    Thank you so much. I am loving your videos. I would like to become a NP but unsure of what path to take. I love geriatrics and have not ever really worked with pediatrics as an RN. Your channel really allows me to have an inside view of the NP role.

    I’ve watched at least 2-3 videos from your channel in less than 24 hours. I love the fact that you keep it 100. All the good and especially the bad about the medical field that many don’t know about.
    Nursing homes can be equivalent to the gas chamber. They are ran like f the patient. It’s all about the Benjamin. In my 13 years on a rescue, there were maybe 2-3 out of the 15-20 I’ve routinely went to were decent to good in conditioning and proper care for patient.
    Thank you for all the great videos!
    Wishing you the best in all your future endeavors!!

      Thanks so much… I will say I am glad I didn’t do UC when I was brand new, but that is just me. I do know new NP who do UC and do great. I will say if you do, make sure you have support, a go to person you can reach out to. Also get comfortable with procedures suturing I&D etc a lot of eye I just as well come in the UC. Best of luck to you

    I agree that dealing with patients who are already determined what they want to do with their health and refuse all testing/treatment options can be very frustrating. I didn’t realize that that’s more common in primary care. My PMNP friend told me that she tells her patients “if you want to get better than I can help you but if you don’t want to get better, I cannot help you,” and that was so refreshing to hear. I don’t have a gut to say that statement (yet) but I totally think her thinking makes sense.

    Great video, very informative! I'm starting my last year of FNP school and am in an Urgent Care rotation right now! I'm hoping to do primary care next semester!! (I was actually watching this video during my lunch break there lol) I'm starting to think about where I may want to work as a new grad NP. Do you recommend new grads to start out in primary care or specialize (even if it's not urgent care)? Does it matter?

  • @MrDwinfrey29
    @MrDwinfrey29 Год назад

    For the business aspect, Urgent Care revenue is significantly more than what primary care bills for, from my understanding depending on location and procedures but Urgent cares I've been to bill at least $150 to $300 per patient. So factoring that vs how much an NP/PA is billed at in a primary care setting. It's almost double in revenue, for this reason the pay is better.

    Thank you for your insight on UC vs. Primary. I’m writing FNP boards this summer and have a 0.6 FTE in internal medicine clinic starting September. I hope to add a few casual UC hours each week after I get at least a year of experience.

    Clinics are definitely a lot more predictable, as far as work schedules, because they're never open on weekends, evenings. or on major holidays. On the other hand, there's a lot more follow up work and time spent on referrals and other issues when you're the assigned primary care doctor. For people with young kids, urgent care can be nice if they work 3 12 hour shifts a week and then have the other 4 days off.

    What are your thoughts regarding virtual urgent care? Planning to work at the real urgent care but Covid pissed my nerves for a while. Took off from primary care. The other question is if you are doing 12-hour shifts at the urgent care, shouldn't you be having 4 days off per week? Great content!
