In my experience, that ‘Golf Coast Road’ out to North Berwick has some of most courteous drivers anywhere in Scotland. You really notice the difference when you go from East Lothian into Midlothian and Edinburgh. The drivers just get progressively worse.
Excellent video ! That was a fair wee trek from Edinburgh to North Berwick ! Loved seeing all the points on route , and especially loved the mention of the ‘changes’ group in Musselburgh, and I totally agree with your comments on getting out / cycling to help your mental health . Well done Charles 👍👏👏
Another great watch and a really well made video! Thanks. Good to meet/bump into you a few weeks back, down near the science center. All the best, Duncan
@@dyalikemahat Was good to see you that day and have a wee chat. Got loads of shots of the new bridge that day but haven’t used them yet. Will most likely do an infrastructure video soon and use them for that.
Enjoyed retracing this route which I did on a cracking sunny day earlier this year. I also lost the route in the same housing estate and had to backtrack to find the sign. Lots of cyclists in East Lothian. The drivers are good. If you have the puff it is a good ride on to Dunbar. So many good routes in East Lothian to choose from.
Great video. I’ve thought about cycling to North Berwick from Fife, but there’s someone I cycle with who is a better cyclist than I am said he was buckled doing it. So I don’t know!!! Your route is part of the Edinburgh Marathon I did back in 2022. At 13.41 is where we turned into and through an estate then back onto the road heading back to Musselburgh. I’ve cycled from Fife to Roslin, Bilston Glen Viaduct, Musselburgh, Leith, Cramond then back to Fife across the Forth Bridge. Most of the routes were on the national cycle route 1. Keep on making great videos, they help me look for new routes.
Thanks for showing the differences. What I found confusing how you navigate what little infrastructure you have and to figure out what side of the road to take. At times you took a road which was a different one than expected: you drive on the left side of the road, but at various instances you took the right lane... From a Dutch perspective that is just Wrong 😅
@@Paul_C It can be a quite terrifying cycling in the uk. Was hoping that I could have been mostly off road on this journey but had to use a few very busy roads to get to my destination. The good news is that politicians and councils in some parts of the uk are starting to wake up and realise the benefits of good infrastructure in place. The bad news is it’s taking years for projects to get past the planning stage. Glasgow has just ended a consultation with plans for an inner north and inner south cycling network that will be fully connected. This is now going to the design stage and that could take another year or two before work starts. The length of time a piece of infrastructure takes to be completed in the uk is so frustrating.
Another cool video.....Keep em coming!

Great video, I did this route earlier this month as part of the John Muir Way from Helensburgh to Dunbar on my ebike.
@@fattishboy6620 that sounds like a good route. Would I need a gravel bike for that one?
@@glasgowcycles I done it on a touring hybrid which was more than up to the job, a gravel bike would be fine I would think.
Crackin' video. Loved it!
Another fantastic video! Looks like an excellent route 😊

@@raymondelliot4605 the great thing about this route is you can get the train back (from north Berwick)if you end up buckled 😁
@@glasgowcyclesI was thinking of getting the tram from Ingliston park and ride down to Leith then cycle from there. Bikes are free on the trams.👍🏻
✨✨✨✨✨
Steampunk is a good coffee ☕️ place if you go to North Berwick again.

Did this route in reverse this year and lost the route going into Edinburgh, must pay more attention to the signs
@@kramrenrut950 that happened to me on the way back through Musselburgh.
