having the focus be on ethics is actually quite good.. cause finding references for specific things without finding photos or videos that have the subject, often not consenting, is discomforting morally.
All gore sources are ethical. Mutilation is never done to produce reference for art, so by using pictures of them for reference is always okay. In no way are you contributing to bad things happening.
@barendfaber 1. the person in the picture did not always consent to being used for art, or to have a picture of their trauma/death be out there in the first place. 2. its not about bad things happening, its about protecting your own mental health and like i said the other person's peace in death or healing

Unless the person who suffered the injury consented, it is into ethical to reference them in such a vulnerable situation.
