    Nice job Gabi! If I ever to buy the BM I can see this is the cage to buy.

      Thanks Jeff! Make sure to buy the right one if you get the BMPCC 6k. The one made for the 4K won't fit the 6k. :-)

    Quick question,
    what are you mounting the base plate on to? I can't seem to find that in your description. Are you using a dovetail plate?

    • @Photogabi
      @Photogabi  4 года назад +2

      I am just using a Manfrotto Mounting Plate (501PL) via a 14" screw attached to the dovetail part of the baseplate

    This turned out amazing. One small comment I have is that some of the intro shots felt a bit too fast for me, I had to either read the text or look at what the shot was showing.
    Can’t wait to your next one!

    hey gabi, amazing shots and review, would love to see a how to for the intro :D
    one question: do you think one can remove the dovetail part of the baseplate to attach a different quick release option?
    i know i can attach my plate on the dovetail part, but i want to keep the weight as low as possible
    thank you

    • @Photogabi
      @Photogabi  4 года назад +1

      Thanks a lot for the reply, Melo! Good idea for an intro tutorial. I'll put that down on my list. I don't you can since that piece includes the locks for the 15mm rails. But you can attach a Manfrotto Mounting Plate (501PL) via a 14" screw and use that plate to attach to other compatible Manfrotto tripod heads. Hope it makes sense.

    • @melomaisano

      @@Photogabi I am looking forward to that tutorial bud 👌
      Really? it looks like the rod tighteners are above that🤔

    • @Photogabi
      @Photogabi  4 года назад

      @@melomaisano Just checked. You are right about the rod fasteners. However, the baseplate has four screws that don't have standard hex sizes. I found a hex key that was smaller, but the wouldn't budge and I ended up stripping one, lol. I'm thinking that the designers meant that place to stay in place. My best suggestion is to attach the Manfrotto Mounting Plate (501P) to the baseplate.

    • @melomaisano
      @melomaisano 4 года назад +1

      @@Photogabi oh damn I'm sorry you stripped the screwhead 😞
      I actually bought one myself and with the right Allen key it was pretty easy and I attached my arca Swiss plate.

    • @Photogabi
      @Photogabi  4 года назад

      @@melomaisano haha - don't worry, man. it doesn't bother me at all. So you were able to take off that Tilta dovetail plate to replace it with the Swiss plate? That's rad!

    Can the base plate attach to any tripod?

    • @Photogabi
      @Photogabi  4 года назад +1

      The baseplate is compatible with Tilta-standard dovetails. I have a Manfrotto Mounting Plate (501PL) attached to the baseplate since I have the Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adapters on my tripods

  • @danilo_z
    @danilo_z 4 года назад +1

    Hey Gabi, nice Video, thanks for that! I am currently also considering this Cage for my BMPCC 4K. How fast can you switch from handheld/tripod to gimbal use with this cage? Did you try that?

    • @Photogabi
      @Photogabi  4 года назад

      Thanks Danilo! To be honest I didn't try it. But if you consider taking off the handle which comes off quite easily (there's a screw), and considering that you already have a universal mounting plate that would work for your tripod and gimbal, sliding the two 15mm rods is fast also, it should be fairly fast. Also if you have the gimbal pre-balanced will help also.
      To make it even faster, you could buy a secondary baseplate that you have attached to the gimbal so all you need to do is slide out the cage and slide it in the one on the gimbal if that makes sense. In that case you only need to unmount the handle. Hope it makes sense.

    Awesome video!! Does it turn into a half cage?

    • @Photogabi
      @Photogabi  5 лет назад

      Thanks a lot for the comment! Yes, it does. Makes it lighter with a few ounces, to be mounted on a gimbal.
