      @CistaFlex what has Van Dijk won? Who has he faced? Maldini’s first Serie A title was 87-88 season and his last was around 2003-20004 season, played in EIGHT champions league finals along the way 😂

      **Honestly Nesta was a better and genius more skilled defender** but Maldini was a man of army for Ac Milan.. both Legends, best duo defender Ever 🥲

    • @davidrowan3853
      @davidrowan3853 3 months ago +11

      @aleger620Nesta wasnt in the same level as Maldini, or Beckenbauer. Maybe him and Cannavaro are that next level below.

    • @aleger620
      @aleger620 3 months ago +1

      @davidrowan3853 **Any decent defender fan will say Nesta was something above Maldini** 😅... Maldini was awesome, smart & better overall athlete for all his career, but *Nesta was special, more gifted & totally born specialized himself to the max the art of defending: tackle, positioning, ball-playing, tecnique in any of these area Nesta was a little above anyone, for 3/4 of his career Nesta was FLAWLESS* ❤ and after the late 2000's injuries and playing with one leg, he was still considerated unmatched and a step above all other pure defenders.
      You can't compare Nesta to Cannavaro, only a bungalator like you ( IN FRIENDSHIP 😁) would say bs like yours, Cannavaro was pretty good, but INCOSTINTENT 🫩 The **only reason Cannavaro won the balloon d'or it was 1) bcs Zidane gave an headbutt to Materazzi; 2) Buffon ( and Juventus) has gone to SERIE B, Fifa wouldnt have ever allowed to let a Juventus or serie b player tomwin it; 3) Cannavaro, after leaving Juventus, he joined Real Madrid and Perez pushed Fifa to let him win the balloon d'or** 🫥🫥🫥
      👉 *For concluding Beckenbauer was a sweeper/ libero, They were totally different players, characteristics, football & role* and anyway dear Bungalator .. There is no comparing **Nesta was & is still a much better superior defender ( but at the same time probabily much worse all arounder 😅) and MAIN DIFFERENCE, Nesta's still nowadays , together with Maldini and several few others, THE IDEAL IMAGE ( or what clubs/ coach would make genocides for catching similar talent 😂) OF A MODERN DEFENDER 😎👍

  • @betterinsodapop

    People will argue about who is the best striker. People will argue about who is the best playmaker. Nobody argues about who the best defender ever is/was. It's Maldini, and everybody knows it. Speaks volumes of his legend, quality, and leadership.

      Because inter had many scorers like zamorano and djorkaeff, he played all around the field, he was assisting, pressing , dribbling and making space for others, he was also coming back to defend as he had incredible stamin,every time he touched the ball from every angle the stadium was roaring , ppl paid the ticket just to see him , he didnt won anything beacause Juventus robbed the league that year, theyr Director was put on trial in court later @Preppygirl-u3i

    • @vfamily4396
      @vfamily4396 3 months ago +1

      Yep. Pele during his time, Maradona during his, Maldini during his and CR7 the most recent one(even if CR7 haters will disagree with that and bring up a very controversial world cup to everything without playing at the best league)

      @hijlkecornelisboorsma1058 3 months ago +2

      @vfamily4396 cr7 is not the best of his genaration. messi vs cr7 in his years at real messi won more golden boots more leage titles. messi also won playmaker awards as golden boot winner.
      juventus won the serie 6 or 7 years in a row before cr7, after he came to them promising to win the cl they didnt even win the serie a anymore.

      I think Italy 2002 was even better than 2006 Azzurri Legendary Squad…
      The only team that strong was Brasil, in fact they won WC…
      But 2002 Italy was incredible… But still a shame no bringing Roby Baggio anyway.. What a shame, after the sacrifices he did to recover and after the crazy seasons he played in Brescia… he did some Magic that year, goals, class, passes etc etc

    Paolo is just one of those very rare cases where every star seems to align. He was football royalty, being the son of Cesare Maldini, then he had the charisma, the character, the intelligence, the stamina, the technique, the athleticism and every other attribute that makes a footballer world class and, then, on top of it all, the man plays his whole career for a single badge, the same badge that his father defended...

    I followed Paolo for about two decades. The thing about his game that is often overlooked in this generation of highlight reels, is the fact that he RARELY MAKES MISTAKES. Such that if he did made an error, often, the commentator would notice and remark about it. And he perfroemed like this consistently at the very top level for over two decades.

    One significant particular about his attitude and mentality.
    In the beginning of his career his stronger foot was the right one, he even debuted as a right back.
    But he trained so hard his "weaker" left foot, that in a short period of time he was absolutely comfortable to play with that left foot. And even in the later years of his career the left foot looked the stronger, it looked like it's more natural for him to play with.
    And believe me, these ones are the toughest to face, those who are comfortable with the both feet, sometimes when you have to face them, you don't know what to expect.
    That's why you can see him easily dribbling forwards who were trying to press him.
    What made Maldini that strong mentally was the very beginning of his career.
    He is a son of an AC Milan legend, Cesare Maldini was the first AC Milan captain that lifted the European Champions Cup in 1963.
    So when Paolo started to play in the club's academy, the guys around him and their parents started to talk that he was there only because he is the son of Cesare.
    That motivated him to train harder and harder, to silence these people, to prove them that he deserves to be there not because of his father but because he is a good player. Not only a good player, but better than anybody else.
    And he continued to train like that til the very end.

That was the time it clicked to me and since then i was Italy supporter , for me that move looked better than a bicycle kick or anything i ever saw , that was like a magic trick.

    I remember in 1985 that, my brother in law use to say he would not change Paolo Maldini with the whole Roma squad. Roma in those years were the strongest team with Juventus with world class players, and Maldini was only 16 and something. He has played for 25 years in the same team, AC Milan. I think that with Beckenbauer is at number 1 best defender of all time. It was a shame that he left the Azzurri few years before the 2006 World Cup, it would have been the icing in the cake for a phenomenal career.

    He started in the best league ever. In Seria A in the 80 were concentrated 99% of all the best players in the world. Maldini played against Zico, Platini, Rumenigghe, Socrates, Maradona, Careca, then Ronaldo, Batistuta, Zidane and so on Cristiano. Not to mention the great Italians. Best player ever, 25 years at the very top. Great man like you don’t see anymore nowadays. Son of Lombardi like Baresi, Tassotti, Costacurta, Ancelotti, Donadoni. Football is a circus now, clowns with no class everywhere

    • @Samson-h6l

      Serie A was the best league ever at the time but 99% of the best players in the world is a stupid claim to make.
      8 of 11 players on the pitch had to be Italian.
      Who was playing for Real Madrid, Barcelona, Ajax, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Marseilles, Red Star, Manchester Utd, Dynamo Kyiv, Palmeiras, Boca Juniors etc?

    • @Samson-h6l
      @Samson-h6l 2 months ago

      @Pierto8024 Rubbish. I do not deny that Italy was the place to be in the 80's but 99%, is a pathetic, ridiculous exaggeration.
      There were about 450 players in Serie A at the time. Approx. 400 Italians and 50 foreigners.
      450 x 99% = 445.5
      So to disprove your "theory" I would need only name 5 of the best footballers in world who were not playing in Serie A during the 80's.
      I think I can manage that.
      Johan Cruyff (Johan F***ING Cruyff!!!)
      Kenny Dalglish (FIFA 100; Ballon d'Or runner-up 1983; 3 x European Cup winner)
      Bernd Schuster (Ballon d'Or runner-up 1980, third place 1981, 1985)
      Jean Tigana (Ballon d'Or runner-up 1984)
      Paul Breitner (FIFA 100, Ballon d'Or runner-up 1981; 1 x World Cup, 1 x European Cup)
      Emilio Butragueño (FIFA 100; Ballon d'Or third place 1986, 1987)
      Gary Lineker (FIFA 100; Ballon d'Or runner-up 1986)
      Hugo Sanchez (FIFA 100; UEFA Cup 1985)
      Romário (FIFA 100, 1 x World Cup)
      Igor Belanov (Ballon d"Or winner 1986)
      John Barnes (PFA Footballer of the Year 1988 & FWA Footballer of the Year 1988 & 1990)
      Hristo Stoichkov, Dejan Savicevic and Jürgen Kohler would all go on to play in Italy in the 1990's....
      I could go on and on and on....
