Thanks for checking out the video. I’m currently using two Remote Designs backpacks. One for my sleep system and the other for cooking supplies and food. The upper Brazos is amazing but I will be trying to get down to some of the hill country rivers this year. That is if we get some rain soon.
I just finished Hwy. 4 to Hwy. 180 with a discharge at PK dam at 49.2 cfs… a fantastic trip but one full of challenges. We battled 30 plus MPH winds on 10-29-21 and made it less than halfway to our planned first night camp location. Day 2 was paddle like hell all day to reach our planned day 2 camp and day 3 was paddle like hell again to the 180 bridge to make the 3:30 pick up time from Rochelle’s. We dragged our yaks and canoe a total of 2.2 miles. It may sound like a nightmare, but what a trip with two amazing friends and a float I will make again… perhaps at 150 plus cfs. Great video!
40 mph winds would not be fun. We had a blast but our group has done this trip two other times this year with flows at 150 CFS and 650 CFS. At. 150 we only had to get out twice and at 650 it was smooth sailing.
I am shooting for 150 to 220 as the fish like to hold up in the holes below the portages or so it seems. I am going again in April before all the munchkins get out of school and will do the upper leg before the crowds hit. I have a pile of streamer flies tied up and am looking forward to it. I am from Wyoming but now live west of Houston, so I am still finding new places to go. Lake Whitney is my next stop below the dam. Your videos are awesome and thank you for taking your time to build them.
We were out there the same weekend. That's my brother and nephew at 13:44 and the guy beyond them up against the rocks was my son...he killed them that day. We've been doing that float for 15 years...but this fall was our first on kayaks. Hope to see out there again this spring.
I was on this run all summer. Saw multiple 5+ fish. If your on FB you saw the group of guys just kill it 3 weeks ago. Milady and I where on the day after Christmas. Caught a good. It was 82 and sun sun sun kids. Say hello to The Big Man if you see him. Yell out " Grande" and I'll have a beer with ya. Hey shout out to the 40 class of 90 Eagle scouts we ran into. Or as on guy said, 5 adults and 35 guys. Their 3rd day I found them shooting fireball and shotgunning beers at 11 am. Rock n Roll.......
Thank you! It’s a awesome stretch of river. The lack of development really takes you back in time. The fishing being great is also a plus. Good luck out there!
Yes mostly to keep the kayak in location to make casts at cover on the bank. The motor also helps in some of the deeper holes when the wind is blowing right in your face pushing you up river.
@@texasdangler6958 right on man! I just got the Dakota lithium 12v 100ah it’s a beast! Had it charged for 8 days, was out 5 hours on the water and still had 75% left!
Epic trip! Definitely need to add the upper brazos to my list. Always great seeing the backpack in action too! Thanks for taking us along with you

That’s awesome. I can’t wait to get back on the river. This spring.
He killed your brother and nephew?!?)?
Can't wait to get out there on my brand new kayak! Great video!
Thanks. The past two weeks would have been awesome for a trip down this section. What boat did you go with?

Nice set up! I like the way that trolling motor mounts. Cool to see some Paddle, camp and fishing!
Thanks. Every time I get back from a river trip I start planning the next one.

8:20 what I live for catching
Same here!
Pumpkin seed fluke? Texas rigged or no?
Texas rigged weightless get them every time. Depending on the time of year I use blue gill or shad colors.
Great video... I'll be doing this in a few weeks! Liked and subbed to support a fellow Youtubing Outdoorsman.

Great video! Did you use the trolling motor much?

Good deal! I will Definitely take mine with me this spring!
@@AmericanSavage1776 I run the Amped Outdoors 80 mah battery and run the motor as much as possible. At the end of the trip I still had about 60% left.
