Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT).

This enzyme is also known as Serum glutamic pyruvate transaminase (SGPT).
Unlike AST, this enzyme is more specific for liver function. It is found primarily in the liver and kidney.
Normal value: 4 - 40 IU/L
It is elevated in liver diseases.
