeds to grow new ones
+MaxDG1013 And planting more trees probably causes more long-term problems than not replacing the trees.
My jaw literally dropped at the sound of chainsaw
As a keen Australian bushwalker who grew up in the aussie bush i can Attest to the fact that its exactly what the forest sounds like
Walked past one of these playing 50cent, next thing i knew the forest went full hood
This bird could have a VERY successful career in voice acting.
Thats why , I respect earth ..thanks to david n his crew...specially to david attinbrough ..
His voice is just just just so so so impressive. You can listen to it for hours.

The fact that he can copy chain saws and normal saws is incredible. I love you Nature. You make some some of the weirdest and some of the coolest things ever.
Not only did he make the chain saw noise he even copied the sound of it Starting to
This bird is a mimicry artist..!
A lot of birds out there can imitate sounds, but you've gotta give the prize to these guys and also corvids. Corvids- like ravens and crows- have the uncanny ability to perfectly mimic speech. If you've seen that one video of the crow saying "you alright, love?" that's no joke. They're like parrots but more coherent.
truly unbelievable voice. I never heard such call. Gorgeous call.
Imagine the bird imitating Morgan Freeman :o.
You either get busy singin', or get busy dying...
It almost feels like the lyrebird is at a stand up comedy club roasting other birds around it.
The sounds this bird is capable of producing is just... HOW?
Simply incredible. The chainsaw sound was spot-on. Nature sure is amazing.
The tragedy of a bird singin'the death of it's home
Like a human imitated vietnam
Best comment I saw in awhile!
Yes.
***** I imagine that would be quite lovely in the middle of the night, alone in the forest. Babies creep me out.

Us destroying the planet is the same as saying we are capable of destroying nature as a whole. You're a complete moron
The woodpecker got competition. The chainsaw-bird will be cutting trees with sound :-)

One of the better videos of birds I love watching every so often
Who here just doesn’t love David Attenborough? He is simply fantastic, a reassuring, calming, familiar voice of intelligence and curiosity.
Go in a jungle with a boombox playing dubstep...
There needs to be a gofund me account for this
applesoranges that bird would never get a mate.
Just imagine. Someone's playing some Massive Attack - Mezzanine on a boombox in southern AU, come some years later and someone else is out during mating season and hears a bird sing the line "Your stumbling in the dark" from Teardrop. Think they'd be shitted?

Omg that chainsaw and camera sound
Amazing. Extraordinary. Beautiful.
Adorable and also utterly amazing, thank you so much for this!
Pretty sad that one of the sounds a forrest bird mimics is the sound of a chainsaw.
Yeap the sounds of devastation 😥
Despott I just got instantly depressed.
True
Despott in most of the "nature films " they are coming to the place with their own animals and film them in their natural environment. After that they bring them back home. so probably this bird lives with other birds in some kind of a zoo or place where they take care od them. (sorry for my english)
Why? Because you know nothing about the forestry industry? You just assume it's all about cut-cut-cut, don't you?
Planting trees doesn't make a sound.
I live at the bottom of Tall Timbers road in Winmalee and there is a resident lyre bird that "owns" the ridge behind the house. He mimics all the birds around here and any power tool we have going. It really is just like the video, it's hard not to burst out laughing when you sneek up to him to get a better look. If you want to see this bird, go to the track at the bottom of TT road and start walking down the hill, guarantee you'll see or hear him....Take care everyone
A living legend
Well done Sir David.

I wanna play a gameboy next to a Lyre Bird and see if it mimics any of the sounds it hears.
A Lyre bird singing Tetris or making the call of Pikachu from the original gameboy Pokémon games.

For the love of bacon, someone has to go to the Adelaide Zoo and continually play a loop of the Final Fantasy victory fanfare until their lyrebird catches on
Amelia Bee
My cockatiel does that, he loves it. That and the chocobo song.
What is victory fanfare?
+KingChickenwing How do you not know this?
I don't know :P I have only played Final Fantasy XV. I am more of a Kingdom Hearts fan.
Absolutely fascinating 😀 I just watched this on the Yesterday Channel. Sir David Attenborough is such a legend 👏👏👏👏
I apreciate wild sound with NO music, Thanks for that
Whoaaaaaa so cute! Birds are so adorable! Just like all animals
Why wasn't the Lyre bird in the Police Academy movies?
So you mean to say, I need this bird to appreciate chainsaw noise?
Fine by me.
I saw this in the Blue Mountains this morning. Phenomenal. The Blue Mountains (away from the touristy areas) are heaven.
1,167 didn't like this -- are they nuts? How could you not like a bird which sounds like a chainsaw?
+Scotbot because it reminds them of serial killers?
Imagine your a female little bird and you here a chain saw coming at you. Poor birdie won't get a mate with that song lol
+Scotbot At the beginning he does a R2-D2 Impression.
+Scotbot Why dislike? Because it's spreading misinformation. The bird making all the unique sounds is a captive bird that was raised from an egg. Wild Lyre birds do not do this.
Could they? yea sure and that does make them incredible. However most people believe that there's a forest full of Lyre birds running around sounding like chainsaws when that's just not true.
diGritz1 You're a bit dull, aren't you, and don't understand humour much.
hahahahahah this bird loves to troll other birds.
