    shocking discipline. by both sides but mainly wigan. ref did well not to abandon the game.

    Monday nights after News At 10 on Granada meant repeats of The Sweeney at 10:30 then RL Action at 11:30

    Good God, that Fartown ground looks rough - no wonder Huddersfield moved over to the McAlpine/Galpharm/John Smith's Stadium. First time I've ever watched this game, as I wasn't old enough to stay up to watch it at the time. And more surprising is seeing Central News' Bob Hall on presenter duty, the man with a very devastating Brian Clough impersonation. Was Madeley off sick that night?

      Yes, they had a rough '79-'80 which caused their first and only relegation from the top tier.

    I did not know Bob Hall did RL Action he usually did football mostly for ATV/Central (he took over as presenter for Star Soccer not long after this one) Richard Madeley (see Wigan v Hull KR 1983) as well as Richard Madeley did Elton Welsby present RL Action though he did the 1984 Great Britain tour to Australia
