we were there in January. We didn't have a guide but we did have a tuk tuk driver that too us around to each temple. Once we were at each area we just wondered around on our own.
Great blog, Peter and Sandy! Hoping to visit the same temples on my trip soon. Did you have to pay extra for the tuktuk service or was it included for free with your hotel stay?
For Laundry they had charged from you extra - ( 1kilo is 20 Thai baht is equals to 60 Thai baht ) USD will be 1.68 $$ - So next time be careful people here charged extra
We agree about the sunrise. However in regards to using $USD we found that places were really strict about the quality of the bills. with Riel they didnt seem to care. We have one place refuse to take a $10 bills because it was a little crumpled no tears just a little bit crumpled.
cultural comments on history?? every menu in cambodian restaurants are "big"?? I am currently in cambodia from the islands to laos -- this one is a "tiny guide for US-citizens" ..
You’ve come all this way and you only bought a one day ticket…what a waste…3 day should be the minimum…3 mornings is perfect. You can see all the main temples and have your afternoons in Siem Reap.
Latest news: The world just acknowledged that Khmer or Cambodia did not build Angkor Wat. Who is Khom? The latest research done by Chiang Mai University in collaboration with an international research team has examined DNA samples from Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Burma, and Cambodia, compared with DNA samples from ancient humans found in archaeological excavations of each country. Compared to the current ASEAN DNA As a result, Thailand is close to Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia, but Burma and Cambodia are separated. People who lived during the Khom civilization are pedigree South Indian Mon which is not found in Cambodia This clearly indicates that Khmer is not Khom and Khom Warman was completely eradicated from the present Khmer faction, which had no Khmer ancestry. This coincides with the story of Nai Tang Wan (Mr.Sweet Melon) Rebellion who established himself as a later king with the eradication of the Varman dynasty and theories. Diva Sarug Khmer according to the Sap Bak inscription was just a savage village recruited for slave labor. (China-Zhou Da Guang's record)
At that time, France was under its control, occupying Siam in 1899. The ignorant Khmer refused to accept the fact that they were enslaved by the people. Thailand since the Ayutthaya period for 400 years. And the point is, this museum has been around for 230 years.

The sunrise is a waste of time as it’s usually cloudy as it was for you…also use $US not riel , much more convenient

@@peter-and-sandy yes they are paranoid about the quality of $US currency but I lived in Siem Reap from 2011-2020 and always used US$
