I am getting fatter. I'm drinking clean pressed juices and nutrient dense food and am getting fatter. Also chicken and vegetables, yet I was thinner on poor food choices! When i was eating junk like hamburgers and sweets, i was thinner and now I'm so bloated and fat!

      Juice is a no no.

Unfortunately, pressed juices are really high in fruit sugars (and can cause bloating!) so I don't recommend them at all, sorry. To get the best benefits from fruit, they should be eaten whole to include the important fibre

My question is, is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy safer than non bioidentical hrt and what's the latest on their long term effects and safety?

Such good advice Eileen im quite lean and am managing to stay that way through good clean eating, plenty of water and protein, lots of veg, some fruit and food i make from scratch. I also don't use vegetable oils and eat processed foods. I personally don't eat red meat just lean chicken or legumes. For me weight training and intermittent fasting works for me. I do treat myself every now and then but when i do its something i make myself or a couple of squares of dark chocolate. My go to breakfast is porridge wirh a scoop of pea protein powder and some blueberries on top as well as some walnuts, chia seeds and pumpkin seeds. Ive got my husband onto it now he doesn't miss his cereal 😄

I tell some people that I gained weight because I'm trying to get all my vitamins in for the day, so I was quit shocked to hear you say that about the amounts.

good advice as always, thankyou, Eileen. can i ask what do you recommend for a sluggish bowel ? i have had this for 2 months after some antibiotics . i am taking psyllium husks and senna, which helps, also probiotic, any suggestions please as i would like to get back to normal.

      Hi Katie
I would suggest the Milk Thistle Complex for a month or two. Falling oestrogen can affect gut motility which can result in sluggish bowels. The herbs in Milk Thistle help to improve the production and flow of bile which has a beneficial effect on digestion and elimination generally. Also, remember to drink plenty of plain water as dehydration has a huge impact on the digestion!

I can attest to the eating regular part. I have to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks - to keep me a happy woman :-)
I am curious what you think about trying to track our food daily?
In the past 5 mths I've gained almost 5 lbs, haven't changed anything, but I did get another year older in January. It's all in my tummy, and I am really struggling with what to do.
I was told to up my protein, I was eating 2 oz (about 20 grams) at B,L,D and now eating 3 oz (aiming for 30 grams of protein at each meal, not snacks) I've done this for 30 days and no change in the scale.
I have had low blood sugar problems most of my life, so no 'white' foods, and no dairy or gluten for many years. (& no soy...it doesn't like me).
Each meal has 30 gr protein, about 1/2 c of rice, or beans, or potato, then 2 vegi's with each meal. Snacks are a sml piece of fruit with sunbutter, or crackers with sunflower & pumpkin seeds.
This has just stumped me. I'm eating about 1300-1400 calories a day, and tracking is getting weary (and distracting). I just want to eat, and not have my tummy keep getting bigger.
I really want to go back to eating very small portions, but I keep hearing what you just spoke of....don't cut your portions back.
I walk 3 to 4 times a week and do light weights or some gentle yoga on off days. I drink LOADS of water since we live in Colorado and it's very dry.
I think you've spoke before about low estrogen can contribute, and while my estrogen is undetectable, I have been post-menopause for over 5 years.
Why now? Tummy is getting bigger and joints are getting stiffer and tight. Help!

      Hi
Yes, it can get really wearisome tracking calories and foods every day. It may be that you could decrease calories by a small amount each day to see if that makes a difference but you seem to be eating well generally. Unfortunately, the older we get, our metabolism does tend to slow down so we can put on weight with the same calorie intake. A book I found really helpful over the years is called the Metabolism Miracle by Diane Kress which you can get from Amazon.

I am still in my perimenopausal state. I was wondering, will everything get normal after menopause or not? Will these symptoms go away? Will i get all my energy back? Will i be able to loose some extra weight after? Will i get my health back?

    • @AvogelCoUk

      Hi Nainita
This is a really difficult quest to answer as it is different for everyone. Many women do find that symptoms resolve over time and that they feel as good, if not better, than before! However, for some, symptoms may continue for a long time. It is always best to try and look after yourself as well as possible and treat any individual symptoms that may appear; this all helps the body to cope better long-term.

Currently recovering from a nasty build up for acid reflux and LPR / lost voice, so glad I found this channel. My body will only accept alkaline foods for now until my stomach gets stronger again for more nutritious foods I can't currently have. Mix GERD with hot flashes and palpatations with low iron symptoms and I'm very confident this is perimenopausal. Diet is so important during this process. Thank you for such helpful advice.

Great info as usual Ms. Eileen ❤ have you heard of the sleepy girl mock tail? It’s magnesium powder, tart cherry juice, sparkling water & agave. I had one a few nights ago minus the agave and it was yummy and I rested well. Just wanted to share for those that may be interested. I eyeball the recipe so look it up if you’re more of an exact measurement kinda girl. Have a wonderful week ❤
