  • Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft has spent nearly eight years in his post, often making headlines for how he described ballot initiatives and for his opinions on election administration. Now, the GOP statewide official who used to live in St. Louis County is running for governor, hoping to continue an emphatic electoral winning streak that began in 2016.
This race, though, won’t be a cakewalk, as Ashcroft faces fierce competition from Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe and state Sen. Bill Eigel. But Ashcroft contends that his record in office and a slew of policy ideas will allow him to prevail on Aug. 6.
“I've actually been moving conservative policy forward to increase the opportunity for all Missourians who are well,” Ashcroft said on Friday’s episode of The Politically Speaking Hour on @stlonair. “My competitors have been selling Missouri for their own political and personal gain.”
Ashcroft spoke with @stlpublicradio’s @jasonrosenbaum on a host of issues on the Politically Speaking Hour, including his plans to do away with the state’s income tax and his opposition to state funding for Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals stadiums.
You can listen to Ashcroft’s interview by going to stlpr.org or wherever you find your St. Louis on the Air podcasts.

So basically Jay Ashcroft agrees with Bill Eigel.

Transportation infrastructure attracts business and quite frankly, our Missouri roads and bridges need the funding. Ashcroft provides no funding alternatives. The money in general revenue doesn't exist!. I ain't decided who I'm voting for on Tues. But it sure as hell won't be Asscroft.
